Employee Owned Introduction: The Semtronics 62532 Ethernet adapter provides an easy and effective means of retrieving data from Semtronic’s 62580 and 62581 Smartlog X3 from anywhere within the LAN or from any location in the world. By using the Semtronics 62532, the Smartlog X3 can be mounted anywhere in the facility without the use of a dictated PC where a network port is accessible. Specifications: • • • • Dimension: 6.4cm x 9.0cm x 2.3cm, 2.5”W x 3.5”D x 0.9”H Weight 0.8 lbs Universal powers supply with interchangeable outlet adapter. Input 110-230 VAC 50/60Hz. Output 12VDC/0.8A. 2.5mm female power jack, center positive. Any alternate transformer must comply with the Safety Extra Lox Voltage (SELV) insulation requirements. Important: This appliance has a metal casing and is considered to be class I and tested as class II. The power supply connection plug is accessible to the user and this no safety insulation inside the 62532. Therefore the insulation of the power supply is critical. Hardware Setup 1. Insert DB25 serial adapter to female DCE DB25 serial port of the 62532 Ethernet adapter. 2. Connect cable from RJ11 jack of serial adapter to RS-485 port (left RJ11 port) of Smartlog X3 (Refer to Figure 4). Connect to RS-232 port on RS-232 connector (figure 3) only if labeled RS-232. Before mounting 62532, MAC address located on back side needs to be noted for proper programming of Ethernet adapter. B. Assigning IP Address 1. Connect the 62532 to an Ethernet port within the LAN connection. 2. Power the unit on, the green LINK LED should be on, the red DIAGNOSTIC LED should be flashing then off when the green STATUS LED comes on. The orange NET Tx\Rx should be flashing. 3. On the same LAN connection, you’re going to need a PC to set and program the 62532. Go to your Start icon in Taskbar of Windows®. Go to Run and type in CMD and hit enter. This should take you to the Command Prompt. Type in CD\ and hit enter to get to the root directory. (Figure 5). Figure 5 4. Type: arp –s and hit enter. The IP address needs to be assigned by IT. Let’s use 192.168.10.13 as an example IP address. Type in telnet 192.168.10.13 1 and hit enter, make sure you type in 1 for the port. It will display “Could not open connection to host, or port 1: connection fail”. 6. Then Type in telnet 192.168.10.13 9999 and hit enter, you should now have connection to the host, hit enter again to go into setup mode. (Figure 7) Figure 7. 7. Enter 0 and Hit Enter for Server Configuration. a. Assign IP Address: It will ask you to assign an IP address for the unit. Have this IP address written down, you’re going to reference this IP address later on. b. Gate Address: Enter the Gate address If applicable. Enter N and hit enter if you are going to use the 62532 on the same LAN as the PC used to poll the data. Employee Owned enter Y and enter the Gateway IP address, your IT department can supply you with the appropriate Gateway IP address. c. Netmask: Number of bits for host 11. Netmask defines the number of bits taken from the IP address that are assigned for the host sections. d. Change telnet configuration password: Enter N for no. Enter Y for yes, then type in a 4-digit password. Changes can only be made to the 50460 with a password if password is set to Yes. 8. (Figure 10). 9. Verify the IP address: • • • Go to the DOS prompt. Type: ping . If there is a reply, then the IP address has been assigned successfully. If there is no response, please go back to A. C. Redirector Software Setup Comport redirector will need to be downloaded from Lantronix ®. Go to www.lantronix.com and downloads. Then scroll down to Software/Configuration Utilities, you should see Com Port Redirector, click on the lastest version and start downloading. Save it in your Smartlog™ Folder. Once you are done downloading, Windows will ask you if you want to install it, click yes. Once Installation is completed, open your Lantronix ® Com port Redirector. The software will default one open com port to be use, usually it’s com 3 if your PC system isn’t using com 3. 2. Click on Add IP • Enter the IP address that was assigned to the Ethernet adapter 62532 in the box Host. • Subtract 11000 from Port No. to get TCP Port, refer to 8. Enter 1 for Channel 1 Configuration. d. Usually TCP Port 3001 • Click Ok, save and eixt. 3. Open the software you are currently using or Smartlog 6.03 and configure your comport in the software to match the comport of the Lantronix Redirector software. Within the warranty period, a unit will be tested, repaired, or replaced at our option, free of charge. Include a copy of your original packing slip, invoice, or other proof of date of purchase. Any unit under warranty should be shipped prepaid to the Semtronics factory. Warranty replacements will take approximately two weeks. If your unit is out of warranty, Semtronics will quote repair charges necessary to bring your unit up to factory standards. Call Customer Service at 909-627-8178 for proper shipping instructions and address. Ship your unit freight prepaid. WARRANTY EXCLUSIONS THE FOREGOING EXPRESS WARRANTY IS MADE IN LIEU OF ALL OTHER PRODUCT WARRANTIES, EXPRESSED AND IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE WHICH ARE SPECIFICALLY DISCLAIMED.
