UniVision VON Digital Network Codec
Digital Network Codec VON Description: VON is a high performance Video codec that sends and receives video, audio and data over IP network, LAN, WAN or MAN using MPEG-1, MPEG-2 or MPEG-4 compression (configurable via Server software of VON V-Partner™). VON adopts the professional video compression chips, so it has a high video performance. It meets all of the requirements of ISO/IEC 11172, ISO/IEC 13818 and ISO/IEC 14496. VON supports multi-frame rate. The frame rate is compatible with 25 fps for PAL and 30 fps for NTSC. VON supports the variable transmission bandwidth according to the situation of the operation network. The users can select the transmission bandwidth according to the situation of network via GUI server software V-Partner™ based on the PC VON codec provides 2 channels asynchronous serial port for Pan/Tilt/Zoom control and alarm signals transmission. So it makes the remote control and surveillance easier. VON video codec supports RTP/RTCP protocols. It can be used in environment of multicast, broadcasting, and end-to-end transmission. And VON supports DHCP for automatic IP address assignment and fixed IP address assignment. 1
The video decoding API/SDK of VON can be provided for the users to integrate the software package with the service system, and set up the practical application systems. VON codec can be freely operated with different surveillance cameras, video matrix, and video multiplex.

Application 1 Typical Link of Encoder Showing as the following figure
Typical Link of Decoder Showing as the following figure
2 Link of Network Server VON can be connected with a video server via Ethernet.
And NMS software is
needed when VON encoder is connected with the video server. Showing as the following figure. 4
3 Directly Link of Encoder and Decoder In some test and demo situation, VON codec can be connected without the IP network or other transmission network. Encoder and decoder can be connected via a twist-pair cable. The figure is showing as follow.

The Introduction of System Software Package The software package of VON system adopts the Client/Server pattern. It includes: NMS Server software----V-Partner™ Terminal Software----V-View™: The software of VON NMS is coded by VC language. It is stable and with the GUI. And it can be operated on OS of Windows98/2000/XP. Require of configuration:OS of Windows98/2000/XP,
PIII CPU or above、
128M RAM or above、16M display RAM or above、40G hard driver or above.

1 NMS (server software) ----V-Partner™:
V-partner is the server software of VON Video Codec. It support DHCP, administrate the configuration of system by changing the IP address and DNS name; join and rejoin the multicast forwarding and multicast group; indicate the bandwidth of network and change the configuration. And it has following functions: 1.
Administration of the encoder; A) IP address assignment B) COM1, COM2 configuration C) Compression standard selection D) Bandwidth selection E) Device log-in and log-out
2.
Administration of the decoder
3.
Administration of camera 7
4.
Administration of the video matrix

2 Client Software-----V-view™:
The Client software is installed on the surveillance terminals. The video signal from Ethernet can be decoded on clients’ computers. And the terminal can operate the cameras on the road field. 1) real-time display: Operation of zoom in, zoom out and adjusting of video image quality Operation of camera, rain brush and temperature adjusting 2) real-time record: Support the basic video recording system Adjustable of recording speed
