SECTION 115213 PROJECTION SCREENS PART 1 - GENERAL 1.1 RELATED DOCUMENTS Drawings and General Provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementary Conditions and Division 01 Specification Sections, apply to this Section. 1.2 DESCRIPTION OF WORK A. 1.3 Manual Screens: 1. Screens are to be purchased and installed as specified. 2. Coordinate with Architect to ensure blocking/structural support as required for secured mounting. DEFINITIONS A. Gain: Ratio of light reflected from screen material to that reflected perpendicularly from a magnesium carbonate surface as determined per FS GG-S-00172D(1). B. Division 26 Section “Electrical” for electrical work including all power and grounding systems; conduit, raceway and cable tray systems. 1.4 RELATED SECTIONS: A. Division 5 “Metals.” B. Miscellaneous Rough Carpentry (061053). C. Wood Trim (064600). D. Caulking and Sealing (Joint Sealants) (079200). E. Glazing (088000). F. Gypsum Board (092900). 1.5 SUBMITTALS: A. Product Data: For each type of screen specified. B. Shop Drawings: Show layout and types of projection screens. Include the following: 1. Verify any above ceiling conflicts. 2. C. 1.6 Location of seams in viewing surfaces. Connections to suspension systems for pendant- and recess-mounted screens. Anchorage details. Submit invoices or delivery slips to show model numbers, serial numbers and actual quantities of materials delivered to the site for use in fulfillment of each product. QUALITY ASSURANCE A. Source Limitations: Obtain projection screens through one source from a single manufacturer, except when specified screens are not available from a single manufacturer. Obtain each screen as a complete unit, including necessary mounting hardware and accessories. B. Coordination of Work: Coordinate layout and installation of projection screens with other construction supported by, or penetrating through, ceilings, including light fixtures, HVAC equipment, fire-suppression system and partitions. 1.7 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING A. 1.8 Do not deliver motorized projection screens until building in enclosed, other construction within spaces where screens will be installed is substantially complete, and installation of screens is ready to begin. GENERAL A. 120V, 60 Hz, quick-reversing motor with thermal overload cutout, and permanently lubricated bearings. B. All motorized screens with manufacturer-supplied low voltage control (LVC) option with 3-button (up/stop/down) switch and cover plate in standard 1-gang flush-mount wall box. C. Motorized Screen Material: Flame retardant and mildew resistant. D. Motorized Screen to have tab-tensioning to prevent edge curl and wrinkles. E. Motorized Screen Image Surface: As specified below. F. Motorized Screen Extra Fabric Drop: As indicated. G. Image Size: As indicated. H. Labs: T04 Animation Lab, T08 Audio Lab, T33 Video Lab 1. Aspect ratio: 16:10. 2. Aluminum projection screen enclosure mounts above ceiling with screen return control. 3. 6’ screen pull cord. 4. Image Size 65” high x 104” wide. 5. Matte White screen material. 6. Acceptable Products. a. Da-Lite Advantage manual With CSR. 1) Quantity: Three (3) complete units. b. Approved equal. PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.1 PROJECTION SCREEN INSTALLATION A. General: 1. Install projection screens at locations indicated to comply with manufacturer’s written instructions. B. Install front-projection screens with screen cases in position and relationship to adjoining construction indicated. Securely anchor to supporting substrate using Unistrut® or other approved non-combustible hardware in a manner that produces a smoothly operating screen with vertical edges plumb and viewing surface flat when screen is lowered. 3.2 PROTECTION A. Protect projections screens after installation from damage during construction. If damage occurs despite such protection, remove and replace damaged components or entire unit as required to provide units in their original, undamaged condition.
