A HYUNDAI PRIORITY SALES EXPERIENCE Customer expectations continue to rise. Today, quality, value and satisfaction are often equal factors that customers study when considering their next vehicle. Like accolades and high marks for design, quality and value, being able to claim a best-in-class sales experience can be a huge selling point for Hyundai, for your dealership and for you. Today’s customers want useful information, expect credible expertise from the dealership staff, and, above all, they want to have their needs and opinions respected. The Hyundai Priority Experience is a philosophy for conducting business the Hyundai way that is rooted in our customer’s core values, is representative of the Hyundai Sales Assurance pledge, and exemplifies the behaviors customers expect in a satisfying sales experience. A Hyundai Priority Sales Experience is based on the four basic requirements every customer has when shopping for, purchasing and taking delivery of a new vehicle: Learn My Needs: take the time to ask me questions, listen to me and gain an understanding of what I am looking for at every touchpoint. Experience the Product: be a product expert and deliver the information and answers I need to make an informed decision. Work Out a Great Deal: treat me with respect, value my time, and configure a package of products and services that are mutually beneficial. Take Ownership: provide me with the information, support and training I need to take full advantage of all that Hyundai has to offer. A Hyundai Priority Experience also acknowledges that an experience is not limited to what happens on the lot. Rather, how you and your dealership are portrayed and represented before the customer ever visits your dealership can determine whether prospects consider us or not; and how the entire sales team treats new owners after they have purchased not only can directly influence repeat and referral opportunities but, indirectly, influence the consideration of a much larger base of potential Hyundai and dealership customers.

A customer-focused sales interaction requires that the customer’s needs lead the process. Therefore, it is critical that you begin the relationship by taking the time to ask for and truly listen to the customer’s “hot buttons” and become fully aware of what they specifically want and need from their shopping and purchase experience. This requires a consultative selling approach that utilizes several communication skills to build rapport as you ask questions, listen, and determine the customer’s primary lifestyle and vehicle use. Know everything you can about your products and the competition. Greet the customer in a timely manner. Make a great first impression. Offer a friendly, helpful greeting. Communicate with charisma and professionalism. Establish and build rapport. Discover their needs and wants. Find out and show respect for what the customer already knows. Show that you care … take notes.
By getting to know the customers and their “hot buttons,” you can more accurately match your customers to a vehicle and a retail experience that will satisfy their needs—satisfaction that can lead to a sale!

Experience the Product Very rarely will customers make a major purchase “sight unseen.” Rather, discerning shoppers want to try the product on for size— especially when that product is a significant purchase, such as an automobile. Customers expect Hyundai dealership associates to be a reliable source for the information needed to make an informed buying decision. Survey results show a direct correlation between your knowledge and expertise and customer satisfaction. Keep these Hyundai Priority Practices in mind when helping your customer experience a Hyundai vehicle: • Stage vehicles for maximum impact and easy access. • Conduct an appropriate, customer-focused product presentation. • Use an organized walkaround format and involve the customer in operating key features. • Use the SPACCED model to organize your presentation and stay focused on what matters to the customer. • Incorporate Blue Link into every vehicle presentation. • Inspire and encourage customers to want to take a test drive. • Use the PEFC model to effectively demonstrate features on the test drive. • Answer customer questions effectively, efficiently and honestly. Helping your customer get familiar and comfortable with the product gives them a chance to make a personal connection between the vehicle’s features and their own wants and needs, a bond that encourages them to take ownership of the vehicle.

Buying a vehicle is a major investment and customers are typically concerned about price, payments, credit, affordability and a number of other issues. The goal at this point in the process must be for everyone involved to listen, answer questions, and provide the information the customer needs to make an informed decision. Customers want to do business with professionals who can be counted on to conduct negotiations using honesty and integrity. Unfortunately, many customers have a bias toward the automobile business and overcoming their lack of trust becomes the first hurdle to a successful negotiation and sale.

Work Out a Great Deal
Consider these Hyundai Priority Practices when helping your customer and your dealership work out a great deal: • • • • • • • • •
Create a relaxed, comfortable and respectful environment. Introduce the sales manager and F&I manager early in the process. Build value by prioritizing the customer’s needs ahead of yours. Explain the entire process up front. Negotiate for win-win and with full disclosure. Use checklists and keep all paperwork and notes together and organized in a deal jacket. Protect your customer’s personal information by appropriately safeguarding deal jackets. Include the customer in all facets of the transaction. Be mindful of time and avoid leaving the customer unattended or waiting.
By staying focused on customer needs and helping guide them through the financial phases of the process in an open and transparent manner, you have a better chance of not only earning their business today but becoming a trusted and valued partner for their future needs as well.

Take Ownership The act of “taking ownership” is the moment in the process when the customers claim the vehicle and your dealership as their own. This is the moment, or rather a collection of moments, that must validate the customer’s decision to purchase a Hyundai. With so much at stake, it’s vital that you leave nothing to chance. That means planning and executing every detail of the delivery and the customer relationship that follows. Employ these Hyundai Priority Practices to ensure success with delivery and beyond: • Whether spot or scheduled delivery, plan and double-check everything. • Create a WOW moment. • Orient the customer to the host of benefits and services Hyundai offers owners, especially MyHyundai.com and Blue Link. • Take the time to help the customer personalize their vehicle. • Use the Quick Reference Guide (QRG) and complete the Delivery Checklist. • Introduce the customer to the service department and help them set their first service appointment. • Schedule a reconnect visit to answer questions and help the customer learn more. • Be diligent in your follow-up and invite your customers to provide feedback. • Be an ongoing resource for all your customer’s vehicle needs. Taking ownership of a new vehicle can be one of the most memorable events in a person’s life. It’s also a great opportunity to solidify your relationship with the customer by creating a positive sales experience that encourages their loyalty to you, the dealership and the Hyundai brand. The Hyundai Priority Experience and Hyundai Priority Practices are the result of extensive research and customer feedback. When put in place, these practices will help you get to know your customer better, provide the best possible customer experience, and increase overall sales satisfaction.

Adaptive Front Light System On some vehicles equipped with HID Xenon headlights, this automatic adjustment feature is linked to the steering system and can turn the headlights into corners to ensure maximum illumination. Anti-lock Braking System This computer-controlled system helps maintain steering control during emergency stops by rapidly pumping the brakes on one or more wheels to help prevent the vehicle from skidding.

MODEL LINE TECHNOLOGIES Active ECO When the driver presses a button to engage the system, engine response and transmission control are automatically modified to help increase fuel economy. The key to achieving improved fuel economy is to apply light pressure to the accelerator, avoiding “jack rabbit” starts.
Backup Warning Sensors When the transmission is in Reverse, ultrasonic sensors measure the distance between the rear bumper and an object within range. A beeping sound will warn the driver when it gets close to the bumper. When the object is very close, a continuous tone will sound. Blind Spot Detection When vehicles are following closely behind the car on either side in the driver’s “blind spot,” the system automatically detects them and warns the driver with visual cues in the outside mirrors, also providing an audible alert for safety. The driver can turn off the system if desired. Blue Drive Hybrid System Developed by Hyundai, this fuel-efficient system is a full parallel hybrid drive system which can operate on its electric motor, its gasoline engine or a combination of the two, depending on driving conditions and driver demands. Unlike most traditional hybrids, Hyundai’s system delivers excellent fuel economy on the highway because it allows greater use of the electric motor at speeds up to 74 miles per hour. Blue Link Allows Hyundai vehicles to send and receive important or useful information. The system uses an enhanced cellular network with automatic roaming that optimizes connections and prioritizes emergency requests. Blue Link can help users find local points of interest, local authorities can track and control the vehicle if it’s stolen and users can even operate various vehicle features remotely.

MODEL LINE TECHNOLOGIES (Cont’d) Bluetooth Once a compatible smartphone is synced with the vehicle’s controls, drivers can make and receive voice-activated calls by pressing buttons on the steering wheel or instrument panel. For added convenience, music can also be streamed from the phone to the vehicle’s audio system. Brake Assist This technology senses emergency braking situations, based on the speed of pedal application by the driver, and then applies additional braking force for maximum stopping power. Downhill Brake Control Designed to help the driver maintain vehicle control on steep, downhill descents by maintaining a certain speed without using the brakes. The driver engages the system by pressing a switch. It automatically disengages when the driver applies the brakes. Drive Mode Select Allows the driver to chose from different modes depending on conditions and driver preference to meet immediate needs. Modes (that vary by vehicle application) include: ECO — Fuel saving driving Normal — Regular, comfortable driving Sport — Dynamic driving Snow — Low-traction conditions System automatically tailors vehicle response in each setting for optimal performance. Driver Information System This interface provides control over key systems like vehicle settings, phone operation, navigation, the entertainment system and Blue Link. It brings together these systems and gives the driver several convenient ways to access them. Driver Selectable Steering Mode With three operating modes, Comfort, Normal and Sport, this innovative system allows drivers to adapt steering characteristics to varying driving preferences and road conditions anytime they choose for extra comfort and convenience. Dual Clutch Transmission Offers drivers the fuel economy of a manual transmission without having to operate a clutch pedal. Basically, it’s a manual transmission that can be shifted automatically. With sophisticated computer control, shifts can be made in automatic mode or manually using Sport Mode.

Electronic Brake-force Distribution This safety feature automatically adjusts braking levels at individual wheels that are carrying the least amount of weight for smooth, comfortable stops and to help prevent skidding. Electronic Parking Brake Increases comfort by applying the parking brake with the ease of a switch. Includes automatic vehicle hold that applies the parking brake when the vehicle stops and then releases as soon as the accelerator is pressed to help prevent the vehicle from rolling backward. Electronic Stability Control Applies braking, retards engine timing or reduces the throttle to help keep the vehicle on the driver’s intended path. Electronic Stability Control is meant to enhance and assist conscientious driving habits and is not a substitute for safe driving practices.

Forward Collision Warning Monitors the road ahead using the Lane Departure Warning System camera and alerts the driver with an alarm to apply the brakes when another vehicle is approaching at an unsafe rate of speed. Gasoline Direct Injection Provides a more direct path of fuel delivery to the cylinders, allowing for a more efficient control of the fuel mixture. A high-pressure fuel pump along with a higher than normal compression ratio improves engine power and helps increase fuel economy. Gracenote Technologies For greater listening pleasure and convenience, this lets users take control of their music library with voice-recognition technology that allows the retrieval and display of album cover art, and select music by artist, album and genre when connected to an iPod. Hands-free Smart Trunk/Liftgate This feature is designed to open the trunk or tailgate automatically for ease in loading and unloading cargo. With the Proximity Key in a pocket or purse, the driver approaches the trunk or tailgate and it opens in about ten seconds. The detection area is approximately three feet around the trunk perimeter. Hillstart Assist Control This technology minimizes the vehicle from rolling backward when starting out on a steep hill. When the driver releases the brake, it helps keep the vehicle stationary for a few seconds, giving the driver time to apply the throttle.

MODEL LINE TECHNOLOGIES (Cont’d) Integrated Memory System Two different drivers can save their preferred settings for features like the driver’s seat, the outside mirrors and the power steering column for added comfort and convenience. Lane Change Assist Performs a similar function to Blind Spot Detection by increasing the monitoring area while helping to detect vehicles approaching toward the rear and sides of the vehicle at high speeds and alerting the driver. Lane Departure Warning A small camera mounted ahead of the rearview mirror monitors lane markings on the road ahead. If the vehicle begins to drift across the lane marking without use of the turn signal, a warning light and chime are triggered to help restore the driver’s attention. Navigation System Uses Global Positioning System satellites to determine the position of the vehicle and then display it on a dash-mounted screen via a DVD-based or hard disc drive map contained within the navigation system. Provides visual and audio prompts so the driver can get directions without looking away from the road. Pandora Internet Radio Lets users wirelessly stream Internet radio from their compatible iPhone or Android to the vehicle’s audio system speakers. Users can create personalized radio stations from a single song, artist or composer. Panoramic Sunroof Gives passengers a wide-open feeling with a twin-panel design that covers the front and rear seats. The front panel opens while the rear panel stays in a stationary position. Rear Cross-traffic Alert Detects vehicles about to cross behind the car and warns the driver if cars are approaching from the side when backing out of a parking space. Rear-view Camera Displays the view behind the vehicle when the transmission is shifted into Reverse. Lines on the screen provide a visual aid to help the driver position the vehicle into the desired parking space.

MODEL LINE TECHNOLOGIES (Cont’d) SHIFTRONIC The automatic transmission’s gated design offers drivers the fun and responsiveness of a manual transmission without having to operate a clutch pedal. Placing the shift lever into the manual mode enables the driver to shift gears by tapping the lever forward or back, or by using the paddles mounted on the steering wheel on some models. Smart Cruise Control with Stop/Start Senses the distance to objects in front and automatically applies the brakes to maintain a driver’s selected distance. Will automatically come to a complete stop when the vehicle ahead stops. If the vehicle ahead resumes in less than 3 seconds, the system will automatically resume with the selected distance. If the delay is longer, the driver must manually resume driving. Torsen-type Limited-slip Differential Distributes torque between the rear drive wheels to enhance handling and performance. The differential will direct torque to the wheel with the most traction to provide better acceleration and direction control. Traction Control System Monitors wheelspin of the drive wheels during acceleration. It will alter engine output and use necessary braking to match throttle input to road surface conditions. Twin-scroll Turbocharger Directs more air into the engine than a single-scroll turbocharger while increasing the pressure entering the cylinders. This allows the air entering to be more densely packed for higher compression and better performance, contributing to a more efficient burn and fuel efficiency. Vehicle Stability Management System Monitors functions of a number of safety systems, including Electronic Stability Control, Anti-lock Braking and Traction Control, along with Motor Driven Power Steering and controls them seamlessly for the driver under most road conditions.

EXCLUSIVE GENESIS TECHNOLOGIES Automatic Emergency Braking (5.0, optional 3.8) Applies the brakes when another vehicle is detected at an unsafe closing rate of speed. This system uses Smart Cruise Control and the forward camera from Lane Departure Warning. At speeds from 50 to 112 mph, it will apply partial braking and alert the driver of a potential collision. It will apply full braking at speeds from 5 to 50 mph. CO2 Sensor (optional) Hyundai engineers discovered that occupants start to get drowsy when CO2 levels are more than 2,000 parts per million. This system manages ventilation to always keep CO2 at safe levels and help ensure maximum driver alertness. Drive Mode Selector Allows driver to choose from four modes depending on conditions and driving preferences: ECO – Fuel-saving driving Normal – Regular, comfortable driving Sport – Dynamic driving Snow – Low-traction conditions Each mode alters transmission shifting, throttle response, stability control and suspension damping settings. These settings are adapted to function seamlessly when equipped with optional HTRAC all-wheel drive. Genesis Intelligent Assistant App This combines Blue Link features, data from the vehicle, the owner’s smartphone and the internet to send proactive notifications and recommendations. By providing the app their commuting details and access to their smartphone’s calendar, drivers can have the app automatically estimate appropriate departure times and send reminders for upcoming appointments. Google Glass™ App A computerized lightweight headset, Google Glass can project text and images for the wearer to see on a special optical display. Through the app, users can access Blue Link’s vehicle safety, service and infotainment features. This app is a framework for the future with additional proactive functionality progressively available to provide customers with the ultimate luxuries of time and convenience. High Beam Assist (5.0, optional 3.8) Automatically switches from high to low beams when an oncoming vehicle or a car in front is detected.

Haptic Steering Wheel (5.0, optional 3.8) Haptic steering wheel vibration occurs as part of the Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist and Blind Spot Detection systems to help alert the driver to potentially unsafe conditions.
HTRAC All-wheel Drive (optional 3.8) Provides increased stability and quicker response to slippery road conditions such as rain and snow. Uses an electronic, variable torque-split clutch located in the center transfer case with active torque control between the front and rear axles. Drive Mode Selector setting choices are adapted to function seamlessly with this system. Lane Change Assist (5.0, optional 3.8) Performs a similar function to Blind Spot Detection by helping to detect vehicles approaching toward the rear and sides of the vehicle at high speeds and alerting the driver. Lane Keep Assist (5.0, optional 3.8) Works with Lane Departure Warning to provide a driver-adjustable level of steering assist to help prevent inadvertent lane departure when the vehicle approaches the edge of a lane. This also alerts the driver with haptic steering wheel feedback. Hands-free Smart Trunk with Auto Open This feature is designed to open the trunk automatically for ease in loading and unloading cargo. With the Proximity Key in a pocket or purse, the driver approaches the trunk and it opens in about three seconds. The detection area is approximately three feet around the trunk perimeter.

EXCLUSIVE EQUUS TECHNOLOGIES Dual Rear Seat Video Monitors (Ultimate) Settings for the audio system, navigation and rear climate controls can be viewed on the dual 9.2-inch Liquid Crystal Displays mounted on the front seatbacks. DVDs and Jukebox videos stored on the navigation system’s hard drive can be displayed on the screens. On-screen media is controlled using DIS MENU selections and the controller knob in the front or rear console. Electronically Controlled Air Suspension with Ride Height Selection and Continuous Damping Control Works in real time to constantly adjust to changing road conditions. Under normal conditions, the suspension is controlled for ride comfort. When the driver selects Sport mode, the suspension, steering and transmission are tuned for a sportier feel and response.
Multi-view Camera (Ultimate) Using the forward, rear and side mirror-mounted cameras, the system generates an aerial 360-degree view around the car, to aid parking in tight spaces. The driver can also select front, rear and side views using a button located at the rear of the front center console (camera icon).

Forward-view Cornering Camera (Ultimate) Provides an extra margin of safety when negotiating tight urban alleys and parking areas with poor visibility. When the driver turns the camera on, a wide-angle image of the area ahead of the vehicle is shown on the main display screen.
Smart Cruise Control with Vehicle Stop/Start and Pre-collision Warning System Senses the distance to objects in front and automatically applies the brakes to maintain a driver’s selected distance. Will automatically come to a complete stop when the vehicle ahead stops. If the vehicle ahead resumes in less than 3 seconds, the system will automatically resume with the selected distance. If the delay is longer, the driver must manually resume driving. Also senses the possibility of a collision, warns the driver and pre-charges the brakes to help provide maximum braking power in case of rapid deceleration. Steering Wheel Haptic Dial Control Gives the driver easy fingertip access to a wealth of information with the ability to view and adjust the following systems and information: • Audio use • Compass/Navigation • Service • Settings • Cruise Control • Trip Computer
