TECHNOLOGIES. We have developed a series of technologies that can process packaging-related information automatically, making the use and operation of sealing devices as safe and straightforward as possible for their users. The functional logos shown allow us to demonstrate quickly which sealing or vacuum sealer contains which hawo technology.
DataMatic With DataMatic, all process data can be saved to a USB stick, and transferred to an independent computer for further data processing. This function is already available in many sealing devices and in the VeriDoc system.
DocLink hawo sealing equipment with DocLink can be connected via the integrated communications interface to external computer systems. This supports bidirectional communication (external machine operation and process data capture).
IntelligentScan With hawo IntelligentScan technology, all of the device configurations required for all kinds of packaging materials, printing and staff data, can be entered in advance via the PC software. With the barcode scanner, the hawo IntelligentScan technology automatically assigns the scanned-in barcodes to the device functions.
AppCtrl Using hawo’s unique control apps, all device and programming functions can be called up directly. Thanks to AppCtrl, operation and communication become child‘s play.
13
FontMatic On sealing machines with integrated printer, packaging-related information can be printed directly on the sterile product packaging so it is clearly visible to the user. It is important in this context that the information is also displayed in full. Sealing devices with patented FontMatic technology recognise the width of the sealing material and adapt the font size automatically to the space available. Printing that goes beyond the edge is therefore a thing of the past.
GreenTek Environmental protection and sustainability are not an end in themselves. During the last years, we have consistently concentrated on resources-sparing design. More and more hawo sealing devices are equipped with completely new technology that uses a fraction of the energy of similar devices. The standby function or automatic switch-off when pulse systems are not in use adds the finishing touch to hawo’s GreenTek concept. And all this without any compromises in terms of the quality of the sealing results

VALIDATION OF PACKAGING PROCESSES.
ISO
The ISO 11607-2 standard requires processes involved in the packaging of medical products to be validated. During sealing, the critical process parameters must be monitured routinely. The new ISO/TS 16775 provides guidelines for how to carry out process validation. When validating the sealing process, the optimum parameters are determined for the packaging material being used. The process must then ensure the best possible sealing seam under these parameter settings. Professional sealing systems are therefore regarded as essential for medically safe sealing during packaging in clean-room environments. hawo offers the entire product portfolio of vacuum, impulse and band sealers that comply with the requirements of ISO 11607-2. The models marked with a „V“ feature an integrated function designed to monitor critical process parameters.

Professional and efficient.
hp 630 WS The hawo L-sealer designed for professional applications, is suitable for continuous use and guarantees optimum lock safety. After the frame has been closed the machine will hold the sealing pressure until the end of the packaging process. The sealing results are consistent and produce identical results every time because they cannot be influenced by the operator. At the end of the packaging process the frame will open automatically. This optimised human-machine interface allows the operator to prepare the next item to be packaged on the integrated workspace while the unit is sealing.
The variable table with height and depth adjustment allows you to adapt the size of the packaging to the different product sizes without changing the film roll (from approx. 15 x 15 to 60 x 60 cm / 6 x 6 to 23 x 23 inch). Examples of use: > Packaging of all types of clothing (e.g. clothing industry, general industry, transport companies, dry cleaners, mail –order businesses, airlines, hotels, etc.).

IMPULSE LARGE-SCALE SEALER.
hpl 1500 / 1800 MS The impulse large-scale sealers seal any type of thermoplastic film up to a thickness of 4 x 0.15 mm (4 x 0,006 inch) gusseted and are therefore ideal for large dust covers (e.g. for palleting). The sealing time can be easily adjusted on the “W.I.N.G” impulse power pack which can be set up separately. An integrated cutting device allows the film length to be easily adjusted to the product being packaged. Thanks to the impulse process, the device is very cost-effective since it only draws power when it is being used (hawo GreenTek). A 3 mm (0.12 inch) wide sealing seam, constant contact pressure using two precision cams and even temperature distribution over the entire width ensure a fast and reliable sealing process.
Simple operation is effected by repositioning one of the two process levers. Once the sealing time has been reached, the sealing process stops automatically. The machines are available with bar widths of 1.5 and 1.8 m (59 and 71 inches). Examples of use: >P roduction of pallet dust covers made from thermoplastic films for products of all kinds, packaging of largevolume products, e.g. mattresses, textiles, industrial products, forensic medicine and autopsy departments in hospitals.

PRODUCT OVERVIEW TESTING SYSTEMS
47
48
PRODUCT OVERVIEW TESTING SYSTEMS ROUTINE CONTROL OF THE SEALING SEAMS. The hawo testing systems comply with the requirements of ISO 11607-1 and ASTM.
Standard Test Method for Seal Strength of Flexible Barrier Materials.
ht 150 SCD The standalone system is used for testing seal strength in accordance with ISO 11607-1, EN 868-5 and ASTM F88. Sealing samples can be created precisely in the required width of 15 mm / 0,6 inch (1 inch with adapter) using sample cutters. The samples are then clamped into the testing machine or adaptive testing device and peeled at a monitored speed of 200 mm/min (8 inch/ min). The strength curve and maximum strength are recorded. The system is supplied with an aluminium transport box and PC testing software.
49
DYE PENETRATION. EYEDROPPER METHOD.
hawo InkTest The hawo InkTest is a classic test method for detecting seal leaks in porous medical packaging by dye penetration as per ISO 11607-1 and ASTM F1929. To do this, a special test fluid is pipetted into the pouch or film tube. Any irregularities (e.g. channels) therefore become immediately visible. Thanks to the practical pipette, sealing seams can be tested from both sides. The hawo InkTest comes in a 75 ml bottle with the eyedroppers and a drip container.
DYE PENETRTATION TEST. INJECTION METHOD.
hawo InkTest PRO hawo InkTest PRO HDPE (new) The InkTest PRO is a new generation of ink tests for the routine testing of sealing seams as per ISO 11607-1 and ASTM F1929. The new InkTest PRO HDPE (red) is suitable for Tyvek1 packaging. Any irregularities that occur (e.g. channels) become visible immediately after the single-use cartridge is printed on. No pipettes or other tools are needed to fill it. There is no danger of the test liquid dripping or transferring onto other objects on your workstation or your clothes and skin. The hawo InkTest PRO and InkTest HDPE comes in packaging designed especially for ease of use (30 x) with the aluminium packaging ensuring that the ink is protected from sunlight. > See www.hawo.TV for more information.

PRODUCT OVERVIEW LABELLING SYSTEMS PERFECT LABELLING.
VeriDoc-I hawo VeriDoc-I is an identification system for packaging and products in all areas. The heart of the VeriDoc-I system is the new PrintBox from hawo. Using this compact print server, the data read by the barcode scanner (hawo IntelligentScan technology) is transmitted to the connected label printer and printed. No additional computer peripheral equipment is required to record important packaging information and print it onto a label. Even when the print server is switched off, all of the data recorded via the barcode scanner is retained and the production and expiry dates are updated automatically. VeriDoc-I is therefore the perfect addition to existing packaging solutions.
INTEGRATION OF ALL PACKAGING SYSTEMS. Depending on the outcome of the visual inspection following the packaging process, a label is printed with an appropriate comment. If a fault is discovered, the packaging must not be used. Information such as the batch number, the name of the packager, the product designation or various use-by dates are transferred using the easy-to-operate barcode scanner and a custom-created barcode list to the PrintBox. This information is then, following a passed visual inspection, output together with the use-by date on a label for the packaging labelling.
