WHAT IS AN ACCESS CONTROL SYSTEM? ONLY AUTHORISED PERSONNEL There are certain parts of a building, a residential complex or a company where it is necessary to restrict access to the public for security reasons, only allowing access to those who are authorised. To offer the simplest and most effective form of control, Fermax has a complete access control range of products. It is about providing products to the most diverse range of projects, from the simplest to the most complex, with systems that are adapted to all budgets.
COMPONENTS
All access control systems are distinguished by the following elements:
READER. It is the responsible for reading the identifier of the user. Subject to the technology employed: proximity, fingerprint, radiofrequency, keypad, hands-free.
POWER SUPPLY. Allows for the system to function with voltage security. Employing an emergency power supply is recommended to guarantee 24 hour operation.
CONTROLLER. Stores a list of users and their access rights. Upon receiving the code of the identifier, which is transferred through the reader, it decides whether it will grant or deny access.
LOCK RELEASE. The door is locked in order to block access to unauthorised personnel. It will be unlocked when the controller authorises access.
IDENTIFIER. User credentials. In high security systems, each identifier has an exclusive code for each user. This allows for disabling a user in case of loss or theft of their identifier, without having to change the keyrings of all other users.
DOOR SENSOR. Allows for control of the door to ensure it does not remain open for longer than desired, in which instance an alarm will sound. We dispose of magnetic sensors and integrated sensors in the electric locks themselves with reference to CTC.
EXIT PUSHBUTTON. Permits temporary unlocking of the door (in order to exit to a safe area) in an unimpeded manner.

Distributed Installations with various access points which are not connected to each other. They are all managed from the same control point and do not require any type of remote connectivity due to the smart identifier. Permits user passes, expiration date, etc.

Centralised Installations with various access points which require a RS-485 or IP connection between them and the PC. With advanced functions such as activity/event logs in real time and offline, timekeeping control, pedestrian-vehicular anti-passback, etc.

The most simple and practical way to manage a single door. A device that can be installed both in the interior and exterior. It can be integrated in door entry panels to enable the neighbours to access it without keys.

Fingerprint
The user should enter a code on the keypad. It is the most economical model as it does not use identifiers. The same code can be used by various users.
Biometric fingerprint access reader with capacitive sensor. Identifies the user through their fingerprint (a characteristic unique and exclusive to each person), which provides a level of security higher than in any other system which uses another type of identifier.
Proximity
Radiofrequency and hands-free
The identifier is a card (similar to a credit card) or a proximity keyring. The identifier is swiped by the reader at a distance of several centimetres. The reading is facilitated by means of radio frequency data transmission.
This technology is mainly used in garage accesses given the flexibility allowed by the large distance between the identifier (remote control) and the receiver. What is more, adding the corresponding antenna also allows for hands-free entry, both in pedestrian and vehicular access points.

Recommended for interior doors. The electric lock is connected directly to the reader.

Code

Card

Stand-alone Access Control

This technology is mainly used in garage accesses given the flexibility allowed by the large distance between the identifier (control) and the receiver. Also allows you to add a “hands-free” function, to facilitate access without having to take any action.
ADVANTAGES This access control system allows for the opening of doors
PROGRAMMING
and barriers, at a distance from people or vehicles through a RF radiofrequency transmitter or a hands-free identifier in HANDS-FREE mode. With a single transmitter you can manage as many doors as you like, as well as doors, garages single-family homes and in neighbourhood communities. The RF transmitter features an encryption system and changeable code which grants maximum security for the user and reaches a distance of up to 100 metres. What is more, it also comes with an exclusive APS system which allows for automatic activation from a greater distance, as, upon activating the transmitter, the signal continues to emit for 15s until it is received by the receptor. The transmitter can be activated even when it is out of range and it will continue transmitting the signal as the user approaches the door of the garage, until the moment the door is closed.

AxesKey ACCESS CONTROL SYSTEM
The RF technology is integrated as standard on all drivers (up to 100 m range with 868 Mhz technology). You can combine 13.56MHz AXESKEY proximity cards and hands-free long range identifiers for 30 vehicular and pedestrian access.
The AXESKEY access control is the perfect combination of intelligence and control enabling you to manage, from the same point, multiple doors that are not interconnected, though the UserPlus Programming Kit (ref. 5258). This form of distributed intelligence allows each door to work independent of the rest, even in case of sabotage to any of them. Of course, each driver recognises their users and allows access if it has the relevant authorisation. This system is recommended in medium size projects in which multiple drivers are needed in different locations (up to 32 accesses and 1,000 users). The management is done from a practical and intuitive software: UserPlus programming kit. The program has the advantage of allowing you to make changes to the permissions (adding and deleting) without remote connectivity or reconfigurating the installation.

Proximity
This technology is mainly used in garage accesses given the flexibility allowed by the large distance between the identifier (control) and the receiver. As standard in all controllers.
The identifier is a card (similar to a credit card) or a proximity keyring. The identifier is swiped by the reader at a distance of several centimetres. Hands-free systems for vehicles and individuals, which open all doors from 1.5, 3 or 5 metres. Upon entering the area of a hands-free HF trigger antenna with an identifier, it will be activated by sending a radio signal which can reach 100 metres in an open space. Its installation is very simple as it does not require wiring due to its operation via radio signals and the transmission distance of the antennas ranging from 0,5 to 5 metres, subject to the model. HF antennas are completely independent from the receiver and only requires a power supply to function. When the identifier is within the sufficient distance from the antenna, 1,5, 3 or 5 metres subject to the model, this will activate and send out a signal to the receiver at a distance of 100m. The antennas should be configured to indicate which relay we would like to be activate. ACCESSORIES Power Supply and cables When it comes to choosing a suitable power supply, it is important to bear in mind the consumption of all the elements of the system, specially the electric locks power supply. Employing a magneto-thermal switch which is not shared with any other device is recommended, to avoid the disconnection of the power supply generated. It is recommended to employ an emergency power supply system (with a battery) to avoid the locking or unlocking or doors in case of a cut of the electricity supply. In centralised systems that cover large distances, it is necessary to install supplementary power supply in the access points themselves in order to avoid voltage drops in the cabling.

Lock Releases This device allows for temporary unlocking of the door under safe conditions: accepted identifier or the door being opened form the interior through an exit pushbutton. There are various models: DEPENDING ON THE TYPE OF PROTECTION AGAINST POWER FAILURES: - Normal operation (fail secure). The door is unlocked when the lock release is powered. The advantage here is that if there is a power failure, the door will not be unlocked. The NO terminal (normally open) is connected to the lock release relay. - Inverted operation (fail safe). The door remains locked whilst the lock release is powered. The power supply will be interrupted if the door is unlocked. The advantage here is that if there is a power failure, the door will not be locked (fire systems). DEPENDING ON THE TYPE OF INSTALLATION: - Electric lock release. Recommended for facilities looking to combine this system with traditional locks. They are normally installed to fit into the doorframe. When activated, it will release the latch in a way that allows for the opening of the door. - Electromagnetic lock release. Usually it is installed when safety precautions against fires are required: doors which open outward, cut of power supply during a fire alarm in order to facilitate evacuation. This is an inverse type of operation. An iron bar is placed on the door leaf and an electromagnet in the frame in a way that when the door is closed, they are face to face. The door remains closed while the electromagnet attracts the bar. Depending on the force of the attraction, it can resist attempts at pulling or pushing the door open. Normally the force is measured in Kg. Can be mounted onto the wall through the use of special brackets. DEPENDING ON THE TYPE OF POWER SUPPLY: - Continuous current power supply. Characterised by its silent operation. This is the option that should be employed for an electric lock with inverted operation. - Alternating current power supply. Noisy compared to a continuous current. It has a generally higher consumption and works better in doors subject to some sort of pressure: wind, bar abrasion, etc. OTHERS: - Some lock releases models come with an integrated door sensor, to detect if the door is accidentally left open.
