TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS S12 Product Group: Multipurpose Stage System Type: Two-way Full Range FEATURES AND ADVANCES • Coaxial Design for seamless coverage • Easy Grip Handles and Integrated Pole Mount • Stage Monitor Cut • Low Distortion Touring Class Components • Switchable Bi-Amp and Passive Amplification • Flush Mount Wrap-Around Grill • Additional Side Mounted NL4 Connectors PRODUCT DESCRIPTION The S12 is a two-way, full range, multipurpose stage monitor featuring a coaxial 12” loudspeaker with 1.4” exit compression driver mounted to a proprietary 70° x 55° waveguide. The coupling of the cone loudspeaker and high frequency waveguide has been specially engineered to produce a rich vocal presence with a nearly flat response from 75Hz – 18kHz. The S12 can be powered in either a bi-amplified or passive mode selectable from a jack panel switch. To simplify stage cable layout, an additional two NL4 connectors are available on the right and left side of the enclosure. Each S-series coaxial product has a versatile rigging system, a 35°, 55° and 75° stage monitor cut, and pole mount. CONSTRUCTION APPLICATIONS • Live Sound • Auditoriums • Sports Venues • Portable Sound Reinforcement • Club Sound Systems • Performing Arts Centers • Houses of Worship PERFORMANCE PARAMETERS System Type Frequency Response -10dB +/- 3dB Sensitivity Passive LF HF Maximum SPL Passive LF HF Crossover Data Power Handling Passive LF HF The McCauley Sound S series is a family of full bandwidth multipurpose loudspeakers engineered specifically for professional touring, staging and commercial applications. Each loudspeaker enclosure is optimized for superior sound quality and power handling while maintaining a very small footprint and low stage profile. Flush mounted, wrap-around grills are used on all S series products to reduce cabinet reflections. Each full range product offers switchable bi-amp and passive modes, a pole mount and various stage monitor cuts. Two sub-woofer systems, with integrated pole mounts, are available for applications which demand increased low frequency. 70° x 55°, 2-Way, Full Range 60Hz - 20kHz 75Hz - 18kHz 96dB @ 2.83V 1 m 96dB @ 2.83V 1 m 107dB @ 4.0V 1 m (cont. / peak) 127dB / 133dB 127dB / 133dB 129dB / 135dB 1200Hz @ 24dB per octave (AES / Program / Peak) 600W / 1200W / 2400W @ 8Ω 500W / 1000W / 2000W @ 8Ω 75W / 150W/ 300W @ 16Ω The enclosure is constructed of 18mm 13-ply void-free birch plywood and is coated with a weather and wear resistant ProCoat™ polyurea hybrid finish. Loudspeaker components are protected by a perforated steel grill lined with acoustically transparent foam. The grill and rigging components are weather protected with a heat cured epoxy powder coat finish. The high frequency transducer shall be mounted to a true constant directivity acoustic waveguide with a nominal 70° H x 55° V coverage pattern. The low frequency transducer shall be mounted in an optimally vented enclosure tuned for a flat low frequency response with -3dB point at 75Hz. The processed system frequency response shall vary no more than ±3 dB from 75 Hz to 18 kHz measured on axis. The low frequency transducer shall produce a Sound Pressure Level (SPL) of 96 dBSPL at a distance of 1 meter with an electrical input of 2.83V, and shall be capable of producing a maximum peak output of 133 dBSPL on axis at 1 meter. The high frequency transducer shall produce an SPL of 107 dBSPL on axis at 1 meter with an electrical input of 4V, and shall be capable of producing a maximum peak output of 135 dBSPL on axis at 1 meter. The low frequency transducer shall handle up to 500 W of amplifier power (per AES Standard AES2-2012) and shall have a nominal impedance of 8 Ω. The high frequency transducer shall handle 75 W of amplifier power (per AES Standard AES2-2012) and shall have a nominal impedance of 16 Ω. The loudspeaker enclosure shall have a maximum weight of 55.0 lbs. (25.0 kg) and shall measure 13.0 in. (330.20mm) in height at the back, 19.01 in. (482.85mm) in width, and 18.5 in. (469.9mm) in depth from front to back. The enclosure shall have angled sides for use as a stage monitor that shall be 30°, 35° and 75° as measured from the baffle board. The enclosure shall be constructed of 18mm 13-ply void-free birch plywood and shall have a weather and wear resistant ProCoat™ polyurea hybrid finish. Components in the front of the enclosure shall be protected by a grill made from perforated steel that is coated with heat cured epoxy powder, and lined with acoustically transparent foam. Electrical input connectors shall be two, 30 A, 250 V rated, Neutrik NL4 connectors wired in parallel. Pins 1+, 1- shall be wired to the LF transducers, while pins 2+, 2- shall be wired to the HF transducers. Parallel pass-through connections between NL4 connectors shall be made with 12 AWG wire. A switch shall be provided on the rear panel for selection between passive and bi-amp modes of operation. The two-way full range loudspeaker shall be the McCauley Sound S12.
