115V ECM MOTOR RETROFIT KIT FOR “ALL-TEMP” UNIT COOLERS (KIT PN 08523048) Included Hardware (Per Motor): 1 Fan (08221175) 1 Motor (08216124) 3 Legs (08522938) 3 Pointed Screws, #10 x 3/4 (102150012) 3 Blunt Screws, #8-36 x 7/16 (08216124 Hardware) 1 Rubber Fan Silencer (08216124 Hardware) 1 Nut, 1/4-20 (08216124 Hardware) 2 Cable Ties, Not Shown (08218422) CAUTION: FOLLOW SAFE WORK PRACTICES. DISCONNECT POWER BEFORE SERVICING. USE LOCKOUT TAGOUT PROCEDURES TO PREVENT OTHERS FROM ENERGIZING THE CIRCUIT WHILE YOU ARE WORKING. Tools Needed: 1/4 Inch Nut Driver or Socket 7/16 Inch Nut Driver or Socket Electric Drill with 3/16 Inch Bit 1/8 Inch Allen Driver Sharp Permanent Marker Wire Cutter/Crimper Gloves and Eye Protection REMOVING THE OLD FAN MOTOR ASSEMBLY 1 Remove screws and fan grill. Keep screws. 4 Remove motor mount screws while supporting the motor. INSTRUCTIONS – 08523050 REV 12/12/07 2 Loosen set screw and remove/discard old fan. 5 3 Disconnect motor wire quick connects. Carefully tilt and remove the assembly. Discard old motor, mount, and capacitor (if present). 1 PREPARING THE MOUNTING HOLES 6 Install legs onto motor with blunt screws. Legs should curve toward shaft end. Center the assembly over the venturi. The motor wire bushing should face upward. The fan must be centered and turn freely. Mark the small leg holes onto the venturi with a permanent marker. 7 Temporarily install the fan and hand tighten the nut. 8 9 Drill out the three marked hole locations with a 3/16 inch drill bit. TIP: When retrofitting multiple fan units, use one fan assembly to mark the hole positions for all venturi openings. INSTRUCTIONS – 08523050 REV 12/12/07 2 INSTALLING THE NEW FAN MOTOR ASSEMBLY 11 10 12 14 Remove fan. Angle motor and legs to insert assembly behind the venturi. Secure legs to venturi with pointed screws. The motor wire bushing should face upward. Connect quick connect motor wires to wire harness in unit. Secure wires with cable ties. 13 Install rubber fan silencer. Install nut and tighten with a wrench or a nut driver. The fan must turn without any rubbing. INSTRUCTIONS – 08523050 REV 12/12/07 15 Place fan on motor shaft. The above curve shows the proper orientation of the fan curvature. Reinstall fan guard using original screws. 3
