If you connect a device to the SCART 2 on your TV, most TVs will automatically send the audio to the DMR 70. If a Satellite receiver, set top box, VCR, PC, Games console or MP3 player has digital or analogue audio output, you can connect it directly to the DMR 70. PC Games console MP3 Player ? VCR Satellite/STB S-Video configuration Video is connected through the S-Video cable to the flatscreen TV. Audio is connected from the TV to the DMR 70. If a Satellite receiver, set top box, VCR, PC, Games console or MP3 player has digital or analogue audio output, you can connect it directly to the DMR 70. PC Games console MP3 Player Satellite/STB VCR Component and HDMI configuration The Component video output can be connected to plasma and LCD displays (component cables are not included). HDMI output can be connected to a TV with HDMI input. (Make sure the TV is HDCP compliant otherwise it will not work) (HDMI cable not included). Audio from the HD video source is connected directly to the DMR 70 If a PC, Games console or MP3 player has digital or analogue audio output, you can connect it directly. Numerical keys Allows you to enter the track/title number of a disc or a radio station preset. 10. Info You can check information about the media you are watching, such as the total number of the titles or chapters or 8 tracks or time, using the Info function. The information will appear on the TV screen. Radio mode: Manually stores a radio station. 11. Surround Press this button to toggle between stereo and different surround sound modes. 12. Setup Enters the DMR 70 setup menu, press again to exit. 13. Sound Press to select individual volume levels for Front Left, Front Right, Surround Left, Surround Right, Center, Subwoofer, Treble and Volume. To adjust the level, press - or +. 14. Menu Press to enter the DVD menu. 15-19. Navigation buttons In Setup mode: Selects movement direction in the Setup menu. DVD mode: Selects movement direction in the disc menu. Radio mode: Press up or down to tune the radio frequency. Pictures: Press left or right to turn the picture 90 degrees Pictures: Press up or down to flip the picture horizontally or vertically. 20-22. Amplifier Buttons Press mute if instant silence is needed. Change the volume level by pressing the volume -/+. 23. Back Selects previous Track/Chapter/Program 24. Stop Disc mode: Stops playback Radio mode: Press and hold this button to start automatic search and storage of radio stations. Exits an operation 25. Forward Selects next Track/Chapter/Program 26. Rewind Disc and MP3 toggles between x2, x4, x8, x16, x32 rewind. Radio mode: Press and hold down, - the previous radio station detected will play. 27. Play/Pause Press to play or pause playback 28. Fast Forward Disc and MP3 toggles between x2, x4, x8, x16, x32 fast-forward. Radio mode: Press and hold down, - the next radio station detected will play. 29. Shuffle Press repeatedly to toggle between shuffle and repeat play modes. 30. Subtitles Use this function to choose from the subtitles available on the DVD. 31. Language Use this function to choose between the available audio tracks on the film. 9 System Setup To access the DMR 70 setup menu, press “SETUP”. Use / / / to browse through the menus, and press “OK” to select an item. To exit System Setup, press “SETUP”. General Setup Some changes can only be managed in General and Language setup if the DVD/CD disc is stopped, by pressing “STOP” twice, or if the disc tray is open. 10 DISC LOCK You can prevent play of specific discs with the disc lock function. Up to 40 discs can be locked. • Lock – To block the playback of the current disc. Subsequent access to a locked disc requires a six-digit password. The default password is ‘000000’ • Unlock – All discs can be played. DISPLAY DIM Select the brightness of this unit’s display panel. • 100% – Full brightness. • 70% – Medium brightness. • 40% – Dimmest display. DIVX (R) VOD CODE The display will show the unique code which you need to register your player. Once that’s done you can rent and purchase DivX Video On Demand files. PBC Play Back Control feature is applicable for VCD/SVCD only. It allows you to play Video CDs (2.0) interactively, following the menu on the display. • On – The index menu (if available) appears on the TV when you load a VCD/SVCD. • Off – The VCD/SVCD skips the index menu and plays back directly from the beginning. LAST MEMORY Turns On and Off the memory of the memorised point at which the played DEFAULT If you select this function, all of the functions will be restored to their defaults. Language Setup Some changes can only be managed in General and Language setup if the DVD/CD disc is stopped, by pressing “STOP” twice, or if the disc tray is open. OSD LANGUAGE This sets the OnScreen Display language for the DMR 70. Default setting is: ENGLISH. DivX SUB If available on the DivX clip, this function allows you to select the preferred Subtitle language. AUDIO If available on the DVD, this function allows you to select the preferred audio language. Default setting is: ENGLISH. SUBTITLE If available on the DVD, this function allows you to select the preferred Subtitle language. Default setting is: OFF. DISC MENU If available on the DVD, this function allows you to select the desired Menu language. Default setting is: ENGLISH. 11 Audio Setup SPEAKER SIZE Selects your speaker size for: • Front • Centre • Surround Select SMALL if using Jamo speakers: A 102, A 402. Select MEDIUM if using Jamo speakers: A 405, A 407. For subwoofer setting refer to owners manual for subwoofer. SPEAKER DELAY Selects the delay time for surround sound audio for: • Centre • Rear Left • Rear Right 1ms is equivalent to 30 cm / 1 ft change in distance. If your front speakers are placed 3 metres / 9.8 ft from the listening position and the surround speakers 2 metres / 6.6 ft from the listening position the delay for the surround speakers should be 3ms. DIGITAL AND HDMI AUDIO OUT Turns the HDMI Audio output to TV on or off, - defalut setting is off. If HDMI Audio output is wanted, select PCM. If an external AV Receiver with DD and DTS decoder is connected through a digital output socket, select RAW. If an external AV Receiver without DD and DTS decoder is connected through a digital output socket, select PCM. Default: RAW Note: If PCM is chosen then HDMI Audio Output will be “On” if connected with HDMI cable to TV. SPEAKER TEST 12 Press this to test that all your speakers are connected correctly. Video Setup TV TYPE Select the colour system that matches your TV. This also allows playback of a disc that uses a different video standard (PAL or NTSC). • PAL - For PAL-system TV. • NTSC – For NTSC-system TV. • Multi – For TVs that are compatible with both PAL and NTSC. If TV Type should be changed, HDMI setting has to be “off”. HDMI is “on” by default. TV DISPLAY Allows you to select the aspect ratio that is appropriate for your TV display. • 4:3 Pan Scan If you have a conventional TV set and would like to see the DVD picture fill your TV screen then use this setting. A wide picture is displayed on the whole TV screen with a portion automatically out off. • 4:3 Letter Box If you have a conventional ‘square’ set and would like to see the DVD picture in its full format, use this setting. Wide bands will be displayed on the upper and lower portions of the TV screen. • 16:9 Wide Screen If you have a widescreen TV set, use this setting (you must also set your widescreen TV to its 16:9 mode.). PROGRESSIVE Progressive Scan displays twice the number of frames per second than interlaced scanning (ordinary normal TV system). With nearly double the number of lines, progressive scan offers higher picture resolution and quality. Progressive is “off” by default. Component setting has to be set to “YPbPr” if Progressive should be set to “on” Warning: Ensure that you have connected this unit to a progressive scan TV using the YPbPr connection. HDMI SETUP In HDMI setup you can turn the HDMI out On and Off and it is possible to set-up the resolution. For PAL-System TV one of following settings is available: 576p (720), 720p (50 Hz), 1080i (50 Hz) For NTSC-System TV one of following settings is available: 480p (720), 720p (60 Hz), 1080i (60 Hz) For the best picture quality the settings should be the highest possible of your TV. Warning: If a higher resolution chosen than the TV can handle, - then the screen will be “blue”. Connect your video cable and restore settings. COMPONENT Select the component output colour system that matches your TV: YPbPr, RGB. Default setting: EUR = RGB – Other = YPbPr If component should be changed, HDMI setting has to be ”off”. HDMI is “on” by default. 13 Radio This is an overview of the buttons used when finding and storing FM and AM radio stations. Make sure the ‘RADIO’ button is pressed. Find a radio station Press and hold the Rewind or Fast Forward on the remote until the frequency indicator starts to change, then release. The system automatically tunes to the next strong radio station. If fine-tuning is necessary, press the Up and Down navigation buttons on the remote. Selecting preset programs To select preset programs, press the Back or Forward button on the remote. Store a radio station To store a radio station, do the following. After finding a station: 1. Press INFO 2. Enter number between 01-40 3. Press INFO to store station. Automatically find and store radio stations Press and hold STOP key for more than 4 seconds, all radio stations with a strong signal strength will be stored automatically. RDS station service RDS (Radio Data System) is an additional information system provided by most FM stations. If a RDS station is being received, you can see programme information on the display by pressing LANG on the remote. 14 Troubleshooting If the DMR 70 appears to be faulty, first consult this troubleshooting guide before calling for service. Refer also to the corresponding instructions in this manual. WARNING Under no circumstances should you attempt to repair the system yourself. Symptom Possible cause Correction No picture. • The TV is switched OFF. • The TV is not connected correctly. • • Turn ON the TV. Connect the TV correctly. Disc can’t be played. • The disc is placed upside down. • The disc is empty or the format is not supported by DMR 70. • The disc is dirty or defective. • The disc is not placed within the disc tray guide. • • • • Ensure the disc label is facing up. Remove the disc and try another. Clean the disc or dispose of it. Place the disk within the proper guide on the disc tray. No sound. • The VOLUME is set to 0. • Speaker cables are not connected correctly. • • Turn up the VOLUME. Connect them correctly. The DMR 70 unit does not respond to commands from the remote control. • No batteries are inserted in the remote control. • The batteries are worn out. • The remote controller is not pointed at the remote sensor of the DMR 70. • The remote controller is too far from the DMR 70. • • • Insert new batteries. Replace with new batteries. Point the remote controller at the remote sensor of the DMR 70. Operate the remote controller within 5 m. Power is not supplied even though the power cable is connected. • The power plug is not securely connected. • The wall plug is not turned ON. • • Connect the power plug securely. Turn ON the wall plug. The DMR 70 does not respond to some operating commands during playback • Operations may not be permitted by the disc. • Read the instructions on the disc. • 15 Service and Warranty Service. In case of warranty enquiries, please contact your dealer/installer. In case of request for service under warranty, please enclose your original receipt and make sure that the serial number on the product is readable. Important: Never send the product to be repaired without the prior agreement of your dealer. The product must always be packed properly. If the product is NOT UNDER WARRANTY, all costs (including unlimited costs of repair and freight) must be paid for by the customer. Warranty certificate. Jamo provides a eightyfour (84) month warranty from the date of purchase against material and manufacturing defects on passive speakers and a twenty-four (24) month warranty on electronics; in the US only, Jamo provides a limited lifetime warranty on in-wall and in-ceiling speakers (each, a warranty period). For defects covered by the warranty, the product must be returned to the dealer/installer that sold the product. Terms of Warranty 1. Nothing in this warranty shall limit your statutory rights. 2. The warranty is only valid on presentation of the original sales receipt or other valid proof of purchase, and provided that the serial number on the product is fully legible. 3. Warranty repairs must be carried out by an authorised Jamo dealer, or an authorised service centre. No payment will be made for repairs performed by unauthorised persons. This warranty does not extend to products which have been repaired or otherwise altered by unauthorised persons, and any damage to the product caused by work by unauthorised persons is not covered by this warranty. 4. This product will not be considered defective, either in materials or in manufacture, to the extent that faults are caused by adaptation to national, local, technical or safety related requirements in countries other than the specific country where the product was purchased. 5. Jamo shall at its option during the relevant warranty period either repair or replace defective components. If the component repair or replacement cannot be performed, the product will be replaced. 6. In no circumstances shall Jamo be liable in contract, tort (including negligence) or breach of statutory duty or otherwise for loss of profits, loss of revenue, loss of data, loss of business or loss of anticipated savings or for any consequential loss whatever. 7. The warranty does not cover the following: a) Periodic inspection, maintenance and repair or replacement of parts resulting from normal wear and tear. b) Costs connected to delivery to the dealer, disassembly or re-installation of the product. c) Misuse, including use for purposes other than was intended, or faulty installation. d) Damage caused by lightning, water, fire, natural catastrophes, war, insurrection, incorrect line voltage, insufficient ventilation, transport or other causes outside of the control of Jamo. 8. This warranty applies to every legal owner of the product during the warranty period. 16
