Since the antenna will (in most cases) mounted on the roof of the vehicle and this being an operation at risk of falling for the operator, you will need to take all preventive measures to avoid harm to people involved in the assembly. It must also check that the capacity of the vehicle roof is able to support the weight of the trader and tools needed during installation. Be sure that: 1. Antenna and its parts are not powered during installation. 2. People involved does not suffer from Vertigo. 3. There is no risk to fall down from the roof or from the aids used to reach it. 4. Do not stand in a risky position where tools or material can fall down during the installation. The antenna always opens first vertically and then horizontally to allow you to reduce the overall operating conditions but, in far south regions, such as Morocco or North Africa, to point the antenna of some satellites could tip very back, so it is necessary that there are no objects that prevent its rotation. Consider a space of about 130 cm in diameter around the antenna as shown. Thoroughly clean the area identified for fitting and removing all traces of grease, dust and debris. With a caulking gun, apply a uniform layer of polyurethane adhesive on the baseplate of the antenna body (Area 1). Refer to the operating instructions of the adhesive used. Use adhesives compatible with the counter material (ABS) and the roof of your vehicle. Then position the antenna in the above cleaned area by paying attention to the direction. The arrow in the figure indicates the direction of march of the vehicle. Be sure that the antenna is parallel to the sides of the vehicle. Do not press above the parabola to prevent warping it. This will irreparably damage the mechanics. Select a suitable adhesive to fix the baseplate ABS to your roof. Follow the instructions from the manufacturer of the glue and in any case, let it rest at the appropriate temperature (see manual glue instructions) for at least 24 hours before starting move the vehicle. Passage of the cables If it was not already, make a hole for the passage of the two cables required to the antenna operation. After making the hole, fit the weatherproof box or the cable guide. Run the two cables supplied in the kit if necessary with the help of an electrician's probe, if you were to encounter resistance, DO NOT pull on the cables, you might run into the cable break and then the antenna malfunction. Such failure is not covered by warranty. The system allow to point a satellite independently by the type or model of the Set Top Box used and independently by the orientation and/or the inclination of the vehicle. Some receiver like the pay per view ones, require longer time to lock the satellite signal, in this case you need to change the type of the set top box using the programming approach mentioned in the related paragraph. This type of receivers will make the scanning process longer. Remember that the Antenna can point the satellite ONLY if the Set Top Box has at least one channel (of the pointed satellite) pre-programmed on it. System is designed to work with any Set Top Box. Anyway there are Set Top Boxes like SKY and/or PAY PER USE which require longer time to lock the signal. For this reason, if your receiver is one of those, you need to program the system to work with it selecting the SKY and/or PAY PER USE mode. To Select the SKY and/or PAY PER USE please refer to the paragraph “Programming the Receiver Type”. The GPS allow to point the satellite with the maximum accuracy. The Tilt Sensor (if installed) will correct any possible vehicle inclination. The pointing procedure is started as soon as the set top box is powered up and the power is applied to the LNB. The time needed to start the process may change based on the Set Top Box type. This behavior is typical of Set Top Boxes like SKY and/or PAY PER USE. In this case you have to switch off the receiver using the power switch or disconnecting the power cable. UMN_00094001 Rev 7 TECHNO-MEDIA SRL Via IV Novembre 92 20021 Bollate (MI) tel. 02/48672988 - [email protected] 24 ‘User Manual’’ Automatic Satellite Antennas TECHNO-MEDIA SRL Switching ON To power on the antenna press the ON button on the Beep-Box. Switching OFF To power on the antenna press the OFF button on the Beep-Box. Closing the Antenna Antenna can be closed in three different ways: 1. Switching off the receiver • If your receiver remove the LNB power when switched off, then to close the antenna it is enough to put the Set Top Box in Stand By. In case the Antenna is already pointed to the desired satellite, to close it, you need to press the Close Button. 2. Pressing the close button on the BeepBox version 2 or the only one button available on the BeepBox version 1. If as indicated in the paragraph "Description of the System" your set top box does not allow to remove the LNB power, than to close the antenna it is enough to press the CLOSE button. After the antenna close down, an infinite series of beep is played until the receiver power is not removed or the OFF button is pressed. Scan Process Here the different Scan steps: 1. The antenna move to the Zero position. 2. The antenna set the required inclination to pint the desired satellite using the position provided by the GPS or the default elevation if the GPS does not have the fix. 3. A complete rotation is performed. 4. Antenna move immediately back to the highest power satellite found. 5. A tuning process is started. a) If a valid audio signal is revealed the Antenna stop in this position and will be possible to close it only pressing the CLOSE button or switching on the vehicle. b) If the audio signal is not revealed, the system move to the next satellite. If at the end of the loop no satellites are found, the scan is performed again with different settings. If at the end of all scanning processes the satellite is not found, the antenna will close down.
