Assembly 1. Park the tractor on a solid, level surface, set park brakes, shut-off engine and remove ignition key. Disconnect negative battery cable. 2. Raise the front of the tractor and deck up until the mulch kit can be installed. Place the tractor securely on the jack stands and do not allow the tractor to move. Chock the rear wheels. WARNING: Use only appropriate vehicle stands, with a minimum weight rating of 2000 pounds to block the unit up. Use in pairs only. Follow the instructions supplied with the vehicle stands.

Remove the side deflector and mounting plate. Do not discard as these will be needed when not operating in the mulch mode. Fig. 1

Fig. 1 WARNING: Never operate the mower deck with side deflector damaged, altered, removed or in raised position, except when the entire grass catcher attachment or mulching system is being used. WARNING: Exercise caution when working under the deck as the mower blades are extremely sharp. Wrap the blade(s) or wear gloves and use extra caution when servicing them. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9.
Remove the existing blades. Locate the pilot holes that are drilled in the deck per Fig. 2. Drill these holes out to 13/32" diameter. Attach the mulch kit to the deck as shown in Fig. 3 Attach the mulching blades, furnished with this kit, to the blade spindles using the existing hardware. Torque bolts to 118 ft.-lbs. (160.01 Nm). Fig. 3 Rotate the blades, by hand, to make sure they are not making contact with the mulch plates. Remove the blocks and lower the deck. Re-connect the negative battery cable. Make sure the seat platform is securely fastened before operating.
