Filter Replacement Kit for the 4300 Remote BAC Feature Number 4300-F1-501 Installation Instructions Document Number 4300-A2-GZ45-00 July 2004 About This Document The Filter Replacement Kit is for field replacement of the factory installed cabinet filters in the 4300 Remote Broadband Access Concentrator (BAC). The kit includes four input filters and one exhaust filter. The input filters are located in the door and the exhaust filter is located in the roof of the cabinet immediately above the fan. Inspecting Shipment On receipt of the equipment: - Inspect the shipping container(s) and note any signs of damage. Then unpack the container(s) and carefully inspect for damage to the contents. If the equipment has been damaged in transit, immediately report the extent of damage to the transportation company and your sales representative. Order replacement equipment, if necessary. - Check the packing list to ensure complete and accurate shipment of all listed items. If the shipment is short or irregular, contact your sales representative. If the equipment must be stored for a prolonged period, do so in the equipment's original container. If equipment ever needs to be returned, please use the original packaging if available. 4300-A2-GZ40-00 July 2004 1 Filter Replacement Kit for the 4300 Remote BAC Installation Instructions Filter Replacement Figure A – Filter Replacement Diagram The 4300 Remote BAC is equipped with four foam filters in the door to prevent dust and debris from penetrating the cabinet while allowing the fan system sufficient airflow to maintain the temperature requirements for the installed equipment. An exhaust filter is contained under the roof of the cabinet to prevent dust and debris from entering the cabinet while the fan is not running. 2 July 2004 4300-A2-GZ45-00 Filter Replacement Kit for the 4300 Remote BAC Installation Instructions Inlet Filter Replacement Procedure 1. Open the cabinet door. 2. Remove the filter retaining screws from the bottom of the filter frame. 3. Slide the old filters down to the bottom of the door. 4. Remove and discard the old filter. 5. Slide the new filters up into the filter brackets. 6. Replace the filter retaining screw. Exhaust Filter Replacement Procedure 1. Open the cabinet door. 2. Remove the two bolts from the inside front of the ceiling of the cabinet. 3. Remove the roof by sliding it to the left approximately 3/4-inch and lifting off. 4. Carefully set the roof to the side of the cabinet. 5. Remove the screws from the fan filter hold-down brackets located on the top of the cabinet body. 6. Lift the filter out of the filter cavity exposing the topside of the fan. 7. Dispose of the old filter. 8. Replace the exhaust filter into the fan filter cavity. 9. Install the fan filter support brackets and replace the bolts holding the brackets in place. 10. Replace the roof aligning the studs in the back of the cabinet and sliding it to the left until the sides are flush with the cabinet. 11. Install the roof bolts from inside the cabinet and tighten to 30 inch-pounds.
