High Performance Live Video Processing Envivio 4Caster G4 is the newest platform that runs Envivio Muse software, the superior encoding/ transcoding solution for producing live video applications in any format and resolution, as well as advanced services such as advertisement insertion and content protection for new media devices. For traditional cable and DTH broadcast TV services, operators can deploy IP statistical multiplexing for MPEG-2 or AVC channels. Muse in the 4Caster G4 platform delivers impressive images to all screens from a single platform, eliminating the need for separate head-ends. The flexible hardware architecture of 4Caster G4 makes upgrades and reconfiguration of the system simple, while lowering the operational costs.
Premium quality, enhanced experience The Extreme™ and Premium™ H.264 codecs developed by Envivio have been tailored to provide the highest quality video on each device, from 1080p HD to mobile resolutions for smartphones. The Envivio Foresight™ algorithm improves quality and compression efficiency by analyzing the structure and complexity of H.264 video inputs to optimize transcoding. Monitoring of ingest and output streams provides an objective video quality score for all resolutions and bit rates without the need for third-party equipment. Muse in the 4Caster G4 enables rich end-user experiences with support for picture-in-picture, alternative audio languages, closed captions, DVB-Subtitles and DVB-Teletext. These functionalities are available not only for broadcast TV services, but for any device service supporting the related metadata.

Muse handles all of the appropriate metadata for the enhanced functionalities for all screens for live and offline workflows - metadata like subtitles, thumbnails, I-frame playlists, logo insertions in addition to advanced functions like alternative audio languages per video stream, multi bitrates, encryption, and more. The higher system density made possible by reusing the same encoding for multiple output formats reduces operating cost per channel.
