MVR Kickstart a Revolution in Virtual Reality Gaming Who is MVR? MVR is an emerging British virtual reality brand that aims to bridge the gap between high-end and budget headsets. Currently in production, the Ascend H1 Headsets have been designed to work with XBox One or PlayStation 4 – each headset will also be compatible with PCs. This means that the MVR headsets are the first devices on the market to support multi-device functionality. The headsets are British designed and to the highest quality – setting the benchmark for virtual reality in the UK. MVR will be promoting a Kickstarter campaign from 18th October 2016 to raise funds to complete production. Click here to view the campaign. What makes MVR stand out? Bridging the gap between budget and high-end headsets The current UK SRP is set to be £159 for the PlayStation 4 model and £189 for the XBox One model. High-end competitor models such as the HTC Hive and Oculus Rift retail between £300 - £700, whilst lower-end models such as the Google Daydream retail at £69. ‘Tether-free’ compatibility The MVR Ascend H1 is not only the mid-range headset, it also supports tether-free gameplay – allowing users to use the device with either a PlayStation 4 or XBox One and a PC, in addition to VR smartphone apps. Setting itself apart from competitor models that only support smartphone devices or games consoles. British Designed and manufactured MVR is a British brand and the Ascend H1 was designed in London. The headset will also be manufacted in Britain. How it Works The headset Users are taken into a virtual reality through the Ascend H1 headset and thanks to interchangable lens adapters, they can switch between 2D and 3D experiences. Comfort is key, as the IPD (Inter Pupillary Distance) can be adjusted to optimise visual comfort and those who wear glasses have ample space to use the headset with a pair on. Thanks to a flip-up function, users need not take the headset off when taking a break. A simple push of the ‘flip up’ button will bring the player back to reality without having to take the gear off. In terms of gameplay, the Ascend H1 features a patent pending external sensor – allowing users to control the game using head movements in first person games. This action mimics the analogue stick/ D-Pad via external sensors. The Ascend headphones will take players into sensory overload. A built in speaker system provides a truly immersive VR expeirence. Furthermore, the headset features call answer buttons, giving users easy phone access. The controller The Ascend controllers are suited to either PC, XBox One or PlayStation 4 gamers. A game selector screen provides pre-loaded sensor optimised game profiles – optimising the VR experience. An ADS (Aim Down Sight) function on the controller lets users assign one or more of the shoulder buttons as an ADS button. This function enables players to instantly disengage the external head sensor and return to ‘normal’ play, for precise ‘sniper mode’ movement. To re-engage, players simply need to press the button again. The Ascend headset also comes with a detachable cable, meaning players can connect up to a PlayStation 4 or XBox One console and play games the ‘traditional way’. Compatibility PC gamers can rejoice thanks to compatibility with the free Moonlight App. Users can connect their smartphone to give a wireless screen for PC. Nvidia GTX’s proprietary GameStream technology is implemented to give players a low latency wireless game play. The PlayStation 4 version is compatible with Android smartphones, whilst the XBox One version is set to be compatible with all smartphones. Get supporting on Kickstarter As an emerging brand, MVR require funds to complete production.
