BEFORE USE Check that the voltage of the appliance corresponds to the mains voltage of your home. Remove all packaging from INSIDE and OUTSIDE and be sure you understand the controls. Therefore, BE SURE TO READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS FIRST BEFORE PROCEEDING. MAKE SURE IT IS SITUATED IN LINE WITH THE IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS outlined in this booklet. Never use the AirChef with anything that you would not otherwise use inside a regular oven, or are not designated as oven-‐proof / oven ready by their manufacturer. Wash the accessories and bowl in warm soapy water, rinse well and dry thoroughly before first use. It is normal if some smoke or odour emanates from the appliance when first used. BEFORE FIRST USE…practice with the Tongs, the Rotor Fryer opening hook and correctly lowering the lid (using the safety catch). Practice with the AirChef switched off, disconnected and empty.
HOW TO OPERATE
Firstly, you must decide if you are cooking with the rack, rotisserie or Rotor Fryer. Use the rack if you are using the AirChef as a regular halogen oven; use the rotisserie fork assembly for rotary cooked food such as rotisserie chicken; use the Rotor Fryer accessory for chips (fresh or frozen) and other small items such as chicken nuggets, stir fry that can be tumbled and cooked in halogen hot air. ALWAYS COOK WITH THE BOWL IN PLACE.

Ensure the AirChef is cool and unplugged Raise the Lid, ensure the appliance is cool. Fit the rack (choose a side), rotisserie spindle or Rotor Fryer basket (requires rotisserie spindle but not forks). NEVER COOK without any of the above accessories in place. Close the lid, remember to activate the safety catch; press Start! Set the cooking duration and temperature or use the Guide menus (and use the + or – to adjust the duration and temperature); set the Delay timer if appropriate. Press Start! again to initiate the cooking process Check every now and then in case the meal needs stirring or basting At the end, it will beep 3 times, cooking will stop though the fan may continue Switch off at the power supply Open the lid Serve from the bowl (if appropriate) or remove rotisserie spindle and place on the triangular wireform rotisserie support or remove the Rotor Fryer assembly and place on that same triangular wireform rotisserie support Keep lid open to aid cooling and help prolong the life of your AirChef When cool, the bowl and accessories can be lifted out and washed (dishwasher is OK) Refit after washing, note the bowl may require pushing in to fit (this is entirely normal) Store in a dry place…keep on your worktop to use next time!

The rack can be placed either way, the long legs downwards raise it towards the heat source; there will be little discernible difference in cooking time, but you’ll get more browning the nearer the heat source your food is.
Using the rotisserie, take care to check that rotation is not impaired when the lid is closed AND that the food does not contact with the heat source or its guard in the lid. NEVER have the rotation impaired or the food just clearing the guard inside the head (when closed) – you will cook unevenly and shorten the life of your AirChef (food spatter will damage the halogen heater, not covered by your warranty). Assemble the rotisserie forks; note the forks are placed with the tightening key on either side of the spindle. Spear the food (typically chicken) on the forks; tighten the forks accordingly.
Then fit into the AirChef; the Rotor Fryer fits in the same way (see pictures below), the rotisserie spindle (without forks) threaded through the centre of the Rotor Fryer basket Pointed end into hole, through bowl, by lid hinge
Square, blunt end with groove – the groove fitting the bracket opposite on other side of bowl, opposite to the lid hinge
4) Grip the lid handle, lift the lid fractionally and, with your other hand,
push down the safety lock (at the hinge) to release the lid and allow it to close, always supporting the weight by the lid handle. If you’re cooking with the rotisserie, ensure the lid does not foul – or just miss – the rotisserie food (remember to check in rotation). Press Start! (though nothing will happen until you either select and adjust a Guide Menu or you press Start! again, having set cooking duration and temperature manually). 5) The Guide Menus comprise several preset cooking temperatures and times, both parameters can be adjusted. Firstly, select the appropriate Guide menu closest to what you’re cooking or the temperature/time you want – there is an indicator for each of the Guide menus displayed in the LCD panel. Each press of the Guide Menu button cycles through the presets as described below, in the order as per below. Rapid Roast Fries Bake 15 mins Pizza Grill Skewer Rotor Then use the Temperature/Time selector to choose which parameter to adjust – the LCD displays these icons and each will blink when selected, then use the + and – buttons to increase or decrease that parameter. o o For Temperature, each press of the + or – equates to 10 , the range is 50-‐230 C For Time, each press of the + or – equates to 1 minute, hold the + or – down to move by 10 minutes; the cooking time range is 1-‐60 minutes.
If you wish to program cooking at a later time, you can set it to start up to 9 hours 59 minutes from setting; follow these steps here: Press Start! to activate AirChef; press Delay Timer and use the + or – keys to set the future start point – a single press of either key equates to 1 minute, a long press equates to 20 minutes. Press Start! again. Then select the Guide Menu and adjust as described earlier.
6) When you’re ready…press Start! to commence cooking. The
AirChef very very quickly gets up to the set temperature, and you will typically save that amount of time (and energy) when compared to a regular oven. Note: to Start cooking, the Start! button has to be pressed on two occasions (in Delay Timer mode, it is pressed three times). To Stop cooking, press that Start! button again. To Pause cooking, lift the lid – note that the rotor function will remain active, heating only will Pause; program will resume once the lid is closed (remember to use the safety catch). 11) Take care when handling after cooking, your food and the AirChef will be hot, and will remain hot for some time afterwards. Place cooked rotisserie on cradle Use the safety tongs to lift the Rotor Fryer out.
The Rotor Fryer will be hot after use, so handle with care and wear oven gloves/mitts. Place in the cradle.

Caution: never immerse the appliance in water or any other liquid. Make sure the plug has been removed from the power socket. Wait until the unit is completely cool before cleaning. Do not touch the underside of the Cooking Lid as it will stay hot for quite some time after you have unplugged the appliance. Do not use abrasive cloths/liquid, as this will damage the AirChef. Clean Lid and the inside (once bowl is removed) with a damp cloth only. The bowl can be cleaned in the dishwasher, but note that frequent cleaning in the dishwasher may result in fading of the non-‐stick coating. If the non-‐stick coating has been damaged by abrasion with the accessories, do not wash in the dishwasher as this will only exacerbate the problem. The accessories can be cleaned the dishwasher, and for burnt on food debris it may help to soak the parts. Replacements are available from us. To clean the metal perforated grid on the underside of the lid, wipe with a cloth. However you MUST ensure no liquid falls on the components that are shielded by the metal grid. In use and with cooking, it will become discoloured. This is normal and not a cause for concern or return. You can avoid this happening by use of the Heater Mesh Guard (see the back page of this manual) which will need changing maybe once or twice a year depending on your usage cycle. Thoroughly dry all parts of the appliance. KEEP the packing with which the accessories were packed when you first opened the box…you can use these to protect the non-‐stick surface of the bowl when stowing the accessories after use. OR use a tea-‐towel or other soft material to ensure the accessories don’t damage the bowl’s surface.
COOKING Hints & Tips
Always leave room for air to circulate around the food – don’t pile the food up and always to leave a gap by the bowl side for the air to circulate. No circulation means no cooking. ! When cooked, you can keep warm/hot by selecting a lower than cooking temperature. ! Typically, cooking temperatures for conventional ovens (fan-‐assisted) will be similar to your new AirChef, but the overall time can be reduced by the pre-‐heat time of a regular oven (provided you allow room for the hot air to circulate around the bowl and the food). ! Experiment on first use, and ALWAYS test food is well cooked through, always select the thickest part and check inside that it is properly cooked, not pink! ! If in doubt, follow the Fan Assisted oven times on frozen and pre-‐packaged food, ignore any reference to pre-‐heat (because the AirChef is so efficient and fast). ! Anything you can cook in a conventional oven…you can cook in your new AirChef. Just ensure the air can circulate around the food. Item Minutes Fresh Minutes Frozen Temp. before settling into steady state operation. Ensure the power socket is suitable for this power. In older houses, or where you have a sensitive RCD type fuse board, you may have a perennial problem with nuisance tripping. It’s not the fault of the AirChef and not a valid reason for return.

is not a cause for concern or valid reason for return. We suggest to clean it with warm soapy water as described elsewhere, or maybe a small amount toothpaste on a cloth. Toothpaste is mildly abrasive, so use it sparingly, but it can be useful in cleaning once all else has failed. Don’t let toothpaste adhere to other parts of the AirChef, especially inside.

MY NEW AIRCHEF SEEMS TO BE WORKING INTERMITTENTLY, THE LIGHTS GOING ON & OFF. IS THIS NORMAL? There is automatic temperature regulation and so the halogen heating element cycles on and off in use. This is entirely normal and is not a cause for concern or valid reason for return. Check also that the Lid is firmly locked downwards: there is a safety device that cuts the power (but the timer will continue counting down) if the Lid is raised (or not correctly stowed). I LOVE MY AIRCHEF. CAN I USE ANYTHING IN IT? Anything you would use in a regular oven, you can use in your AirChef. Just make sure the air can circulate, so always cook with a rack. Always. I’M BURNING FOOD. IS THERE SOMETHING WRONG? Your new AirChef is very efficient, you will find that cooking time is reduced over conventional cooking methods and you need less power too. Always check that meat and fish is cooked through, though. THE ROTISSERIE GOES IN DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS SOMETIMES. It is designed to have bi-‐directional ability in the event of rotation block.
