About Cables If you use Newton Press or other Newton desktop products, you need a cable to connect your Newton personal digital assistant (PDA) to your computer.
Connecting to a Windows PC To connect your Newton PDA to your PC, you need a serial cable with a 9-pin to 8-pin connector. If your serial port has a 25-pin connector, you also need a 9-pin to 25-pin adapter. If you do not have a cable or adapter, you can purchase one from Apple. Call 1-800-211-1537 (U.S. and Canadian customers only) or contact your local Apple dealer for more information. In Australia, call Apple Software Upgrades at 1-800-631-125 or send a fax to 02-452-8204.
Connecting to a computer using the Macintosh operating system To connect your Newton PDA to your Macintosh computer, you need either a standard Macintosh serial cable (with mini-DIN-8 connectors on both ends) or an AppleTalk connection kit. You can purchase the cable or connection kit from any authorized Apple dealer or mail-order distributor.
