Teryx 750 FI 4x4
The Boss’s ATV Kawasaki continues to stake its claim in the realm of recreation utility vehicles with the tough Teryx RUV model. Designed to offer the most advanced technology and the highest performance in the RUV world, the 2011 Teryx 750 FI 4x4 mates a powerful fuel-injected V-Twin engine with a stable wide-body chassis and top-shelf suspension, then backs it all with Kawasaki’s legendary durability and reliability. The result is a line of tough, full-size machines with uncompromising high performance. To achieve this, development prioritised sport riding performance, controllability and rider confidence. Superb acceleration comes care of the large-bore fuel-injected V-Twin engine. The smooth power and quick response of the category’s only V-Twin engine provides ideal engine characteristics for high-level sport riding. And when combined with the CVT transmission, the engine’s awesome output is translated to instant acceleration at all rpm.
Engine/Transmission The key to the Teryx’s impressive acceleration is the combination of its powerful V-Twin engine and its CVT transmission. The only V-Twin in its category offers excellent engine power characteristics: smooth, strong power at all rpm – especially in the mid-range – and quick response. Combined with the CVT transmission, the result is instantaneous acceleration – at any rpm. HAmple torque output from the powerful, liquid-cooled, 749 cc SOHC, 4-valve fuel-injected V-twin engine contributes to the Teryx’s superb acceleration. HThe 90o V-Twin configuration offers perfect primary balance, resulting in low engine vibration. HSlightly increased flyweight mass offers a slight increase in torque feel. HA high-pressure fuel pump is located inside the tank. A unique reservoir chamber at the bottom of the fuel pump ensures air does not get into the fuel system. HEngine power characteristics combined with CVT offer phenomenal acceleration. The CVT gives a very direct feel from the engine, and response is also very quick – ideal characteristics for sport riding. HCVT transmission with high-grade belt is highly durable and designed to handle the high output of the engine. HTo minimise unnecessary belt wear, a transmission failsafe system automatically retards ignition timing and warns the rider via a belt warning lamp should the engine operate at high rpm for more than 2 seconds while the rear wheels remain motionless (i.e. rear wheels are immobilised and the belt is slipping). The system makes use of input from a gear sensor (not in neutral), vehicle speed (measured from the rear wheel), TPS and engine speed. HCooling ducts under the “hood” direct cool air to the engine. HRevised CVT intake duct increases airflow to the CVT room for increased cooling efficiency. HRevised CVT exhaust duct locates the opening higher, making the ingress of water more unlikely. HRevised ignition timing when in reverse and revised FI settings for low-speed operation better enable the engine to deal with increased moisture when driving in shallow water. HAir cleaner upper case and revised duct contributes to reduced noise levels. HHeat shielding on the exhaust pipe below the intake duct effectively reduces intake temperature. HTop piston ring with revised twist angle and end gap, and revisions inside the generator cover improve crankcase oil breathing. HLarger-diameter radiator fan (211 mm >> 282 mm) increases cooling capacity.
FUEL INJECTION When engineers added fuel injection, their primary objective was to maintain the engine character of the earlier model. Riders can enjoy the inherent benefits of fuel injection (setting adjustments are not necessary when changing altitude, idling adjustments are unnecessary, and starting is hassle-free) – plus, increased feeling in the low-mid range, a quicker revving engine and improved response at higher rpm.
Fuel Injection
HTaking into account coolant temperature, air intake temperature, throttle position, air intake pressure, vehicle speed and crankshaft angle, the fuel injection system (which uses 34 mm throttle bodies and a 32-bit CPU) automatically meters out the ideal amount of fuel for extremely stable power delivery – no matter what the conditions. HBecause with fuel injection fuel delivery is instantaneous, response is sharper than ever. HA high-pressure fuel pump is located inside the tank. A unique reservoir chamber at the bottom of the fuel pump ensures air does not get into the fuel system. HEngine power characteristics combined with CVT offer phenomenal acceleration. The CVT gives a very direct feel from the engine, and response is also very quick – ideal characteristics for hard riding. HECU features a fuel injection cut control that limits engine speed should the driver attempt to ride away with the parking brake still engaged.
Transmission / Driveline
HThe specially designed automatic CVT transmission features high and low ranges plus reverse gear. The transmission is designed with the engine to provide instant acceleration HTwo or four wheel drive operation is engaged by pressing a button located on the dash panel. HAn electronically controlled engine braking system helps slow the Teryx in a controlled manner when going down steep inclines. HThe limited slip front differential reduces steering effort under normal four wheel drive operation eliminating the need for power steering while the variable front differential control makes it much easier to get the Teryx moving should it get stuck. HControl is via a hand lever located between the seats. By partially raising the lever, the rider is able to fine-tune the amount of torque to suit conditions. Without rider intervention, the system functions as a limited slip differential. Applying force to the lever increases the torque (thereby reducing slip) to a maximum level equivalent to that of a mechanical differential lock (i.e. no slip) when the system is fully engaged.

High Performance Brake System
HDual 200 mm front disc brakes gripped by 27 mm twin-piston calipers provide solid stopping power at the front. The discs are recessed in the wheels to provide protection from debris, while the rigid-mount calipers deliver enhanced brake feel and increased control. HAt the rear, the Teryx features Kawasaki’s sealed, internal wet brake. Similar to the highly acclaimed design seen on our KVF model ATVs, internal components are completely sealed from mud and dust, etc, ensuring uncompromised rear braking performance. The compact size contributes to a favourable ground clearance. HThe sealed, internal wet brake also offers longer wear life than standard disc brakes.
Chassis To harness the full potential of its mighty V-Twin engine, the Teryx features a stable wide-body chassis and robust, highly rigid frame. HThe frame is constructed of large diameter thin-walled steel tubing for strength and low weight. HIntegrated occupant protection offers a higher level of safety. The Teryx features a Roll Over Protective Structure (ROPS) which meets SAE and FMVSS standards. HThe suspension is focused toward sport driving making driving off road at speed safer. HThe wide track provides excellent stability and the chassis has 295 mm of ground clearance. HLong dual front A-arm suspension and narrow frame concept delivers 190mm of wheel travel and features adjustable Kayaba gas charged shock absorbers. HIndependent rear suspension provides the best balance between rider comfort and high speed handling. HThe gas charged Kayaba rear shocks give 190mm of wheel travel. HThe chassis is designed to let the driver tackle corners drift or grip style and can operate beyond the limits of its competitors.
Ergonomics
HThe Teryx offers the shoulder and legroom to comfortably accommodate 2 adults. H Form-fitting bucket seats and three-point seatbelts hold driver and passenger firmly in place HSteel floorboards and engine guards offer maximum protection. HFoot guards are designed into the floor and body. HDual 40 watt headlamps and dual tail lamps enable night use. HBodywork is made from a high gloss scratch resistant Thermo-Plastic.
Wheels/Tyres
HExcellent rough terrain performance and obstacle clearance are provided by the Maxxis 26” tyres developed especially for the Teryx. HThe tread design enables both controlled sliding and forward traction.
