Safety • Do not use the device while driving, so as not to impede safe driving regulations. • In health facilities, observe the relevant rules or regulations. Turn off the mobile internet device (MID) in the vicinity of medical devices. • Turn off the MID when boarding an airplane in order to avoid interference with aircraft radio signals. • Stay away from magnetic equipment; MID radiation may erase the information stored on the device.

Getting Started Micro SD Card
Your 10” Dual Core Tablet is compatible with Class 10 micro SD cards, up to 32GB in capacity. • Power off your MID (mobile internet device). • Insert your micro SD card into the micro SD slot on the right side of the MID, making sure the gold contacts are facing the rear of the MID. Gently push it in until you feel a soft click. • To remove the SD card, power off the MID then gently push the SD card until you feel a soft click and the SD card will eject.
Charging the tablet
Before using your 10” Dual Core Tablet for the first time, you need to fully charge the battery. Charging times will vary, depending on the computer. • To charge the device via a computer, plug the USB end of the micro USB cable into a USB port on the computer, and the micro USB end into the micro USB port on the tablet. • Ensure that your computer and the tablet are both turned on.
Charging indications • When the tablet is off, a charging indicator will briefly appear on the screen when the tablet is connected to a charger. • While charging, with the tablet turned on, a charging symbol will appear in the notification bar. • In addition to the charging symbol, a charging LED light will turn on, indicating that your tablet is charging.

Buttons
The two buttons located on the left side of the tablet allow you to turn the tablet ON/OFF and EXIT out of applications. To use a button, gently press it; you will feel a soft click.

Getting Started (Cont.) Switch on/off the device POWER button
• Long press to turn on (3 seconds). • When in power-on state, briefly press to turn the screen on or off, or long press (3 seconds) to display the Power Off menu.
Switch on • While in the power-off state, long press the POWER button (3 seconds) and the device will start up.
Switch off • Long press the POWER button (3 seconds) to display an options list. Choose to switch off the device.
Turn on/off the screen
• After a period of inactivity the screen will automatically turn off to save battery power. This can be set using the “Sleep” setting from the Display menu in the Device Settings menu. • If after a long time in sleep state the screen does not turn on, press and hold the POWER button for 10 seconds to reset the power.
Turn on the screen • If the screen is off, press the POWER button to turn it back on.
MID screen operation Click / Short Press
When using the on-screen keyboard, opening an application or selecting items.
Long Press
Press and hold for several seconds on an item (such as a text box or web page link) to display the action or submenu for an item, if available.
Slide or Rapid Slide
Sliding or fast sliding means vertical or horizontal drag action.
Drag
When dragging, you must hold the icon with your finger and keep pressure until it reaches destination.
Display Rotation
For most of the screens, the content will change between landscape and portrait mode, according to the device orientation.

Unlock the screen
• Drag the Lock icon to the left side to unlock the screen. • After unlocking the screen, you will see the last item you had open or the main screen. You can view the pages by swiping left and right across the screen. • To return quickly to the main screen, press the House icon in the lower middle or home button at the left side of your tablet.

Operation (Cont.) Screen buttons There are some buttons that will always be on the screen. No matter what functions you are using, you can return to the last page or main screen by using these buttons. Button

Operation (Cont.) Notifications The top right corner where the time is shown is called Notification Column. After sliding it down, the below menu will pop up.
• Click to go to settings menu. Some menu items will allow you to change settings or status by clicking on them, others will open a new window to display all options for that setting.

Operation (Cont.) Enter widgets • Click to enter the list of all applications and widgets. • Tap on the Widget tab to enter widget mode.

Operation (Cont.) Add and manage home screen icons Add home screen icons • At the application list or widget list, long press any application or widget and the device will shift into home screen, then drag them to any place on the home screen.
Home screen shortcuts management • To create a folder on the main screens, just drag and overlay any icon onto another icon, then release. A new folder will be created containing the two applications. It will appear as a black circle with small icons of your apps on top.

Operation (Cont.) • To view the folder contents, click on the folder icon and it will display as pictured below.
• To change an icon’s position inside the folder, long press the icon, then drag it to the new position. • To remove an icon from the folder, long press the icon and drag it to outside the folder.
• To change the folder name, click on the folder, then click on “Unnamed Folder”. A keyboard will appear. Type the new name, then press Done to apply it. www.tempo.org AUS

• To delete the icon, drag the icon onto the top of and let go when it is a red colour. This also works for deleting folders and widgets.

Operation (Cont.) Connect with computer
• Connect the device to a computer with a USB cable. When connected with a computer, a message will appear in the notification bar which will describe which USB mode the MID is in.
There are 2 options available to choose from: Media Device (MTP) and Camera (PTP). • Your device is on Media Device (MTP) mode by default. Windows 7 (or higher) operating system will automatically discover the device. • To use your Tablet as a camera, choose Camera (PTP) mode. NOTE: If the message does not appear when you connect the tablet to your computer with a USB cable, or if the device does not appear on your computer, try the following: • Check and ensure that you have turned the tablet on. Check and ensure that your computer is turned on. • Unplug the USB cable, then reconnect it to the same USB port. • If your computer has USB ports on the rear, try connecting to one. • Try a different USB cable.

• When the device is installed with programs designed for smaller screens and cannot show in full screen, a screen zoom menu may pop up. You must confirm it to open those programs.
Background applications
• Click the “background applications” (recent applications) on-screen button to show all programs running in the background. • Click an item to re-open it.
• Drag the items to the top or bottom to close and remove the application from the list.

Applications (Cont.) Gmail You can use the device to access your emails stored in your Gmail account. • Click to start the Gmail application. You will be asked to login with your Gmail account details or create a Gmail account if you do not have one.
Read mail Touch any mail to read it; unread mails are shown in bold. When viewing an email, there are a few options available: • File, delete, make remarks and so on. • Slide left or right to view the next or previous email.
Manage mails • Choose the check box beside the emails you want, then click menu to choose any operation. Touch menu “ ” to make settings or add accounts. No matter what functions you are using, you can return to the in-box at any time by clicking .
Calendar You can change the calendar to display in Day, Week or Month view. At Day or Week view, you can use two fingers to zoom in or zoom out. At any pages, you can make the below operations: • Read or delete calendars. • Manage events and calendars.

Applications (Cont.) Get and install applications There are two ways to get applications: download from an app market or copy from a computer.
Option 1: Download using a “Play Store” application • Download applications using applications such as Google’s “Play Store”. Below are photos showing the process of downloading “Angry Birds” from “Play Store”.
After downloading, the application will automatically install the software. NOTE: Some applications may not be compatible due to hardware requirements or geographic location limitations of the application.
Option 2: Copy installation file from computer • Copy an application install file (APK) from a computer to the storage of the MID, then find and install them using any file manager app. • Click on the file to install it.
Uninstall applications • Open the applications window and click , then click on “Apps” from the menu on the left. • In the window on the right-hand side, use the tabs at the top and scroll up and down through the list of applications until you find the application you wish to uninstall. • Click on the application, then an App info page will appear. • Click on the Uninstall button and the application will be removed.

Settings The setting function on the MID is like that on a mobile phone or computer control panel. You can access the settings page by clicking the notification bar or “setting” icon in the applications list.
Wireless & Networks
The ‘Mobile Networks’ section is located under the ‘More’ option. To set your Tablet in Airplane mode, set up tethering or connect to a VPN, proceed as follows:

Click “Wi-Fi” to open the Wi-Fi function. To the right of the “Wi-Fi” label is the button to enable and disable Wi-Fi. Press the ON/OFF button to turn the Wi-Fi function on or off. Click on the network you wish to connect to.

Settings (Cont.) Connecting Wi-Fi When the Wi-Fi network is not secured, it will connect with the device automatically. For security reasons, be careful using unsecured Wi-Fi sources. When you click on a secured Wi-Fi, a window will pop up to input a password.
There are more useful advanced Wi-Fi settings when you choose to “show advanced options”, but ensure the tablet is upright in portrait stance for “Show advanced options” to be displayed.
If you experience problems connecting to a Wi-Fi network, try the following: • When entering your password, tick the box “show password” to confirm. • Try restarting your Wi-Fi Access Point device, then try connecting again. • Ensure your Wi-Fi Access Point device does not have MAC Address or other restrictions enabled. • Try updating the Firmware on your Wi-Fi Access Point device to the latest available version. • Try updating your Wi-Fi Access Point device’s security settings to use WPA2 mode.

Settings (Cont.) Bluetooth® Wireless Technology Enable or disable Bluetooth® Wireless Technology • Click “Settings” at the main menu or applications list. • In the “Wireless & networks” menu, click “Bluetooth”. • Click the On/Off button in the menu to turn Bluetooth technology on or off.
Change Bluetooth enabled device name
By default, the Bluetooth enabled device will have a name. To make your devices more easily identifiable, you can rename it as follows. • Go to “Settings” > “Wireless & networks” and make sure Bluetooth technology is on. • Choose “Bluetooth”. • Click the menu and choose to “Rename tablet”. • Input the new name.
Pair with other Bluetooth enabled device
• Click “Search For Devices”, the device will scan for all available Bluetooth enabled devices. If it cannot find the one you want, check if the other Bluetooth enabled device has the wireless technology switched on. • Click a Bluetooth enabled device ID to pair. If it is password protected, input the password at both devices.
Connect with keyboard, mouse or other devices You can connect the device with a keyboard, mouse or other parts through USB cable or Bluetooth wireless technology, then use them like a traditional computer. If you want to use more than one USB device, you will need to use a powered USB hub to provide power to the devices.

Use this menu to enable or disable Location options.
Security
The security menu contains useful options for securing your tablet and data. Screen lock: Change or set a protection method for locking the screen. Owner info: Enter text that will be displayed on the lock screen. This is text others can see without having to unlock the tablet. Unknown Enable this if you wish to install applications (APK files) that sources: are not from the “Play Store”. NOTE: If you forget the screen lock password, PIN or pattern, you must perform a firmware reset on the device. Passwords cannot be recovered.

Settings (Cont.) Language and input In this area you can change the system language and change settings for the keyboard.
Keyboard Some applications can open the keyboard automatically; others require you to click in an input field/area first. You can hide the keyboard by pressing the down arrow that appears where normally the on-screen back button would be.

Settings (Cont.) Text selection - Copy, Share, Find • Press and hold on one of the words you wish to select. The word will highlight in blue and a blue tab will appear at both ends. • Press and drag the blue tabs to highlight the text you wish to select. • Choose the task you wish to perform from the menu that appears at the top of the screen. Text selection - Paste • Once you have used the above method to copy text to the clipboard, press and hold on a field in an application or area of a document where you wish to input the copied text. • A blue tab will appear, drag it to the position you want the text inserted, then click “Paste”. Other operations To input capital letters: • Press the Shift button or keep pressing on Shift letters. To switch to capital letters:

• Press and hold the shift button while in lower case mode, the icon will change into . Press again to switch back to lower case mode. Figures and numbers: • Press the “?123” button. You can then press the “~\{” button for more choices. Frequently used symbols: • Press and hold a symbol button to enter the alternate symbol displayed in grey above it. Mouse/trackpad Allows you to adjust the pointer speed of any attached mouse or trackpad device, such as a USB or Bluetooth enabled mouse.

Backup and reset Reset to factory settings: When some applications or the device itself cannot work properly, you can use this function to return the tablet to factory default settings. But you will lose all user installed applications and data. It is therefore important that you back up important data first.
Accounts
This menu allows you to add an account to the tablet and enable or disable the synchronisation settings for each, such as mail service. You can also remove accounts by clicking on them, then click on the menu button in the top right and select “Remove account”.
System
Date & time Contains options for setting the Time Zone, Date and Time.
Accessibility Contains settings for easy use of applications and services (if installed).

The camera has photo-taking and video-recording functions. There are two cameras on the device. You can find your camera photos and video at > Applications > Gallery, or see camera videos and all other video files at > Applications. Click to take photos. • To take a photo: click the blue circle. • To view captured photos: click on the small photo preview icon. • To exit: press the Main Screen button. Icon
