3-on-3 BASKETBALL HANDOUT INTRAMURAL SPORTS
LEAGUES OFFERED:
Men’s Competitive, Men’s Recreational, Women’s
REGULAR SEASON:
The regular season will consist of 5 weeks for competitive leagues while recreational leagues will have 7 games in 6 weeks. Games will start every 50 minutes.

All games will be played on Southwest Recreation Center Courts 1&2. Participants looking to join a team are able to through two methods; joining through the IMLeagues website registering as a free agent or attending the Free Agent Meeting in the SWRC Arena Conference Room during the date listed on the website. The in person meeting in the SWRC Arena Conference Room will assist both those looking for a team as well as those looking to create a team. Matches will be the best 2 out of 3 games. A team wins by either scoring 15 points with a lead of two, or by being the first team to score 18 points. There will be a 15-minute time limit for each game. The clock will stop during the last 30 seconds only on all whistles and made baskets. The team ahead at the end of the 15 minutes will win that game. Roster: Teams may have as many players on their roster as they wish with no limit to the maximum number of players per contest.
MERCY RULE:
There is no mercy rule for 3-on-3 basketball.
OVERTIME:
If the teams are tied at the end of the 15 minutes in regular season, the next made basket wins the game. During the playoffs, the team must win by two points. A coin toss will determine possession for overtime.
TIMEOUTS:
Each team is entitled to one 30-second timeout per game.
FORFEITS:
GAME TIME IS FORFEIT TIME. Minimum of 2 players are needed to start and finish the game.

RULES REVIEW:
Teams must wear the same color shirt with a number at least three inches tall. No hats or bandannas may be worn by any player on the court. No jewelry (including rubber bands) may be worn. Medical Alert tags may be worn but must be taped down. BRING YOUR ALTERNATE WHITE JERSEYS TO EVERY GAME (if both teams do not have whites, it will be a double forfeit). All teams earning a .500 or better record and 4.0 sportsmanship average or higher will be automatically eligible for playoffs. Teams under .500 must email the league coordinator by 4:30pm one day after the last day of the regular season in order to participate in playoffs. The Playoff Selection Draft will be held online on IMLeagues.com. Please check the Playoff Information Sheet at recsports.ufl.edu for more information. Intramural Sports Championship T-shirts will be awarded to the winning team in the Men’s Competitive and Women’s leagues. A maximum of 5 shirts per team is permitted. NFHS Basketball Rules (5-on-5) govern all rules not covered in Intramural Sports rules (http://recsports.ufl.edu/images/uploads/docs/3-on-3_Basketball_Rules.pdf ) Field goals within 3-point line will count as one point; any shot beyond the 3-point line will count as two points. Every time the ball changes possession, it must be taken back anywhere behind the 3-point line. Defensive player must give offensive player checking in the ball at least three feet to pass the ball to a teammate. Time-outs may not be called my bench personnel, however may be called by a coach who has signed in with the Intramural Sports supervisor. Players foul out on their third personal foul per game. That player can then re-enter upon the next game. The clock will stop during the last 30 seconds of each game only on whistles and made baskets. Substitutions may be made after a made basket. For the first three (3) fouls, the ball will be taken back by the fouled team. Beginning with the fourth team foul, (if shooting), the player fouled will be awarded one free throw worth one point for all shots inside the 3-point line, or they will be awarded one free throw worth two points if the player shot behind the 3-point line. If the foul was not a shooting foul, the player fouled will be awarded one free throw. After the free throw(s) the ball will be awarded to the non-shooting team, regardless if the free throw(s) was made or not. On the seventh team foul: -No basket: the player fouled will be awarded one free throw worth one point (or one free throw worth two points) if shooting behind the 3-point line) and the shooting team will retain possession, regardless if the free throw is made or not. -Made basket: the basketball will count, there will be no subsequent free throws, and the shooting team will retain possession, During free throws, the shooter has 5 seconds to release the ball. Failure to do so results in a violation and loss of the right to shoot that free throw.

Register your IMLeagues Account a. Go to https://www.recsports.ufl.edu. b. Under the Intramural Sports tab, click on IMLeagues. c. Sign on using your Gatorlink username and password. d. Complete the required information and click Sign In. e. Click the University of Florida link at the top of the page.

Signing Up A Team For An Intramural Sport a. Log in to your IMLeagues account using your Gatorlink username and password. b. Click the Create Team button at the top right under Player Signup OR click on the University of Florida link and go to the school’s homepage on IMLeagues. c. Select 3-on-3 Basketball and the League and Division you wish to play in (if registration has not opened yet, you may organize your team in the Waitlist. Once registration opens you must log in and move your team from the Waitlist to desired Division). d. Click Create Team. e. View the “Captain’s Training Video” embedded via YouTube and review 3-on-3 Basketball Sport Rules. f. Complete the “3-on-3 Basketball Captain’s Quiz”. i. You must obtain an 80% or higher on this quiz to be eligible to register. An unlimited number of attempts are allowed. g. Once you pass, enter all necessary information and click Submit. h. If registration has not opened and your team has been added to the waitlist, once league registration opens you must move your team to desired Division. i. Log in to your IMLeagues.com account. ii. Select your 3-on-3 Basketball team from the “Teams” section on your homepage. iii. A red banner will appear at the top of the next screen prompting you to “click here” to view open spots in Divisions. iv. Review open Divisions and select “Move to Division”.

Joining An Intramural Sports Team a. Create a Team (for team captains only) i. Invite members to the team If team member has already registered on IMLeagues, search for his/her name and invite him/her, all invited members must accept the invitation to be added to your team If team member is not registered on IMLeagues, scroll down to the “Invite by Email Address” box an input his/her email address. b. Join a Team i. Click the orange Join Team icon button at the top of your homepage. ii. Select 3-on-3 Basketball and the League and Division which your desired team is registered. iii. A list of teams playing in that division will load, select the team you wish you join by clicking the orange Join Team icon. iv. Agree to the waiver and fill in all necessary information. v. A message will be sent to the captain of the team you asked to join, once the captain has given approval you will be added to the roster.
REGISTRATION PROCESS:
You may organize your team early on the Waitlist (training, quiz and adding team members). However, once registration opens you MUST move your team from the Waitlist to desired Division; otherwise your team will remain on the waitlist and not be scheduled for play.
