Set of four keys * with identifying tags
*The keys are associated with the Luna EFT front-panel keyed switches for the following functions (viewed from front, left-to-right): • Power - a spring-loaded switch [OC1] (momentary-contact switch like automobile ignition); operation is to insert key, twist-and-release; result when power is off is that system begins power-up sequence; result when power is already on is that system begins orderly shutdown, then switches off. • Enable Console - two position switch [OC3]; operation is to insert key and turn clockwise; result is that key is trapped while in that position and the local console (a monitor, keyboard, and mouse that you connect) can access the appliance. • Reset - a spring-loaded switch [OC1] (momentary-contact switch); operation is to insert key, twist-andrelease; result is an orderly shutdown (file system is closed properly) followed by restart - system remains powered throughout. • Erase Memory - a spring-loaded switch [OC2] (momentary-contact switch); operation is to insert key, twistand-release; result is to wipe the memory of the Luna EFT, clearing any proprietary key material; the system software remains unaffected; the appliance cannot be accessed either remotely or via local console until reset; after reset, display shows all keys have been destroyed. The Power and Reset keyed switches accept the same key.
The Enable Console and the Erase Memory keyed switches are each unique and have their own keys that are not interchangeable within your key set.

Install brackets if appropriate for your equipment rack. The brackets can be installed in different orientations and combinations to fit various rack configurations.
2
Mount the appliance in your equipment rack. (If the provided brackets are not adaptable to your situation, you can install the provided, optional rubber feet to the underside of the appliance, for use on a bench or for tray-mount. If neither option is suitable, please ask the supplier of your rack system for specialized hardware.)
3
Read and remove License Seal that is placed across AC Power Connector. DO NOT PUSH POWER PLUG THROUGH SEAL. Connect the power cable at the rear panel. You can optionally connect the network cable (not supplied), at this time, if you are using the software version that incorporates Ethernet or TCP/IP communications OR connect the serial cable (supplied) if you are using the software version with Async. communications. Set power-supply switch, on the rear panel, to the “on” position (with the “ | ” symbol depressed). This energizes the power supply and powers the internal real-time clock, but does not start the appliance. The power-supply switch must be in the “on” position before you can start the appliance using the front-panel keyed switch (see below). Note: The power-supply switch is not available on the refreshed hardware. Instead, a set of power keys on the front panel energize the power supply to the appliance.

7
• Insert the “Power” key (blue tag) into the “Power” keyed switch, twist/rotate it clockwise as far as it goes (45 degrees) and immediately release, to start the Luna EFT appliance.
8
• The appliance indicates that it is functioning properly by activating the LCD display, first with “Starting Luna EFT”, followed by “Performing SelfTest”, and when the system is in running mode, the LCD displays a series of messages in rotation.

ABOUT THE SERIAL CABLE AND ADAPTER The provided serial cable is wired “cross-over”, for connecting two similar devices (such as two computers), not “straight-through”, as would be used to connect a computer to a modem. The 9-pin-to-25-pin adapter is wired as shown in the table below.
