OEH PhD StV 3D Printer quick manual 3D Printer Manual The OEH PhD Studentsrepresentation purchased a FELIX 3.0 three dimensional printer which can be used by every PhD Student, who is enrolled at the university. 3D printing is the process for creating a three-dimensional object from a computer designed file. By an additive process successive layers of plastic (the same material as LEGO) are laid down under computer control. For PhD students in life science this is the perfect tools to print your objects such as bones and joints or protein structures. The plastic is highly heat and chemical resistant and can also be used to create cell culture dishes or objects where cells can grow on. If you are interested in getting your ideas 3D printed just design your objects in any CAD software, widely available as freeware online (e.g. www.freeCADweb.org). When your design is finished just send the data to [email protected]. It will be printed within a week for the cost of about 20€. Installing Software for your LapTop: Install www.freeCADweb or similar CAD drawing programs to design an object Install Repetier Host http://shop.felixprinters.com/downloads/index.php?path=software/ Find Manuals provided by the company http://shop.felixprinters.com/downloads/index.php?path=instruction+manuals/ Connect Latop to Printer by following steps from the manual http://shop.felixprinters.com/downloads/instruction%20manuals/20140821%20%20User%20Manual_FELIX_3_0_V10.pdf 1 OEH PhD StV 3D Printer quick manual 2 OEH PhD StV 3D Printer quick manual Prepare CAD File for printing in freeCAD (german version): Alle einzelformen in ein Projekt zusammenführen: Boolsche Operation Netze – Erzeuge Netz aus Geometrie – Netz exportieren in STL 3 OEH PhD StV 3D Printer quick manual 4 OEH PhD StV 3D Printer quick manual 5 OEH PhD StV 3D Printer quick manual Recommended settings for printing: Absolutley no air flow in the room!
