Warning: The PCK-PT/PF must be installed by a qualified electrician. All assembly, installation, and test instructions must be followed. Improper installation can result in property damage, serious injury, or death due to electric shock. Please call Delta-Therm Corporation at 1-800-526-7887 with any installation or operating questions.
End Termination (PT50) 1. Locate heater zone markers. Cut cable 4" from the end of the last marker.
7. Install conduit and power feed to junction box. 8. Cut back one of the heater cable conductors 5/8" so the splices will be staggered. Strip the leads back 1/4" on the heater cable conductors and the power feed lead wires.

2. Trim braid 1 1/2" from the end of the cable. Remove 3/4" of the outer insulation from the end of the cable. Remove the nichrome wire from the insulated bus wires. Stagger the bus wires by cutting one lead 1/4" shorter than the other (do not strip ends). Apply fiberglass tape to the area shown.
9. Butt splice the heater cable conductors to the power feed wires, using the non-insulated butt splices. BUTT CONNECTORS
1 1/2" 3/4" 1/4"
10.Insulate the butt splices using the 6" self fusing silicone tape pieces. (Note that the tape should be stretched tightly over the splices.)
FIBERGLASS TAPE (HALF LAP) SILICONE TAPE
3. Insert the cable end into the end cap completely. Seal the end cap by completely taping over the end cap with 6" self fusing silicone tape. Start at the braid and half-lap (under tension) over the cap and double back over the cap finishing over the braid.
11.Insulate the entire spliced area from the outer Jacket side, to one inch past the spliced area. Use the 6" piece of self fusing tape.
12.Seal the entry from the connection nipple with silicone sealant (RTV). Insert the splice into the junction box and cover. Fasten the caution label (CL-S) to the junction box.
Braid 1. Remove the braid in areas to be terminated by combing the braid with care, or trimming to the dimensions indicated above. Power termination side: Twist the braid together to form a conductor. Crimp the ring connector to the braid, and fasten to the junction box. End termination side: Before trimming, wrap braid with electrical tape to hold in place. Trim to the dimension shown above.

HIGH TEMP SERIES (PF) Volts* 120 to 480 V olts* Delta-Therm's Power Trace brand, zone-type constant watt heating cable produces a constant heat output. Designed for freeze protection and process heating applications, our PF Series cable has a maximum maintenance temperature of 200oF and a maximum exposure temperature of 400oF. See back page for additional specifications. 12 AWG Tinned Copper Bus Wire
Description Extruded FEP Teflon™ Insulating Jacket
Nichrome Wire Heating Element Soldered Heater-Bus Connection Zone Marker Extruded FEP Teflon™ Insulating Jacket
Color-Coded Extruded FEP Teflon™ Insulating Jacket
PF Series constant watt cable consists of two parallel 12 AWG stranded, tinned-copper bus wires individually encased in extruded FEP Teflon™ jackets. A nichrome wire heating element is wrapped around the jacket and soldered to alternating bus wires at 24-inch to 48-inch intervals (depending on the cable model). The jacket and the nichrome wire are encased in an extruded FEP insulating jacket, which is covered by a color-coded FEP overjacket. A stainless steel braided overjacket provides additional mechanical strength and meets NEC requirements as stated in Articles 427-22 and 427-23. See back page for further details. FEP jackets provide the flexibility needed for pipe, valve, pump, and flange tracing. FEP jackets also offer outstanding resistance to corrosive chemicals such as gasoline and oils. Color-coded and marked for easy identification, the cables can be cut to length in the field for quick installation. When used in freeze protection and process heating applications, PF cables can be safely overlapped. See back page to operate PF cables at alternate voltages.
Applications PF Series cable can be used in freeze protection and process heating applications.

T-AL200 AND T-AL400 Aluminum Heat Transfer Tape
DESCRIPTION Delta-Therm aluminum heat transfer tape comes with an acrylic-based adhesive backing for securing heating cable to tanks or pipes. Recommended for use on plastic and/or metal pipe to improve heat transfer. NOTES FOR TRACED PLASTIC PIPES Aluminum heat transfer tape must be used on plastic pipe to partially offset the poor heat transfer characteristics of plastic. Install the aluminum heat transfer tape directly to the pipe in the same direction as the heating cable. Install cable over the tape. NOTES FOR TRACED METAL PIPES Strap cable to pipe every 12” (30cm). Apply tape over cable in the same direction so that the heater cable is centered within the tape. For applications with Power Trace constant watt cables, apply the T-AL200 over the cable. Refer to Detail 1 on back. SPECIFICATIONS Elongation:

INSTALLING THE ALUMINUM HEAT TRANSFER TAPE Apply Delta-Therm T-AL200 or T-AL400 aluminum heat transfer tape on the outside of PVC, fiberglass, or other non-metallic pipes where the cable is to be installed. When installing constant watt cable, apply two layers of T-AL tape, one layer under the cable and the other layer over the cable. When installing self-regulating cable, apply one layer over the cable. Apply Delta-Therm T-AL200 or T-AL400 aluminum heat transfer tape on the outside of metal pipes only when constant wattage cable is to be installed. Apply one layer over the constant wattage cable.
