General Description The 4U - Series 2 is one of a family of 4U rack mountable systems ranging from sub-486 class processors through dual, Quad Core Xeons™. The 4U - Series 2 specifically addresses the need for the higher performances required bytoday’s applications and operating systems. As with all TA² systems, quality, longevity and reliability considerations are of primary importance. The 4U - Series 2 will support legacy ISA as well as multiple PCI configurations. The 4U - Series 2 standard models support PICMG, 1.0 Socket 775, SingleBoard Computers (SBC’s) with speeds ranging from 1.7Ghz to 3.6GHz. Hyperthreading (HT) is supported on many models. Memory can range from 128MB to 4GB. All popular operating systems are supported including Real-time and Embedded systems. The 4U - Series 2 chassis is designed with maximum flexibility and ruggedness in mind with configurations ranging from 3 – 14 slot passive backplanes and power supplies ranging from 250 watts to 800+ watts. Peripherals include, but are not limited to: hard drive(s), floppies, DVD/CD-RW, tape, and SSD(Solid State Disks) in various combinations. The standard box cooling incorporates up to 3 ball bearing fans with a removable, washable filter. Access to peripheralsand controls can be restricted (key lock.) A unique feature, the infinitely adjustable P-Clamp™ card retainer is available for every card location. EMI shielding, acoustic shock mounting, dichromate plating and optional slide rails add the final touches. Because of its excellent price / performance ratio, flexibility and reliability, the 4U - Series 2 is currently TA²’s most popular Industrial system.
