Extremely versatile, it’s perfect for exercise with acute post-operative, neurologic, pediatric, cardiopulmonary, respiratory, orthopedic/sports medicine and older adult patients in need of strengthening and aerobic conditioning. Heart Rate Monitoring using telemetry or contact feature to accommodate unweighing harnesses Safety Lanyard when disengaged, belt movement stops immediately Starting Speed - always starts at 0 mph with 0.1 mph speed increments NEW Open Platform offers unobstructed use with unweighing systems Elevation: 0-15% grade or -3 to 12% grade Reverse Belt Direction from 0–3 mph The RTM600 features a large, high resolution color touch-screen LCD display. The RTM400 is offered with a numeric LED display. Low Profile – 7" step-up height provides easy patient transfer A Sample of the NEW touch-screen displays on the RTM600 D Optional Pediatric/Geriatric Handrails Optional Extended Handrails The new LCD touch-screen display allows for easy selection of modes of operation: Quick-Start, Manual Start and Profiles. Quick-Start gets you up and going fast with .25 mile scaled track views. APPLICATIONS: Orthopedic, Sports Medicine and Athletic Training Exercise: • Use uphill or downhill walking and jogging to emphasize specific muscle groups or motions. Use Retro-Walking to promote the use of reciprocal muscle groups not normally exercised during forward walking alone. Cardiopulmonary Exercise: • Monitor heart rate by Polar® Telemetry or contact heart rate in hand grips. MET level displayed for easy compliance to patient exercise prescriptions. Belt speeds as low as 0.1 mph to accommodate even the most deconditioned cardiopulmonary patient. Older Adult Exercise: • With the RTM’s zero starting speed for maximum safety there’s no need for patients to straddle the bed. Simulate uphill and downhill ramp walking. Retro-Walk to reduce flexion contractures with total knee and total hip replacements. Retro-Walk is also great for promoting dorsiflexion. Choose the RTM’s optional dual height Geriatric/Pediatric Handrails. Shown with Biodex Unweighing System Exact-Track belt eliminates belt shift and tracking problems Weight-Loss Exercise: • The Biodex RTM Treadmill is ideal for weight-loss programs. With sturdy handrails, zero starting speed and an ability to hold speed at any incline, it is an especially smart choice for bariatric patients. Pediatric Exercise: • The RTM’s zero starting speed and small, precise speed increments make this treadmill ideal for use with children too small to straddle a belt. Optional RTM dual height Geriatric/Pediatric Handrails 24" h and 36" h (61 and 91.5 cm) are comfortably positioned for children and small adults. Display tilts to ensure easy viewing. D RTM600 shown Neurorehabilitation Exercise: • Treadmills have long been used in therapy and conditioning to encourage patient compliance. Now, the RTM’s zero starting speed, 1/10 mph speed increments and specially configured handrails permit the neurologically impaired to safely benefit. Like endless parallel bars, when combined with the Biodex Unweighing System, the RTM provides neurological patients with a safe environment to re-establish functional ambulation while allowing the clinician to remain stationary beside the treadmill for easier patient observation. Precise Speed and Control “In our case, the Biodex RTM Treadmill has been a great asset. We deal exclusively with the elderly here and some of our patients have had heart trouble for twenty or thirty years - deteriorating to the point where they are severely disabled when we first get to work with them. With the help of the RTM Treadmill, however, we can dramatically improve the strength and endurance of patients even 90 years of age and older! Steven Whitman, Director of Rehabilitation, Sephardic Home for the Aged, Brooklyn, NY Zero Starting Speed “I’m very happy with our two RTM Treadmills, in fact, I wish I had more here. They are smooth running, easy to operate and safe to use. My patients find the RTM easy to figure out and control. The staff finds it perfect for use with those patients whose work rate requires careful monitoring. On other treadmills you have to stand on the side, set the speed and then hop on a moving belt. With the RTM we can position the patient, set the speed and allow the treadmill to gradually ramp up to the exercise speed desired. It’s a really good safety feature. Cherie Mayerik, RN, United Samaritans Medical Center, Danville, IL Safe… Quiet and Easy to Use “We love it and our patients love it — because this treadmill is so easy to use. It only takes a second or two to show someone how to turn it on and adjust the speed. As opposed to other treadmills, it sits very low to the floor… that’s a big hit with older patients, especially. One other feature everyone seems to like is the handrail positioning. The fact that the optional handrails extend all the way to the back of the treadmill really helps put both clinician and patient at ease.” Joseph Alzerez, Exercise Tech. The Biodex Rehabilitation Treadmill with Numeric Display provides easy-to-use controls. • LED Display • Simple to use, easy to read • METs, calories, distance, and time values • Select speed, elevation and belt direction • Set end time for exercise duration 950-277 Treadmill, RTM400, 100 VAC (non CE) 950-275 Treadmill, RTM400, 115 VAC (non CE) 950-276 Treadmill, RTM400, 230 VAC (non CE) Appropriate local plug must be supplied by dealer. Optional: 950-288 Extended Handrails 950-287 Geriatric/Pediatric Handrails Consistent and Quiet “Our RTM Treadmills are key when it comes to providing pulmonary patients with the cardiovascular workouts they require. With a zero starting speed and the ability to change speed in 1/10 mph increments, they are just what the doctor ordered. Our patients vary widely in the severity of their disease process but the RTM can accommodate them all. We have patients right now working as slow as .6 mph and others working out as fast as 3.4 mph. For our most severe cases, the zero starting speed is a real plus. Currently, we use our six RTM’s a total of three days per week and we’re planning on going to a five day per week schedule. We’ve had our systems for a year now without any mechanical problems whatsoever. The treadmills are easy for our patients to figure out and operate. They are also extremely safe to use. In addition to the zero starting speed, safety features include a patient safety lanyard that ensures the treadmill will automatically stop should the patient slip or suddenly fall off pace, and optional full-length handrails that seem to be perfectly positioned for most patients. We basically get our patients up and running the first time and after that they can manage on their own.
