This type of creative huddle areas appear all over the campus, in libraries, computer classes, common spaces and even in classrooms. They are the perfect setting for spontaneous, short and very productive sharing of ideas. For any of the meeting participants is it key to quickly display content from a BYOD. With weConnect these often unstructured types of group work suddenly become a very effective and interactive way of collaborating. Make the huddle space interactive. Extend the capabilities of the basic huddle space by allowing more users to simultaneously share content and giving one of the participants the possibility to take up a moderator role to control the environment. Barco The BYOD Classroom The Connected BYOD Lecture Hall This simple and affordable classroom system allows teacher and students to interact using their own laptops, mobile phones and tablets, allowing sharing with multiple students at the same time on the classroom display. A lecture hall is typically a complex multi-screen environment. weConnect offers the possibility to manage all screens and automatically changes the behavior of the displays according to the selected scenario. Whether it is a moderated lecture, an overflow scenario or a connection with a remote classroom, the system will automatically present the relevant audio, data and video feeds on the available displays. This allows the teacher to focus only on teaching and creating an engaging experience. BYOD is not only about mirroring content to displays − personal devices are an essential collaborative interaction tool. So, the system comes with an optional web app to allow students and teachers to work in groups, accessing any content, annotate it and store it locally on their devices or share notes with the class. The teacher is no longer a lecturer, but a coach, who supports students, working together in smaller groups at their own pace. The teacher moves from table to table to give guidance and share insights. On the teacher’s tablet a full preview and moderation control is given over the room, different workgroups and sources. With weConnect both teacher and students can share on the main screen and on the group screens in the classroom. He can lock student tables to allow students to focus on his content. He can also push content from the main screen to all student tables and he can preview all student content per table and then decide to pull student content to main classroom display. By combining the available software and hardware components, IT departments can build a system for one small campus, or a complete university spread over several continents. Campus network Internet browser Barco’s collaborative learning solution uses the physical infrastructure of the existing campus network. This not only includes the WiFi network, with optional single sign on (SSO) but provides secure access to the institution’s network. Extra services are provided to support discovery and connectivity over multiple WLANs and networks. The cloud-managed platform contains a fully featured administration web application to enable facilities with monitoring and management control over the system. A web-based cloud app gives all users access to the classroom system. With the app, you enter the lecture and get to use the classroom system. Using the simple browser interface, both teacher and student experience the flexibility and intuitiveness of the software. Students can ask questions, show content, and interact with the teacher in the form of quizzes and polls. Teachers get full moderation control of the content shared within the classroom. Complex network design The networking equipment is used to distribute content, including video and audio in classrooms, on the campus, and over the internet. Typically, networks for student access, infrastructure components and services are separated. Communication between networks and services passes through a secure proxy with a diode function. Via the internet, the media gateway provides the media links to remote sites.
