Issue 68 September—October 2017 Extra cardboard If you have extra cardboard from a recent move or purchase and it does not fit in your recycling cart, you have a couple of options for recycling it: 1) Place it curbside next to your recycling cart on your recycling day. It needs to be flattened and cut into pieces no larger than 3'x3' (so it will fit in the truck). If you have a large amount of extra cardboard that you’re putting out curbside, we would appreciate if you could let us know in advance. 2) Bring it to our recycling depot in Sherwood. It needs to be flattened and cut into pieces no larger than 5'x5'. Our depot is open Monday through Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm. Glass bottles and jars can be placed in your red bin for recycling but cannot go in your blue lidded recycling cart. Bottles and jars are the only glass material that is acceptable for recycling. Discard all lids and corks. Do not include unacceptable glass such as mirrors, windows, plates, ceramics, drinking glasses, etc. The glass in those items cannot be recycled in the same way as the glass from bottles and jars. Motor oil is picked up on the same schedule as your glass recycling. Motor oil must be in a see-through 1-gallon container with a screw top lid (like a milk jug) and cannot be mixed with any other fluids. Motor oil is the only fluid accepted curbside for recycling. Even if you do not have glass to put out, if you’re putting out motor oil you should still put it in your red bin or next to it. That way it’s easier for the driver to see. A jug of motor oil can be easily missed if it’s out by itself. Shred old documents and paperwork securely. Pride Recycling Company offers shredding services at your home or business, with one time, occasional, or regular shredding. Secure drop off is also available at the Pride Depot in Sherwood. Whether at your home or place of business, disposing of intact confidential information is a risk. Contact us to have it shredded and protect yourself and/or your customers from this risk. Pre-paid shred bags for $5. P urchase a paper bag (grocery bag size) for $5 from the Pride office. Take the bag home, fill it with paper to be shredded, and bring it back to the recycling depot to be shredded when it is convenient for you. Please call Pride Recycling Company at 503-625-0725 for pricing and other information on services available. You can also visit our website: www.priderecycling.com.
