From here, all speakers are designed and handcrafted by skilled professionals and then shipped to customers and dealers worldwide. We believe that in-house design and production is the key to great loudspeakers. Creating all our designs in-house makes us able to design every millimeter of the drivers to fit our requirements down to the smallest detail. All designs are made by our inhouse design team led by chief designer Borresen who has over 30 years of experience in creating loudspeaker drivers. They developed a distinct flair for the finer nuances in loudspeaker design and, in the quest for musical realism, and they are not afraid of experimenting with new, exotic materials to enhance the drivers’ performance close to perfection. 04 05 UNIQUE RAIDHO ACOUSTICS TECHNOLOGY HANDCRAFTED IN DENMARK RAIDHO RIBBON TWEETER Raidhos one-of-a-kind sealed-ribbon tweeter employs an array of neodymium magnets to create an extremely powerful force field, in which an ultra-thin membrane is suspended. The weight of the membrane in the Raidho Ribbon Tweeter is less than 0.02 grams. Due to the low membrane mass, the tweeter stores no energy and has no resonances. This special tweeter design does not leave any ‘sonic fingerprint’, which makes its performance extraordinaire. RAIDHO CERAMIX AND RAIDHO DIAMOND DRIVERS The Raidho bass and mid-range drivers are all built around super-ridged pistonic membranes. The Raidho Ceramix Driver is based on an aluminum-ceramic sandwich membrane. The ceramic sandwich is much lighter and has a higher placed resonance than a solid ceramic membrane would have. Due to the structure of the sandwich, it is also far better damped than any solid ceramic membrane, with its fundamental resonances merely being 3 dB bumps instead of the normal 10 to 12 dB peaks, and with the fundamental resonances located in the 12-15 kHz region. The Raidho Diamond Driver is built with the same ceramic membrane as the Raidho Ceramix Driver. The difference is that the membrane of the Raidho Diamond Driver is built with a 10 um-thick diamond layer on both sides. The diamond layers have a profound influence on the membrane stiffness and thus the fundamental resonances of the drivers, which are moved up to more than 20 kHz on the 115 mm membrane. You can read more about our Raidho Diamond Driver on page 20. RAIDHO VERTICAL MAGNET SYSTEM The Raidho vertical push-pull magnet system has a unique open structure. While the system is fully magnetically saturated, at the same time it also ensures extremely low pressure compression of dynamic transients. The structure of the magnet system also reduces dynamic unlinearities leading to unwanted dynamic distortions. THE RAIDHO CROSSOVER Unlike most other companies, we use a current diversion crossover. This type of filter locks the drivers together in the transition zone, because the drivers share the same current. Under heavy transient loads, driver parameters change, but through the use of current diversion crossovers the drivers remain locked together in a truly unique manner. The great thing about this type of crossover is that the sonic image is much more stable and focused.We also develop and manufacture coils and capacitors for our crossovers in-house at Raidho. Here, our main focus is mechanical stability as well as minimizing inductance for the capacitors. 06 07 WHAT IS THE “T” ALL ABOUT? The Raidho X and X-T series of loudspeakers are all built around the same Raidho X-driver that has a very compact and magnetically rigid neodymium magnet motor system. The X and X-T drivers both share an extremely rigid ceramic cone manufactured in a Pio plasma process over 80 hours where a ceramic composition layer is formed in liquid thru a high current/voltage process. The resulting membrane is a sandwich where two extremely stiff ceramic skin layers encapsulates a much softer aluminum core. This sandwich construction has two great benefits for audio reproduction, 1. the cone is very stiff, and 2. It has very very good damping properties. The X driver is truly state of the art in this respect, where the cone works pistonic up to more than 10 KHz and where the first order resonance is a peak of less than 6dB. This makes for a drivers with a membrane that is extremely “quiet” in its working range from the deepest bass and until it is rolled off at app 3Khz. The X-T driver is a further refinement of this already incredible X- driver to make excellent into incredible. The T is Titanium, what we do is that we in a vacuum aided process ad layers of titanium nitride and pure titianium on top of the ceramic X driver membrane. This transforms the X ceramic sandwich cone into an even stiffer and better damped 7 layer sandwiched cone. Now with a first fundamental resonance of 15 KHz and a breakup resonance of only 3 dB… Is it significant..? Oh yes it is, while we can’t really tell the difference in measurements on the final speaker, then we can by listening. Clarity and blackness of the background is greatly enhanced to a degree that will leave you amazed over the richness of instruments and natural details emerging form your music collection. Realism grows and it will really let you explore the intent and fines of your favorite artists. We put the T in the X. Raidho speakers, the X-1 and XT-1, are elegant and compact size standmount mini monitors.The speaker is built with the Raidho Ribbon Tweeter and a bass/mid-range driver with ceramic membrane and ceramic/ titanium membranes. The mid-range drivers feature our newly developed neodymium based magnet system in a long throw and low compression design. The loudspeakers are primarily designed for smaller rooms and can be placed relatively close to the rear wall. The X-1 and XT-1 are also very ideal for studio work and near-field monitoring. 08 X-1 XT-1 09 “ SLIM AND ELEGANT LIKE A BALLET DANCER WITH SCALE AND POWER THAT DEFIES ITS SIZE” Simply one of our best efforts, spend a few hours in the company of X-2/ XT-2 and get seduced into a musical landscape of the greatest intensity. The X-2 family is a 2,5 way design with two 4” Raidho X-drivers and one Raidho tweeter. While quite small and compact you’ll be amazed just how much music a pair of X-2’s can project into your room. Seamless, flawless It renders the tiniest of details on a pitch-black background. 10 X-2 XT-2 11 “STOP THE WORDS, LET THE MUSIC PLAY” The Raidho X-3 and XT-3 are a 3-way Raidho loudspeaker designs. The XT-3 is equipped with four dedicated 4-inch ceramic, ceramic/titanium mid-bass drivers and one 8-inch side-mounted bass driver. Central is the Raidhos one-of-a-kind sealed-ribbon tweeter that employs an array of neodymium magnets to create an extremely powerful force field, in which an ultra-thin membrane is suspended. The C-1.2 has been on the market for a number of years and has already become a Raidho classic with numerous awards and ‘Best Buys’. The C-1.2 is built around the Raidho Ribbon Tweeter and the unique Raidho Ceramix Driver. In order to obtain the best speaker performance, the C-1.2 is best placed on low-mass Raidho speaker stands. 14 C-1.2 15 “YOU WON’T FIND ITS DRIVERS IN SPEAKERS MADE BY ANY OTHER COMPANY, NOR WILL YOU HEAR THIS SORT OF SOUND FROM ANY OTHER PRODUCT. ME, I’M A BELIEVER” JEFF FRITZ, ULTRA AUDIO The Raidho C-2.2 is a 2.5-way floorstanding loudspeaker. It is built with the same unique qualities as the C-1.2, but with a somewhat larger cabinet and an additional Raidho Ceramix Driver. This relieves the workload on the upper Ceramix Driver, which results in a deeper bass and an even higher dynamic headroom. The extended bass frequency and the larger dynamic contrasts give the music performance more substance and a very natural tone color. 16 C-2.2 17 “SPEAKERS THAT BREAK THE REALITY BARRIER ARE EXTREMELY RARE, BUT THAT’S EXACTLY WHAT THE RAIDHO C3 DOES” STEVE GUTTENBERG, CNET The Raidho C-3.2 is a true 3-way speaker design. It is built with a dedicated Raidho Ceramix mid-range driver and three Raidho Ceramix woofers, which are paired up with the Raidho Ribbon Tweeter. The greatest advantage of the 3-way design is that the narrower pass-band of the drivers makes it possible to optimize and tailor them closer to the desired sonic capabilities. The optimization of the drivers makes the moving mass of our mid-range smaller, the membrane lighter and stiffer, and makes it possible to fit the mid-range with a lighter and an even softer spider and surround. This allows for more resolution and better transient handling in the music performance where the mid-range meets the tweeter. The C-3.2 is designed for mid-sized rooms, and it will let you get the very best out of your music collection. 18 C-3.2 19 20 21 WHAT IS DIAMOND AND WHAT MAKES IT SO UNIQUE? THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ALUMINUM OXIDE AND DIAMOND Diamond tops Mohs’ scale with a hardness rating of 10, whereas the aluminum oxide, used in our C-series, is a 9 on the same scale. Although, one may think that there is not far between 9 and 10 on Mohs’ scale, we measured the surface hardness on our diamond membrane to be 140 times harder than the surface on our aluminum oxide membrane. CULTIVATED DIAMONDS Cultivated diamonds are formed by a number of different processes in which carbon atoms are forced extremely close together (by pressure or by speed) resulting in hard triangular diamond sp3 bonds. NATURAL DIAMONDS Diamond is carbon in its most concentrated form. Natural diamonds are rare and formed under extreme pressure deep under the ground. Pure diamond is pure crystalline bonded in an sp3 triangular structure, and it has a clear and glass-like appearance. For our diamond membrane, we use cultivated diamond equal to 1.5 to 3 carat of pure diamond, depending on membrane size. RAIDHO DIAMOND DRIVER MEMBRANE At Raidho Acoustics, our ceramic membranes are bombarded by carbon ions travelling at a speed close to the speed of light. In the process, we can reach around 50% sp3 bonds in a 10 um-thick layer we build on top of the ceramic surface of our membranes.We haveª found that a 50% division between sp2 and sp3 is the optimum point for process ability, atomic bonding and the improvements in membrane stiffness ratio. The rest of the material is sp2-bonded carbon (graphite). This graphite content gives the diamond layer a beautiful charcoal grey finish. The application of diamond to our membranes has improved the membrane stiffness to an extent, where we push the first fundamental frequency outside the 20 kHz pass-band that we normally associate with audio reproduction. This means that the resonance peak (which is “only” 3 dB) is damped by more than 36 dB by the crossover. It also means that the resonance is moved way up in the frequency band, where the energy content in the music signal is almost non-existing. With diamond membranes, we are able to remove those last bits of material colorations, which emerge from inner material vibrations, completely. While the C-series already has become a reference point for resolution and for natural and live-like musical reproduction, the D-series just takes you that one step closer to the “real thing”. To be honest, we were astonished by the fact that something, you cannot even measure on the speaker system, could make such a profound difference to the ear.
