General Description The 4U - Series 1 is one of a family of 4U rack mountable systems ranging from sub-486 class processors through dual, Quad Core™ Xeons.™ The 4U - Series 1 specifically addresses the need for lower performance or cost sensitive system needs for legacy systems without sacrificing quality, longevity and/or reliability. ISA as well as PCI configurations are supported. The 4U - Series 1 standard models support PICMG 1.0 or ISA only Single Board Computers (SBC’s) with processor speeds from 25 MHz to 1.3GHz. With this range of processors, many applicationsrequiring legacy or real time operating systems can be built, maintained and upgraded well beyond their natural life expectancy. The 4U - Series 1 chassis is designed with maximum flexibility and ruggedness in mind with configurations ranging from 3 – 14 slot passive backplanes and power supplies ranging from 150 watts to 600+ watts. Peripherals include, but are not limited to: hard drive(s), floppies, DVD/CD-RW, tape, and Solid State Disks in various combinations. The standard box cooling incorporates up to 3 ball bearing fans with a removable, washable filter. Access to peripheralsand controls can be restricted (key lock.) A unique feature, the infinitely adjustable P-Clamp™ card retainer is available for every card location. EMI shielding, acoustic shock mounting, dichromate plating and optional slide rails add the final touches.
