MPO Cable Assembly Configure to Order Model
Scope: This specification defines the cable assemblies that can be created by the MP catalog configuration scheme for the creation of 12 fiber ferrule based MPO cable assemblies from 12 to 144 fibers total. All assemblies are designed to the requirements of TIA 568-C.3.
Figure 1: 12 fiber MPO to MPO assembly on 3mm interconnect cable.
Figure 2: MPO to MPO assembly on 24 fiber 3mm interconnect zipcord cable (12 fibers per leg).
Figure 3: 12 fiber MPO to MPO assembly on 12 fiber backbone cable with 1x12 fiber 3mm interconnect subunit.
Figure 4: MPO to LC, SC, ST, FC, or MT-RJ. Fiber counts from 12 to 144 fibers.
Packaging: All assemblies will come with protective covers over the MPO connectors. Assemblies made with backbone cable will come with a pulling sock over the left side MPO connector(s) and a protective cover over the right side connectors. The pulling sock will cover the entire breakout area up to the larger diameter backbone cable. The pulling sock diameter for assemblies with up to 6 MPO connectors is 1.125 inch (28.5mm), 8 or 12 MPO assembly pulling socks increase to 1.25 inch (38mm). 12 fiber interconnect assemblies up to 30 meters in length will come in a bag. 24 fiber interconnect zipcord assemblies up to 10 meters in length will come in a bag. All other assemblies will come on a reel.

Choose the breakout length for each end. An entry of BF will result in 13.75 inches on the left and 25 inches on the right. The breakout length is defined from the end of the heat shrink transition to the tip of the connector ferrule as shown. The 7” section of exposed subunit shown here will exist on assemblies with any connector other than MPOs selected for connector B, and is non-configurable. Each pair of subunits beyond the first two will be 2 inches longer on each end of the assembly, as shown above.
