Thank you for choosing this FD Trinitron Integrated Digital Television This step by step guide will help you to: Connect an aerial to the TV, Connect a video cassette recorder (VCR) to the TV, Supplied RF lead Insert batteries into the remote control, Scart lead (not supplied) Switch on the TV, Tune the TV, Adjust the picture and sound settings, Get to know the remote control. 1. 2. Connect your aerial lead to the socket labelled 3. Connect an RF lead from the socket labelled OUT* on your VCR to the socket labelled ANALOGUE on the rear of the TV. 4. Connect a fully wired 21-pin scart lead from the socket labelled i2/r on the rear of the TV to the socket labelled TV* on your VCR** 5. Insert a pre-recorded tape into the VCR and press the ‘PLAY’ button. The ‘Autotune’ prompt. Do you want to start automatic tuning? 1. Press the MENU button on the remote control to display the TV menu system on the TV screen. Yes No 2. Press the b button to enter the ‘Picture Adjustment’ menu. 3. The ‘Mode’ option is highlighted. Press the b button. 4. Press the V or v button to highlight ‘Live’, ‘Movie’ or ‘Personal’. Press the OK button to confirm. 5. a) If you have selected ‘Live’ or ‘Movie’: Go to step 6. / button OK 1. b) If some correction is required, press the V or v button to highlight ‘Adjust now’. Press the OK button to continue. Press the V or v button to correct the slant. Press the OK button to store. 2. b) If you have selected ‘Personal’: You can now adjust the ‘Brightness’, ‘Colour’ and ‘Sharpness’ settings. When you switch on the TV for the first time a menu appears on the screen asking you to check if the picture is slanted. (Sometimes the Earth’s natural magnetism can cause the screen to look slanted.) a) If no correction is required, press the V or v button to highlight ‘Not necessary’. Press the OK button to continue. The autotune prompt appears. Press the OK button to select ‘Yes’. The autotune procedure begins. The digital autotune display appears on screen and the TV starts to search for all the available digital channels. This may take some time, please be patient and do not press any buttons on the TV or remote control. If no digital or analogue channels are found, a message appears asking you to confirm that the aerial is connected correctly. Check all the aerial connections and press the OK button to start the autotune procedure again. When the digital autotune is complete, the analogue autotune starts to search for all the available analogue channels. Once all available digital and analogue channels have been stored, the TV returns to normal operation, displaying the digital channel stored on channel number 1. If no digital channels are found, the analogue channel stored on channel 1 is displayed. % button 2 +/buttons PROG +/buttons Press the V or v button to highlight ‘Brightness’, ‘Colour’ or ‘Sharpness’. Press the b button. Press the B or b button to adjust the setting. Press the OK button to store. 6. Press the MENU button to exit the TV menu system and return to normal TV operation. To Press Select channels... PROG+/- or Numbered buttons. When selecting double digit numbers using the Numbered buttons, enter the second digit within two seconds. Adjusting the sound settings This TV has four sound mode settings. ‘Personal’, ‘Rock*, ‘Pop, and ‘Jazz’. 1. Press the MENU button on the remote control to display the TV menu system on the TV screen. Adjust the volume... 2 +/- buttons 2. Press the v button to select the ‘Sound Adjustment’ menu. Mute the sound... % button. Press again to cancel. 3. Press the b button to enter the ‘Sound Adjustment’ menu. Turn off the TV temporarily... 4. The ‘Mode’ option is highlighted. Press the b button. TV I/1 on the remote control. When the TV is in standby mode the 1 indicator on the TV is lit red. Press again to return to normal TV operation. 5. Press the V or v button to highlight ‘Personal’, ‘Rock’, ‘Pop’ or ‘Jazz’. Press the OK button to confirm. Switch between analogue and digital mode... DIGITAL/a button. 6. a) If you have selected ‘Rock’, ‘Pop’ or ‘Jazz’: Go to step 7. The TV has now tuned in all the available channels b) If you have selected ‘Personal’: You can now adjust the ‘Treble’ and ‘Bass’ settings. Press the V or v button to highlight ‘Treble’ or ‘Bass’. Press the b button. Press the B or b button to adjust the setting. Press the OK button to store. 7. Press the MENU button to exit the TV menu system and return to normal TV operation. Change the Screen Mode... button. Watch pictures from equipment connected to the TV’s front and rear sockets (video input mode)... t/ button repeatedly until the picture appears. Access text services (depending on availability of service)... / button. Return to normal TV operation (from text, video input mode etc)... DIGITAL/a button.
