BX2220 Installation Instructions 1999-02 Honda Odyssey Installation of this baseplate requires removing the bumper molding. Holes will have to be drilled out in the engine cradle and the bottom of the bumper, The top edge of the air dam will be notched, and the plastic piece on the bottom of the bumper and the bumper cover will be trimmed. A Blue Ox adapter is needed when using car mounted tow bar. 1.
Open and remove the push pins from the top black plastic cover surrounding the hood latch. Remove the two Hex bolts fastening the quarter panels and the bumper molding.

Remove the Hex head bolts on the bottom of the bumper molding (by tires).

Remove the four push pins from bottom of bumper molding. Remove bumper molding and set aside.

Hold the baseplate (Item 1) so the middle braces set up against the back of the metal bumper and the outside plates are on the outside of each frame. Mark the side plate holes and the front brace holes. Set baseplate down. Remove the three bolts, two top and one bottom, from each bumper bracket and remove the metal bumper (10mm Wrench). Set aside.

Drill the previously marked holes, two 3/8" holes in the back of the metal bumper and the two 1/2" holes for each side of the frame. Leave the 3/8" holes on the sides for later.

Insert the 1/2" nut plate (Items 2 and 3) in the frame openings and loosely bolt (use Loctite) the baseplate to the main frame. Mount the metal bumper back on the frame. Insert nut plate (Items 4) through the 3/8" holes. Remove the front styrofoam piece from metal bumper and use plug holes to see nut plate if you are having difficulty inserting it in the hole. Loctite bolts and torque according to the Torque Chart in the General Instruction Sheet.

Drill the last 3/8" holes for each side and use 3/8" hardware provided. Torque each bolt accordingly.

Replace the bumper facia.

The dimensional variations between otherwise identical cars can be considerable. While the location and size of the holes in the baseplate were designed to allow for easy installation, it may be necessary to file a hole slightly to allow a bolt to clear.
10. Install the tow bar and safety cables according to the instructions included in their packages.
11. Do not substitute other devices if the tow bar pin and clip are lost. 12. DEALER OR INSTALLER: BE CERTAIN THE USER RECEIVES THE INSTRUCTION SHEET.
