Before using the light for the first time, charge the battery for at least 12 hours, even though the Green LED on the charger is constant. Bulb is bad. • Bad On/Off switch. • • Voltage cutoff assembly is bad. This Marker Light is Equipped with a low voltage shut-off circuit which will shut the light down when the battery voltage drops below approximately 11 Volts. At this point the battery must immediately (within 5 days) be charged to prevent damage. With the addition of a photocell the light will automatically turn on at night and off during the day, thus significantly extending battery life. With the On/Off switch in the ON position, the photocell will control the light operation. You must cover the photocell to test the light during the day. This light is also equipped with a Red LED to visually indicate the status of the battery. It is there to give you an early warning as to low voltage in the battery. The LED will illuminate about 80% of the way through the battery discharging cycle. Note the Red LED on the light : Steady Off LED Light O.K. to operate/Battery fully charged. Steady On LED Battery is approximately 80% discharged. Recharge as soon as possible. MODEL # 854-12 CHARGER To charge the battery, proceed as follows: 1. Turn the On/Off switch to the ON position. The unit is now charging the batteries. battery voltage is 2-12 Volts Blown fuse on Charger circuit board. No lights on Charger Blown main fuse 6. A Red LED on the charger indicates a high rate of charge. This will continue until the batteries reach approximately 14.6 Volts. At this time, the charger will automatically switch to a float mode and maintain a constant 13.8 Volt charge. A Green LED in the charger indicates this. The 861 Marker Light is fully charged and ready for service whenever the Green LED turns on. Defective Charger 7. Turn the On/Off switch on the Charger to the OFF position and unplug. 8. PLEASE NOTE: The Marker Light should be run through a full charge cycle every two months to prevent battery damage, even when in storage. 9. CAUTION : Do not operate the light while charging. Do not turn on the light during the charging cycle. REV. C 6/12/03 PLITSTR61
