1. Game rules Start of 1. 2. 3.
the game/Set up: There are 4 players in the game. You, the player, are one of these 4 and the other 3 are AI. Computer randomly decides who starts the game. All players place two houses on the screen. A house must be connected to another house, and during the setup no house can be placed more than two spaces away from the water source or from the river. (possible places are highlighted) 4. All players receive water and money: 2 water and 3 Pesa. 5. At the beginning of the game the well is filled with 4 water and the river is already polluted with 2 tiles.
Playing a Round: During a round all the players take turns in taking actions. The first player starts, and the play proceeds ( same order as in the setup) Step 1. When it is your turn, you have to do at least 1 action. Choose an action from the list of possibilities (action menu). In the action menu you see what each action costs and /or gives you. You also see the consequence of you action, in the form of an event symbol. Step 2. When you have selected an action, you see the result on your game play-screen: You see an animation, water/money/houses added or subtracted from your inventory and the event symbol added to the event-inventory bar. You will also see the community score going up/down due to the event symbol ( see the community score table). Step 3. After your action is finished, the other players do one action, you see what they do as an animation on the screen and you see the event symbols added to the event-inventory bar. Step 4. Computer asks you if you would like to use another action. This action will cost you one water. You can only do this if you had more than 1 water in the beginning of the round. You cannot use water gained during your turn to buy more actions. You can never buy more than 3 actions. If you didn’t have water at the beginning of the round, the computer will tell you that your turn has ended. Step 5. After all the players have done their actions, the events-symbol that has the highest amount, highlights. This event will now happen. When there are more symbols-types that have an equal amount, the computer picks one randomly. Step 6. You will see a pop up which tells you what happens along with an animation. And the event symbols that have been used disappear from the event inventory bar. The rest of the symbols stay in the bar. Step 7. Start a new round. Every player gets one water and two water tokens are added to each well at the start of subsequent rounds. Winning the game
Easy: The game ends after 7 rounds. When the community score is above 0 then anybody who has managed to build 6 houses wins. Medium: The game ends after 10 rounds. When the community score is above 0 and a community building has been built then anybody who has managed to build 8 houses wins. Expert: The game ends after 15 rounds. When the community score is above 0 and there are three community buildings on the board, then anybody who has managed to build 10 houses wins. Losing the game at the end of all the rounds: When you have a community score below 0 and/or didn’t build enough houses and/or buildings. Losing the game before all the rounds have been played:

You lose the game when all of your houses are destroyed. Everybody loses the game when the entire river is polluted. When all the A.I. players have been destroyed, the game ends as well. There is no winner.
2. Levels Stages The game begins with a setup which exists of placing the houses on the board. The action round begins after the setup. When everybody has taken one or more actions, the event round begins. After the event round the first round of the game is ended. This process will repeat itself until the game ends. Before a player starts the game, he is asked to choose a level. - Easy - Medium - Expert The difference between the levels is the amount of rounds and the winning condition. In the expert level there could also be an AI player that has a extra task as an arsonist/gangster/polluter. - easy means the PC is playing 7 rounds and has to built 6 houses. - medium means the PC is playing 10 rounds and has to build 8 houses + that there should be one community building on the board by the end of the game. - expert means the PC is playing 15 rounds and has to build 10 houses + that there should be three community buildings on the board by the end of the game. One of the AI’s can have a secret roles.

3. Items & pickups Resources and trading The game has two types of resources: 1. Pesas: the game’s currency and is used to build houses and can be used to buy water, among other things. The other players can see how much Pesas you have. 2. Water: used to buy actions, without water a player cannot do very much, so having water is more important than having Pesas most of the time. Water is measured in units. There are different water tokens in the game. The water tokens have a value of 1, 2 or 3. These water tokens enter the game through the wells. While on the source their values are not revealed. When a player takes a water token its value will be clear by counting the value up to the inventory. The other players can see how much water you have. Houses Houses can be destroyed, either by the actions of other players, or by the events that happen at the end of a round. When a house is destroyed it will turn into a rubble token. Any player can build houses on rubble at a discount(2 Pesas instead of 3). Whenever one of your houses is destroyed by a player, you can take a revenge action to destroy a house of your choice. You can do this even when another player used a revenge card to destroy your house. You can’t use the revenge action after an event has destroyed your house. Wells Wells are very important as all players need water to get enough actions to build their houses in time. At the start of the game there is one well. When a well is built during the game it starts with an equal number of (unrevealed) water tokens as the number of players minus one. If at any moment during the game there are no water tokens on a water source it is destroyed. The well will be removed. Which is the least protected well? A well is better protected than another well if more players have access to it. If an equal number of players has access to two wells, than the well with the most houses is better protected. Actions If you go to ‘actions’ in the menu you will see a list of all the actions. Some actions you can always play. Other actions can only be played if you have enough money. If you don’t have enough money this action will be locked (little lock symbol). The event symbol and its according strength shows you how much good or bad effect your action will have on the community. Events (happens after an action round) After each action round the players (community) will have a certain amount of points. These points decide which events will then happen.
