CP2000-ZX LVPS Upgrade Instruction Sheet INTRODUCTION Use the following instructions when upgrading the Low Voltage Power Supply (Tectrol to Astec model) in CP2000-ZX (116-001101-xx, 116-001113-xx, 116-001124-xx) projectors. The entire procedure takes approximately 45 minutes to complete. KIT REQUIRED 003-003075-01 CP2000-ZX LVPS Upgrade Kit (includes low voltage power supply complete with AC and DC harnessing in place, 1/8”plastic slot driver, instructions) TOOLS REQUIRED CP2000-ZX: • Phillips #3, #2 (long stem) • Wrench (to loosen ground nut) • 1/8” plastic slot driver (for LVPS POT adjustments in CP2000-ZX projectors) SAFETY AND WARNING GUIDELINES HIGH VOLTAGES MAY BE EXPOSED: Always power down and disconnect power sources prior to servicing. Once the projector is powered down, allow the cooling fans to automatically turn OFF before disconnecting from AC and opening the projector. Depending on your projector model this can take 10-15 minutes. QUALIFIED SERVICE TECHNICIANS REQUIRED: All module replacement procedures must be performed by qualified service technicians. NON-INSULATED DANGEROUS VOLTAGES MAY BE EXPOSED: Always disconnect from AC prior to disassembly. OBSERVE ALL ELECTROSTATIC PRECAUTIONS: Use a grounded wrist strap when handling electronic assemblies. Never operate the projector (or the fans) without all the covers installed. CP2000-ZX LVPS Upgrade Instruction Sheet 020-100461-01 Rev. 1 (11-2009) 1 of 5 INSTRUCTIONS FOR CP2000-ZX 1. Ensure power to the projector is OFF. 2. At the wall breaker, set the main AC circuit breaker to OFF. 3. Unlock and remove the top front cover. (Figure 1) Figure 1 4. Remove the LVPS/Ballast cover. (Figure 2) a. Loosen the 3 captive screws securing the cover to the chassis. b. Lift the cover enough to clear the tabs at the bottom and remove. Loosen the 2 screws securing the shield to the frame. Slide the shield off to gain access to LVPS harness connections. Figure 3 Remove EMI shield 6. Disconnect the DC harnesses (P1 & P2) from the Motherboard. TIP: For easier access to the DC harness connections, you may find it necessary to remove the black GPIO connector (J28) next to it first. (Figure 4) Figure 4 Disconnect P1 & P2 7. Remove the white plastic cover over the AC Relay, and disconnect the blue (top) and black (bottom) signal harnesses. (Figure 5) 8. Also from the AC Relay, disconnect the blue (2nd from the top) and brown (bottom) harnesses on the other side. Keep the white harnesses underneath intact. Remove the 4, M6 screws securing the LVPS assembly. NOTE: In -03 models remove the LED as well. Keep it for use with the new LVPS assembly. (Figure 6) Figure 6 Remove LVPS 11. Secure the new LVPS using the same mounting holes and hardware used with the old assembly. Orient the LVPS with the high-pot adjustments on the right-hand side. 12. Install the LED to the bottom left screw used to secure the LVPS to the firewall. (Figure 7) 13. Secure green harness (ground) to the main earth ground stud using the nut removed in STEP 9. (Figure 7) Figure 7 Install New LVPS 4 of 5 CP2000-ZX LVPS Upgrade Instruction Sheet 020-100461-01 Rev. 1 (11-2009) 14. Re-connect the four signal harnesses to the AC relay. TIP: Screws only need to be loosened to slip harnesses on. Refer back to Figure 5 for the location of signal harness connections. IMPORTANT! Loop the blue and black signal harnesses around the clip once (Figure 8) before connecting. Figure 8 15. Re-connect the DC harnesses from the LVPS to the Motherboard (PI & P2). 16. Re-connect J28 (black GPIO connector) to the Motherboard, if removed in STEP 6. 17. Replace the plastic AC relay cover. 18. Replace the EMI shield. 19. Replace the LVPS/Ballast cover. 20. Replace the top font cover. To adjust LVPS voltage rails: Use the non-conductive plastic slot driver provided in the service kit when adjusting the LVPS voltage rails on the CP2000-ZX LVPS. LVPS rail adjustment must be performed by a qualified service technician. 1. Remove the LVPS/ballast side cover. 2. Adjust POT’s to 3.366 +/-0.003v and 5.110v +/-0.003v. Observe the CDP to see the adjustment value of the rails. CP2000-ZX LVPS Upgrade Instruction Sheet 020-100461-01 Rev. 1 (11-2009) Figure 9 5 of 5
