SB-N-ALT/10W3v3 INSTR SKU# 011287 I N S TA L L AT I O N G U I D E for the SB-N-ALT/10W3v3 SKU# 94447 2007+ If you choose to perform the installation yourself, it is absolutely vital that the Stealthbox® be properly mounted to the vehicle according to these instructions. Failure to mount the enclosure properly presents two problems: 1) The sub-bass performance will suffer due to the movement of the enclosure caused by the force exerted by the woofer(s). 2) A loose enclosure presents a serious safety hazard in the event of a collision or sudden deceleration. INSTALLATION D I F F I C U LT Y: 2 OUT OF 5 ESTIMATED TIME: 2-3 HOURS STEP 1 Clean out the trunk so that you have a comfortable area to work in. Thank you for choosing a JL Audio Stealthbox® for your automotive sound system. With proper installation, your new vehicle-specific enclosed subwoofer system will deliver years of listening pleasure. STEP 2 Position the 3” x 3” Wax Square as shown We strongly recommend that you have your new Stealthbox® installed by your authorized JL Audio dealer. The installation professionals employed by your dealer have the necessary tools and experience to disassemble and reassemble your vehicle properly. Also, keep in mind that your warranty coverage extends to 2 years if your system is installed or approved by your authorized JL Audio dealer. If you prefer to perform your own installation, please read this installation guide completely before beginning the process. STEP 3 With the Stealthbox® laying on it’s back, position and attach the rear mounting bracket as shown with the foot roughly parallel to the bottom of the enclosure. (see DETAIL of hardware arrangement below) Continued on Next Page SB-N-ALT/10W3v3 INSTR SKU# 011287 DE TAIL STEP 7 Using a 1/2” drill bit, drill through the inner fender where the Wax Square was marked. *CAUTION* Before drilling, always make sure that you are not going to be drilling into any gas lines, brake lines, transmission lines, electrical wiring, exhaust systems or anything else that might cause a reduction in your weekly pay. Always wear eye protection when drilling. STEP 4 At the front of the enclosure thread the 3/8-16 x 1-1/4” Hex Head Bolt all the way into the enclosure so that only the head of the bolt is exposed. STEP 8 Looking from the fender well, this is approximately where the hole should come through the inner fender. STEP 5 Place the Stealthbox® in location, keeping the bottom of the Stealthbox® parallel with the floor of the trunk. Press the head of the bolt installed in STEP 4 into the 3” x 3” Wax Square that was installed in STEP 2. The head of the bolt should make a depression in the Wax Square, if it does not, back out the bolt and repeat until it does. After the 3” x 3” Wax Square has been marked, remove the bolt from the enclosure. STEP 9 Remove the OEM tape covering the square hole at the rear of the trunk opening that goes down through the floor as indicated by the arrow. Now is an excellent time to test the Stealthbox® and the amplifier to ensure that everything is working as it should. STEP 6 Remove the indicated screw so that the inner fender liner can be pulled down. Make sure that there is clearance where you will be drilling through the inner fender to mount the Stealthbox® Page 2 • JL Audio, Inc 2009 STEP 10 Start the included hardware into the Stealthbox® from inside the wheel-well opening as shown at left.
