LAN Products Overview Information
This family of high quality Ethernet connectivity products supports 10Mbit/s, 100Mbit/s and Gigabit Ethernet and can be used in a wide range of applications including small office/home office (SOHO), shops, office buildings, professional workgroups, campus, fibre-to-the-desk and industrial systems. The media converters are used to extend Ethernet segments or LAN users to servers and network elements using singlemode or multimode optical fibres based on the MT-RJ, ST and SC connector formats. Support for singlemode single fibre WDM is also available The compact Ethernet LAN switches are ideal for connecting small, medium or large workgroups to servers, printers, routers and other network devices. With switches that support SNMP management and high function layer 2 features more demanding applications can be supported. With a strong focus on cost-effectiveness, quality and simple installation, these Ethernet products enable a wide range of reliable network solutions to be easily created.

Unmanaged 10/100Mbit/s Ethernet Media Converters
These high performance Media Converters extend 10Base-T and 100Base-TX Ethernet LAN signals from S/UTP Cat3/5/5e structured wiring over multimode or singlemode optical fibres using the 100Base-FX Ethernet standard. These compact units automatically negotiate the required data rate, most duplex modes and resolve the MDI/MDI-X crossover state using N-Way negotiation. Network resilience is increased through the Link Loss Forwarding function that allows suitable LAN switches to implement alternate paths when required. These powerful features reduce the need to manually adjust settings, eliminate cross-over cables and minimise inventory costs. An external 9V AC mains power supply adapter is provided and also rack mounting brackets should the units require housing in the 10 slot rack enclosure. Support for “Pure” converter mode now enables the converter to be used where a low latency application is required. A WDM single fibre singlemode converter is also available in this range. This adds flexibility to the range and adds support for larger networks where maximising fibre network resources is vital. Meeting relevant industry standards for 10 and 100Mbit/s Ethernet, installation is ‘plug-andplay’ requiring no technical knowledge. Gigabit Ethernet Media converter
These high performance Media Converters extend Gigabit Ethernet 10/100/1000 BaseT LAN signals from S/UTP Cat5e structured wiring over either multimode or singlemode optical fibres using the 1000Base-SX and 1000Base-LX standards. The media converters automatically negotiate the MDI/MDI-X crossover state eliminating the need for crossover RJ-45 cables, which simplifies installation. Support for auto-negotiation and Link loss forwarding further enhance this high functionality converter. Meeting relevant industry standards for Gigabit 1000Mbit/s Ethernet, installation is ‘plug-and-play’ requiring no technical knowledge. 19 Inch Rack-Mount Chassis system
This 19” rack-mount chassis supports upto 10 of the 10/100Mbit/s and Gigabit Ethernet Media Converters enabling very simple and effective termination of Ethernet and other circuits in the wiring closet or equipment room. This rack unit is ideal for enterprise environments. Different media converter types can be freely mixed and hot-swapped within the chassis enabling highly flexible solutions to be created. For special applications, a second power supply can be fitted into the chassis to deliver an exceptionally reliable dual redundant power system. Power units can be hot-swapped in critical network applications.

Managed 10/100Mbit/s and Gigabit Ethernet Media Converters
This family of very easy-to-install Ethernet managed media converters in a 19” chassis system are ideal for telecom and corporate applications where a number of fibre links Need to be managed and controlled from a central location. These high quality managed Units extend 10M, 100M and Gigabit LAN circuits over singlemode and multimode fibre links for secure, real-time network systems. WDM single mode single fibre converters are also available in this managed range. The managed converter range is fully compatible with the unmanaged converter range and can interconnect over optical fibre paths. The chassis supports up to 16 hot-swappable media converter units and is fully manageable through a Web browser, Telnet, SNMP or Console interface. Compatible with all standard 100Mbps and Gigabit optical interfaces. All units support Auto-negotiation and Link loss forwarding and these settings are fully configurable for each individual converter by the integral management element.
