You can also refer to the video clip on Youtube (click here). IP Sidekick, a brand new utility tool is designed to assist installers with IP camera installation. It is a battery powered Wi-Fi access point with a 30 watt PoE port. After mounting the camera, the installers can power it up using the IP Sidekick and a tablet/smart phone to test/view the camera and make adjustments right at the camera. It works with any manufacturers who offer an App that connects directly to their cameras. For cameras without App provided, you can also access the camera live view through Web browsers. Everfocus IP Sidekick can be applied to: All EverFocus IP cameras (EF Sidekick App provided) All brands of IP cameras with their own App provided* * For IP cameras without App provided, camera live view can be accessed through Web browsers. Notice The Sidekick Router is built-in with a DHCP server. If you are using a DHCP configured IP camera, you can simply connect your IP camera to IP Sidekick without any configurations. For IP cameras with Static IP configured, you will have to set up a static IP for your smart phone in order to connect your smart phone and the IP camera on the same wireless network. 1 DHCP IP Camera Users Please follow the instructions below to access camera live view through IP Sidekick. To connect and power-up your IP camera through IP Sidekick: 1. Turn on the Power Switch of IP Sidekick. The Power Indicators will light in blue to indicate the power capacity of the IP Sidekick. 2. Connect the PoE cable of your IP camera to the PoE/Ethernet port on IP Sidekick. Note: If you are using a DC-powered IP camera, connect the power cable of your IP camera to the DC Output on IP Sidekick and then connect the Network cable of your IP camera to the PoE/Ethernet port on IP Sidekick. 2 To access live view of your IP camera through IP Sidekick: 1. Turn on Wi-Fi of your smart phone and then tap EverFocus_Sidekick to connect to the Wi-Fi network of Sidekick. For iOS device For Android device 2. Access the camera live view. For IP cameras with App provided: a. Install the App of your IP camera into your smart phone. b. Run the App of your IP camera to get IP camera live view. For IP cameras without App provided: a. Open a Web browser and enter the IP address of your IP camera in the address field. b. Enter the ID and Password of your IP camera to access the camera live view. 3 You can optionally use EF Sidekick App to get the IP address of your IP cameras (only available for Android version at present). To install EF Sidekick, go to Android Market and search EF Sidekick. Launch EF Sidekick , enter the password: 11111111 and then tap Connect to enter the main page (the default ID / Password is user1 / 11111111). Tap Client Device Info on the main page, and you can see the connected IP devices, including your IP camera. Client Device Info 4 Static IP Camera Users Please follow the instructions below to access camera live view through IP Sidekick. To connect and power-up your IP camera through IP Sidekick: 1. Set up a static IP for your smart phone in order to connect your smart phone and the IP camera on the same wireless network. For iOS users: a. Go to Setting > Wi-Fi. b. Tap Static to set up a static IP address. c. Tap Wi-Fi to save the settings. Keep the first 3 numbers of the IP address the same with those of your IP camera. For example, if the static IP of your IP camera is 192.168.0.90, set up the static IP of your smart phone to 192.168.0.xxx You should only change the last number “xxx”. Make sure the address you pick is not currently in use by other devices on the WiFi network. Otherwise, it will cause a conflict. 6 For Android users: a. Go to Setting > Wi-Fi. b. Tap and hold the EverFocus_Sidekick Wi-Fi network and then tap Modify Network. c. Check Show advanced options, select Static from the IP settings drop-down list and then set up a static IP address. Keep the first 3 numbers of the IP address the same with those of your IP camera. For example, if the static IP of your IP camera is 192.168.0.90, set up the static IP of your smart phone to 192.168.0.xxx You should only change the last number “xxx”.
