INSTALLING UNIVERSAL 32 GALLON PLASTIC FUEL TANK 1. Open the 8X10 ply bag of parts, it should contain the following parts: Description QTY a. Eye Bolts 3/8”-16 1”I.D. 4 b. Flange Nut 3/8”-16 4 c. Fuel line 3/8” I.D. 6’ d. Check Valve 3/8” X 3/8” hose barb 1 e. Hose Clamps 3/8” X 1/4” 6 f. Bolt 1/2”-13 X 1-1/2” Bolts 8 g. 1/2” – 13 Nylock Nuts 8 h Flat Washer 1/2” X .88 16 J Hose Fitting for Tank 2 2. Position the fuel tank next to the engine generator set. See the diagram for proper positioning, the engine end and the generator end cannot be reversed. 3. Make sure that the fuel connection point on the fuel tank are locate on the same side of the engine as the fuel connection points on the engine. This tank can be reversed in the frame if necessary. To do this, remove the bolted end caps and the fuel cap and gauge. The tank can then be pulled out and reversed. After insuring the tank is positioned correctly, install the fuel hose fittings in the tank and tighten. 4. Install the one Eye Bolts in each corner and secure them in place using the 3/8 in flange nuts provided. Be sure to tighten securely as these will be used as lifting points. 5. Next you need to insure that both the generator cross member and the engine cross member are in the right location. See illustration #2, normally the cross member are shipped Illustration #2 in the proper location for the DE45 and the DE65. For the DE45 &65 the cross members should be bolted into the holes marked “A”. If you are mounting a DE30 the cross member must be secured using the holes mark “C”. Finally if you are mounting a DE20 on the tank assembly you will use the holes marked “B”. If it is not in the proper location move the cross member before proceeding. 6. Lift the engine generator set up and position the base under it and slowly lower the unit onto the base. Note on illustration #3 the unit will line up with different holes in fuel tank support fame. The holes marked “A” are for the DE45 and the DE65. The holes marked “B” are for the DE30 and the holes marked “C” are for the DE20. Failure to use the proper holes will cause the unit to sit improperly and not bolt down in all 8 locations. This is easiest to accomplish by putting the 8 bolts (½ –13 X1 ½”) in the mounting holes on the generator frame rails and slowly lowering them into position on the cross member. There are 16 - ½ inch flat washers provided be sure to use one each top and bottom. Secure the engine generator to the fuel tank assembly using the eight ½ –13 Nylock nuts. 6. The last thing to assemble will be the fuel lines between the tank and the engine. See the generator operator’s manual for the fuel line attachment points. a. Cut a one foot section of line off and install on the supply fitting on the fuel tank and secure in place using one of the hose clamps. b. On the other end of this section of fuel line install the check valve with arrow pointed toward the engine and secure in place using one of the hose clamps. c. Attach the hose to other side of the check valve Illustration#3 and secure with a hose clamp. d. Route the hose up to the fuel inlet on the engine and cut to length. Secure it in place using one of the hose clamps. e. Attach the remaining hose to the fuel return outlet and the engine and secure in place with a hose clamp. f. Route the fuel hose down to the return outlet on the tank. Cut to length and secure in place using the last hose clamp. DE30 MOUNTED ON TANK 225 S.
