INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS Accessory Application CIGARETTE LIGHTER P/N 08U96-S6M-200 2003 RSX PARTS LIST Publications No. BII 24446 Issue Date SEP 2002 3. Cigarette lighter Turn the two knobs counterclockwise, and remove the driver’s dashboard lower cover by pulling it toward you (two retaining tabs and two hooks). Cigarette lighter harness HOOKS (2) RETAINING TABS (2) 3 Wire ties DRIVER’S DASHBOARD LOWER COVER KNOB TOOLS REQUIRED Flat-tip screwdriver 10 mm Combination wrench Diagonal cutters 4. Turn the knob clockwise and remove the driver’s dashboard under cover from the holder by pulling it toward you (one clip). INSTALLATION Customer Information: The information in this installation instruction is intended for use only by skilled technicians who have the proper tools, equipment, and training to correctly and safely add equipment to your vehicle. These procedures should not be attempted by “do-it-yourselfers.” 1. Make sure you have the anti-theft code for the radio, then write down the frequencies for the preset buttons. 2. BII 24446 (0209) 08U96-S6M-2001-91 1 of 5 5. Pull the center lower cover toward you to release the one retaining tab and six clips. 9. Open the lid, and remove the accessory socket from the center lower cover by releasing the two retaining tabs. LID RETAINING TAB CLIPS (6) VEHICLE 2-PIN CONNECTOR CENTER LOWER COVER ACCESSORY SOCKET 6. Unplug the vehicle 2-pin connector from the accessory socket, and remove the center lower cover. 7. Secure the 2-pin connector (black) of the cigarette lighter harness to the cigarette lighter harness with one wire tie. 12-PIN CONNECTOR ACCESSORY SOCKET RETAINING TAB CENTER LOWER COVER 10. Remove the accessory socket protector from the center lower cover by releasing the two retaining tabs. CIGARETTE LIGHTER HARNESS ACCESSORY SOCKET PROTECTOR GROUND TERMINAL WIRE 2-PIN CONNECTOR (BLACK) GROUND TERMINAL WIRE WIRE TIE 12-PIN CONNECTOR 8. 2 of 5 WIRE TIE Connect the 12-pin male and female connectors of the cigarette harness, then secure those 12-pin connectors and ground terminal wire to the cigarette lighter harness with one wire tie. Remove the bolt that secures the fuse box, and lower the fuse box. CENTER LOWER COVER 14. Unplug the vehicle 6-pin connector from the fuse box, and plug the 6-pin connector of the cigarette lighter harness there. NOTE: On M/T vehicles, there is no 6-pin connector plugged into the fuse box. CIGARETTE LIGHTER HARNESS VEHICLE 6-PIN CONNECTOR (A/T vehicles only) CIGARETTE LIGHTER HARNESS 6-PIN CONNECTOR RING 12. Align the locating tab of the socket with the cutout in the ring, and slide the socket of the cigarette lighter into the ring. On A/T vehicles, locate the 6-pin connector taped to the cigarette lighter harness, and remove the dummy connector. Plug the vehicle 6-pin connector you just unplugged from the fuse box into that connector. BII 24446 (0209) 3 of 5 16. If the vehicle is equipped with optional fog lights, plug the fog light harness 6-pin connector into the cigarette lighter harness. FUSE BOX 6-PIN CONNECTOR 19. Route the 2-pin connector of the cigarette lighter harness to the center lower cover opening. 20. Connect the 2-pin connectors of the cigarette lighter harness and the vehicle harness to the cigarette lighter. CIGARETTE LIGHTER HARNESS FOG LIGHT HARNESS CENTER LOWER COVER OPENING CIGARETTE LIGHTER HARNESS 2-PIN CONNECTOR CENTER LOWER COVER CIGARETTE LIGHTER HARNESS 17. Reinstall the fuse box. 18. Route the cigarette lighter harness above the steering shaft, then secure the cigarette lighter harness to the vehicle harness with one wire tie in the area shown. CIGARETTE LIGHTER HARNESS VEHICLE HARNESS 2-PIN CONNECTOR CIGARETTE LIGHTER SOCKET CIGARETTE LIGHTER 21. Reinstall the center lower cover, and push the cigarette lighter into the socket. 22. Check that all wire harnesses are routed properly and all connectors are plugged in. STEERING SHAFT 23. Reconnect the negative cable to the battery. 24. Reset the clock and the radio station presets. 25. Reinstall all removed parts. Make sure that all retaining clips and tabs are securely fastened. WIRE TIE VEHICLE HARNESS WIRE TIE VEHICLE HARNESS NOTE: Whenever the battery is disconnected, the driver’s window AUTO function is disabled. 26. Start the engine. Push down on the driver’s window switch until the window is fully open. 27. Pull up on the driver’s window switch to close the window completely, then hold the switch for a second or two more. 28. Do the ECM/PCM idle learn procedure. • Make sure all electrical items are turned off. • Start the engine. Hold the engine speed at 3,000 rpm with no load (in Park or Neutral) until the radiator fan comes on. • Let the engine idle for about 5 minutes with the throttle fully closed and with all electrical items off. NOTE: If the radiator fan comes on during this step, the time when it is operating must not be incuded in the 5 minutes. © 2002 American Honda Motor Co., Inc - All Rights Reserved.
