Safety Precautions ALWAYS Learn the applications limitations and any specific potential hazards peculiar to it. ALWAYS use a face or dust mask if operation is particularly dusty. ALWAYS wear safety goggles, manufactured to the latest European Safety Standards. Everyday eyeglasses do not have impact resistant lenses, they are not safety glasses. ALWAYS keep work area clean. Cluttered areas and benches invite accidents. ALWAYS ensure that adequate lighting is available. A minimum intensity of 300 lux should be provided. Ensure that lighting is placed so that you will not be working in your own shadow. ALWAYS keep children away. All visitors should be kept a safe distance from the work area, especially whilst operating machinery. ALWAYS maintain machines/tools in top condition. Keep clean for the best and safest performance. Follow any maintenance instructions. ALWAYS handle with extreme care do not carry the tool/machine by its’ electric cable, or yank the cable to disconnect it from the power supply. ALWAYS concentrate on the job in hand, no matter how trivial it may seem. Be aware that accidents are caused by carelessness due to familiarity. Tile Cutter Note; Score whole tile length evenly ONCE ONLY. Place the tile cutter on a firm flat surface, lift the handle as high as possible. Mark pencil line on glazed side of tile to be cut, place tile on cutter base with marked line facing upwards, position the marked line with the cutting wheel, alternatively use the guide rule on the cutter to position tile. Push handle forwards so that the cutting wheel is just over the front edge of the tile, carefully lower the handle, at the same time holding up the snapping block until the wheel comes into contact with the tile. Apply a slight downwards pressure on the handle and firmly pull the carriage towards you scoring a line fully across the tile. Lift handle and move the carriage forwards until the snapping block is over the centre of the tile, lower the handle until the block comes into contact with the tile, then slowly but firmly push down on handle until the tile breaks. Tile Saw Dual purpose, use saw for cutting shapes etc. Tool also incorporates a ¼” tile drill, to use the drill, the saw blade must be removed first, then the drill is used by placing the drill point in position on the tile and using the tool as a brace proceed to drill the hole. Tile Nippers Used to nibble away the waste material in small increments until down to the scoreline. Tile Pliers Use the scoring wheel on the end of the plier when smaller or irregular cuts are required, then use the pliers to snap the tile along the scoreline. It is important that the line is straight, if there are any contours in the scored line, use the tile nippers. Tile Chipping Hammer Use the chipping hammer to remove cracked tile for instance when replacing with new one. Chipping hammer also has tile scriber on end of handle. Grout Rake Can be used with single or double blade, single blade to remove grout when tiles are spaced at 2mm and double blades for spacings 4mm and above. Scraper General purpose 2” scraper. Trowel Use to evenly apply and spread tile adhesive. Sponge Use to clean tiles when grouting.
