Description Lowell’s speaker/grille Model WB12-12P150 is listed under UL Standard 1480 - General Signaling. The model features Lowell’s powerful 12P150 12-inch driver mounted to the popular WB12 white ceiling grille and is UL listed and plenum rated (2043) for use with backbox/transformer assembly Model ULXCP1210TM100 (order separately). The high performance 100W transformer Model TLM10070A is 4.45 lbs and ships mounted INSIDE the UL required backbox. Model WB12-12P150 is engineered for 70V distributed paging applications that require high energy and/or high ceiling installation. Compact 10.5”D acoustical backbox facilitates use where plenum space is limited. It is ideal to meet performance and code requirements in clubs and sports bars, airport terminals and concourses, hotel ballrooms, and convention center exhibit floors. Driver Model 12P150 is a 150-watt 12-inch assembly featuring a robust motor structure with a 38oz. magnet and a 2-inch voice coil wound on a Kapton former. The compression driver tweeter is coaxially mounted behind the woofer and provides increased

power handling with greater efficiency than a conventional dome tweeter. A built-in crossover network with a third-order high-pass and 2nd-order low pass filter accomplishes proper frequency division between the two drivers. Frequency response extends down to 40Hz, and sensitivity is a highly efficient 96dB at 1watt, 1 meter. The loudspeaker frame is stamped 18-gauge steel with a corrosion-resistant black electrocoat finish. *NOTE: In non-UL applications, the 12P150 driver is recommended for use in a larger volume backbox such as those used in Lowell’s ready-toinstall iMounttm speaker systems. The driver is mounted to grille Model WB12 which is an attractive two-piece perforated steel grille finished in durable white powder epoxy paint. The grille is 17.25” Dia and mounts to the backbox using four 8-32 x 1.5” white Phillips-head screws (included). The transformer is Model TLM10070A with primary taps at 100, 64, 32 and 16 watts and frequency response of 50Hz - 15kHz +1dB. The transformer is factory mounted to studs on the inside of UL Listed backbox Model ULXCP1210-TM100. Backbox Model ULXCP1210-TM100 is ordered separately and is required to maintain UL Listing. It features a flat grille mounting flange for recessed installation in new drywall construction or tile ceiling applications where plenum space for a large speaker system is limited. The 10”D (0.9 cu.ft.) acoustically treated backbox is fabricated of welded, unitized heavy gauge steel, undercoated and lined with 1.5” thick acoustic batting to eliminate acoustic and metallic resonance. It measures 14.375” Dia x 10”H plus a 0.5” rear cover plate that supports the internally mounted transformer. The backbox includes four combination 1/2" - 3/4" conduit knockouts, 8-32 screw retaining U-clips on the flange for grille installation, and Lowell's durable black powder epoxy finish. For installations in suspended tile ceilings, channel rails are required to transfer the assembly weight to the ceiling grid. Order Model SS24 (24"L) or SS30 (30"L) separately (see pg 4).

WB12-12P150 UL Listed 12”, 150W Speaker /Grille Assembly that is no more than 6dB down from the on-axis value averaged over the 2000 Hz octave band. Since speech intelligibility is very dependent upon the 2000 Hz octave, this specification is quite useful in designing paging systems that provide even coverage and intelligibility. Thiele-Small Parameters were measured with the LMS system using the delta mass method. These parameters are useful in determining the appropriate type and size of enclosure for a specific driver.
Scope of performance and power tests Lowell loudspeakers are thoroughly tested to provide specifiers and contractors with solid data that accurately reflects the performance of production drivers. Performance tests are conducted on randomly selected final production assemblies. Testing equipment includes the GoldLine TEF-20 analyzer and a LinearX LMS measurement system. The power handling capability is based on EIA Standard RS-426B. Frequency Response data is provided in two ways: Nominal - which is the generally usable response range and Limited Bandwidth - (defined by ± __dB) which is useful in predictive engineering calculations. Resonance frequency (Fs) is also provided in Thiele-Small parameters as the recommended limit from which to drive a speaker. Sensitivity (SPL) is presented two ways: Peak - used by many manufacturers (and presented here for comparison purposes) is a rating based on a narrow portion of the frequency response curve, and Average - which is a computer calculation of the octave-weighted average over the entire engineering bandwidth as shown in the frequency response (± __dB). Dispersion Angle is defined as the angle of coverage
110
In addition to the standard frequency response (on axis), impedance, and polar curves, off-axis frequency response and impulse curves are presented. Off-axis Response is another way of looking at the polar response of a speaker. It is especially useful in displaying the relative change in the sound of a speaker as one increasingly moves off-axis. Each curve is the average of response over a 15° range. Therefore, the 0° curve is the average of -5°, 0°, and +5°. The 15° curve is the average of -10°, -15°, -20°, +10°, +15°, and +20°. The final graph is an Impulse Curve which displays how well the electro-magnetic motor and the mechanical suspension work together to control the motion of the cone.
