Always adhere to the user instructions of the devices that you connect to the MP3 player. Avoid vibrations, dust, heat and direct sunlight in order to prevent malfunction. The operating temperature is 5 - 35°C. Never open the casing. This would invalidate the warranty and may render the device unusable. This device is not intended for use by people (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental abilities or for those without experience and/or knowledge, unless they are supervised by a person responsible for their safety or they have been instructed in its use. Children should be supervised to ensure they do not play with this device. Do not place any objects on top of the device and do not exert pressure on the device. After transporting the device, wait until it has reached room temperature before

3.2. Power supply Your MP3 player is fitted with a built-in rechargeable lithium battery that you can charge through your computer with the USB cable supplied.
3.3. Data backup We do not accept any liability for claims for compensation due to loss of data or any damages that are incurred. After every update, back up your files on external media (e.g. CD-R).
3.4. Electromagnetic compatibility Keep the device away from sources of highfrequency or magnetic interference (televisions, loudspeakers, mobile telephones, etc.) to avoid malfunctions and data loss.

The MP3 player and the 2 pairs of threelayer ear pads are water resistant to a depth of 3 metres. All other accessory supplied with this device is not water resistant and should not be used in water. The MP3 player should only be used for a maximum of 30 minutes under water.

Ensure that the MP3 player is not scratched or cracked. Do not throw the MP3 player into the water or jump into the water while holding it as such dynamic forces may result in water penetrating into the interior of the MP3 player.

6. Initial operation 6.1. Charging the lithium battery PLEASE NOTE! The high-performance lithium battery should be charged before first use. Charging takes approximately 3 hours. The charging time increases if you transfer data to the device while the battery is charging. Switch on your computer Plug the USB cable supplied into the device's USB socket. Insert the other end of the USB cable into a USB port on the computer. PLEASE NOTE! Charge the battery when the performance deteriorates or if you do not use the MP3 player for long periods (more than 2 months).

6.2. Connecting earphones The device comes with stereo earphones. Insert the stereo jack plug for the earphones into the earphone socket. You can also use this socket to connect a cable (not supplied with the device) to the socket on your stereo system. WARNING! Excessive volume when using earphones and headphones can result in damage to hearing and/or loss of hearing. Before pressing play, set the volume to the lowest setting. Start playback and increase the volume to one which is comfortable for you. Only use the earphones delivered with the device.

7. Basic functions 7.1. Switching on the device To switch on the device, the MP3 player must not be connected to a computer. To switch the device on, press and hold the button until the operating LED lights up red. The operating LED will go out after a few seconds and an acoustic signal will be emitted. The device switches into playback mode and plays the last played audio file. The operating LED flashes green during playback. PLEASE NOTE! On delivery, the device contains no tracks. To transfer tracks, read the instructions in section “8. Data transfer using the computer” on page 21.

7.2. Switching off the device Hold down the button until you hear the acoustic signal. The operating LED will flash red three times.
7.3. Playback After being switched on, the MP3 player will automatically be in music mode. To interrupt playback, press . An acoustic signal is sounded and the operating LED lights up and stays green. Press again to resume playback. Another acoustic signal is sounded and the operating LED flashes green. During playback, switch to the previous or next track using -/+. An acoustic signal is sounded each time a button is pressed.

7.4. Volume control Adjust the volume during playback by holding down the -/+ buttons for a longer period of time to reduce or increase the volume. DANGER! Excessive volume when using earphones and headphones can result in damage to hearing and/or loss of hearing. Before pressing play, set the volume to the lowest setting. Using headphones/earphones to listen to an MP3 player at high volumes for an extended period can damage your hearing.
7.5. Resetting the MP3 player If the MP3 player cannot be switched on or freezes during playback, you can reset the MP3 player using the RESET button. Hold down the RESET button until the MP3 player turns on and the operating LED lights up red PLEASE NOTE! The reset function does not delete the memory contents. 8. Data transfer using the computer On delivery, the MP3 player does not yet contain any files. You must copy the files from a computer. CAUTION! Back up your data on external storage media after each update. We do not accept any liability for claims for compensation arising from the loss of data or any consequential damages incurred.
8.1. Connecting to a computer Unplug the earphones. Insert the USB cable supplied into the MP3 player's USB/earphones socket. Insert the other end of the USB cable into a free USB port on your computer. The computer detects that a new device has been connected and assigns the MP3 player a drive.

8.1.1. Copy protection The only works which may be copied or coded are those which you yourself have created or for which you have received the appropriate usage rights from the owner. If you infringe these rights then you could be liable to prosecution or subject to a claim from the copyright owners. Please observe the legal regulations when using music files in MP3/ WMA format.

8.1.2. Copying files from your computer onto the MP3 player. PLEASE NOTE! Please note that a small part of the memory must be kept free for the system. Otherwise the MP3 player cannot be correctly switched on. Do not disconnect the device during the data transfer. Copy the audio files in MP3 and/or WMA format from your computer to the MP3 player's drive. You may also copy folders with the files. As is well known, unprotected files can be transferred to the MP3 player by dragging & dropping via Windows® Explorer. Once the data transfer is complete, you may disconnect the device from the computer.

8.1.3. Information about file organisation upon data transfer The MP3 player sorts files copied to the device according to the order they are added and by the order selected. The file listing on the MP3 player also depends on how the files have been sorted in the directory view on the computer (e.g. by name, album or revision date). You can transfer the correspondingly sorted and previously defined directory structure onto the MP3 player. PLEASE NOTE! Directories/files added later will be listed at the start of the directory/file view.

8.2. Transferring files from the MP3 player to your computer Connect the MP3 player to your computer as described above. You can play the files directly using the media player on your computer. You may also use the media player to copy the audio files to your computer. Alternatively, you can copy the files to the computer from the MP3 player drive using Windows® Explorer.

9. Cleaning
CAUTION! Salt water and heavily chlorinated water (e.g. in swimming pools) is extremely abrasive and can cause corrosion to the MP3 player. Always clean the MP3 player thoroughly after use in water. Rinse the MP3 player under running water. Immerse the MP3 player in clean water for 2 to 3 minutes to loosen and remove all salt residues. After removing it from the water, shake the MP3 player vigorously several times to remove any residual water. Dry the MP3 player with a clean, lint-free cloth. Dry all openings and the connection between the front and rear clip using a cotton bud. Leave the MP3 player to dry fully in the shade in a well-ventilated place.
