These procedures should not be attempted by “do-it-yourselfers.” Phillips screwdriver Flat-tip screwdriver Ratchet 10 mm Socket NOTE: Scissors Diagonal cutters 10 mm Wrench Shop towel • Before removing any parts from the vehicle, note their location and how they are installed so they can be reinstalled in the original positions. 1. Make sure you have the anti-theft code for the audio unit and the navigation system (if equipped), then write down the radio station presets. 2. Open the tailgate. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery. Removing the Vehicle Parts 3. 5. Pull up the weatherstrip as shown. Remove the front cargo floorboard. 4 RETAINING TABS REAR PANEL LINING 4 CLIPS y FRONT WEATHERSTRIP Pull up. FRONT CARGO FLOORBOARD 941701AG Remove the left and right rear tie-down hooks (open the lid and loosen one screw each). RIGHT REAR TIE-DOWN HOOK 6. Open the rear cargo floorboard. 7. Remove the rear panel lining (four retaining tabs and four clips). 8. Close the rear cargo floorboard. 9. Remove the right front tie-down hook (open the lid and loosen one screw). NUT VIEWED FROM TOP 13. Remove the right rear seat side cover (one bolt and one clip). REAR SEAT CUSHION FRAME RIGHT REAR SEAT SIDE COVER SEAT FLAP Open. Remove the rear seat cushion (two rear seat cushion frames and unplug the vehicle connectors). Remove the right rear side lining (six retaining tabs and five clips). Pr el 19. Open the rear cargo floorboard. BII 42772 (0912) 5 of 12 Installing the Trailer Hitch Routing the Socket Harness 20. Install the trailer hitch to the vehicle frame with two spacers, six spring washers, six plain washers, and six 10 x 40 mm hex bolts. Torque the hex bolts to 46 N·m (34 lbf·ft). 21. Using isopropyl alcohol on a shop towel, thoroughly clean the area where the EPT sealer will attach. VEHICLE PANEL TAILGATE OPENING FRONT EPT SEALER 2 6 PLAIN WASHERS y VEHICLE PANEL 6 SPRING WASHERS 6 HEX BOLTS, TRAILER 10 x 40 mm HITCH Torque to 46 N·m (4.7 kgf·m, 34 lbf·ft) VIEWED FROM BOTTOM EPT SEALER Cut in half. EPT SEALER 950915AE 22. Cut one EPT sealer in half. Attach one cut piece of EPT sealer to the vehicle panel as shown. im in FRONT ar FRONT 23. Remove the vehicle grommet from the vehicle panel. SOCKET HARNESS 27. Remove the vehicle ground bolt. Secure the vehicle ground terminal and socket harness ground terminal to the vehicle with the ground bolt. Route the socket harness, and secure it to the vehicle panel with the two clips. REAR OUTSIDE GROMMET GROMMET VEHICLE GROMMET VEHICLE GROUND 940322BE BOLT TAILGATE OPENING 940302CE FRONT 25. Route the socket harness through the holes and secure the grommet on the socket harness to the vehicle panel as shown. el 26. Secure the socket harness to the trailer hitch with one wire tie. Continue routing the socket harness, and secure it to the vehicle panel with the two clips. TAILGATE OPENING Routing the Unit Harness 32. Insert the unit bracket into the trailer unit. Secure the trailer unit to the vehicle panel with one self-tapping screw. TAILGATE OPENING 36. Route the unit harness and secure it to the vehicle harness with four wire ties. Route the unit harness, and plug the unit harness 12-pin connector into the trailer unit. ar y 4 WIRE TIES UNIT HARNESS FRONT EPT SEALER Cut in step 22. VEHICLE PANEL EPT SEALER 940604BE 37. Using isopropyl alcohol on a shop towel, thoroughly clean the area where the EPT sealer will attach. Pr el 38. Secure the unit harness to the vehicle panel with the remaining piece of EPT sealer cut in step 22. Remove the tape and dummy connector from the vehicle 8-pin connector. Installing the Fuses 42. Open the hood. Remove the cover from the fuse box (four retaining tabs). 8-PIN CONNECTORS TAILGATE OPENING UNIT HARNESS WIRE TIE FRONT COVER 4 RETAINING TABS FRONT VEHICLE 8-PIN CONNECTOR DUMMY CONNECTOR Remove. UNIT HARNESS 8-PIN CONNECTOR FUSE BOX 940605BE 40. Plug the unit harness 8-pin connector to the vehicle 8-pin connector and secure the 8-pin connectors to the vehicle harness with one wire tie. 940606AE 43. Install 7.5A fuses into the #9 and #11 slots in the fuse box. im in TAPE Remove. ar y VEHICLE 8-PIN CONNECTOR el 41. If another accessory harness is already plugged into the vehicle 8-pin connector, unplug the other accessory harness 8-pin connector and plug it into the unit harness 8-pin connector. Plug the unit harness 8-pin connector into the vehicle 8-pin connector. Installing the Ballmount 44. Slide the ballmount into the trailer hitch and secure it with one hitch pin and one hitch pin clip. Reinstall all removed parts. 47. Reconnect the negative cable to the battery. el 48. Enter the anti-theft code for the audio and navigation system (if equipped), and reset the radio station presets. BII 42772 (0912) 11 of 12 Please Put a Copy of this Page in the Glove Box for Your Customer Installing the receiver cover FRONT RECEIVER COVER im in TRAILER HITCH ar y Whenever you remove the hitch pin clip, hitch pin and ballmount, securely store them in the cargo area. Then install the receiver cover into the opening at the end of the trailer hitch. When you reinstall the ballmount, store the receiver cover in the cargo area.
