8914 Dual AES/EBU Digital Audio Delay Distribution Amplifier Key Features • Two full-function digital delays on a single board • Up to 0.5 second delay in 2 ms increments per channel • Four outputs on channel 1, three outputs on channel 2 • Up to 20 AES/EBU delays in a 2 RU 8900-V frame • Accepts 32, 44.1, and 48 kHz audio signals Note: for balanced 110Ω requirements see the 8912 series digital audio distribution amplifiers As the transition to digital video and audio accelerates, there is an increased need to delay the audio associated with broadcast video due to the relatively large processing times associated with DVEs and video production switchers. The 8914 provides a low-cost and easy-to-use solution to the lip sync errors associated with these large delays. We’ve included two fully controllable delay paths on a single board allowing up to 20 digital audio delays and distribution in a 2 RU frame. If you want more distribution instead, the first channel can be passively looped to the second channel for seven outputs. The 8914 is also a full-featured reclocking distribution amplifier. 8900V-R AES 2 Outputs AES 2 Input J1 J2 J3 J4 J5 J6 J7 J8 J9 J10 AES 1 Outputs AES 1 Input Loopthru AES 1 Loopthrough AES 2 RX Serial to Parallel RX Serial to Parallel Delay Controls Supported Frame Types Performance GeckoFlex with 8900V-R GeckoFlex Video rear module, Gecko video frames: 8900TX-V, 8900TF-V Sample rates: 32, 44.1, or 48 kHz 3.5 Watts – single slot Input Number of inputs: • Channel 1: one loopthrough • Channel 2: one terminated AES 1 Outputs Delay AES2 Outputs FPGA Ordering Information Specifications Power Rating Delay Delayed outputs: • Minimum: 1.2 ms • Maximum: 510 ms (127.5 AES blocks) This module can be mounted in a GeckoFlex frame when ordered with the 8900V-R GeckoFlex Video rear module. 8914 Dual AES/EBU digital audio delay distribution amplifier Delay increments: One AES block (2 ms) Indicators and Controls Indicators: Input video present, input data rate, power Controls: Delay – two 16-position rotary switches Connectors: 75Ω BNC Standard: AES-3id-1995 and SMPTE 276M AES frame rates: 32, 44.1, or 48 kHz Return loss: >25 dB (0.1 to 6 MHz) Outputs Number of outputs: • Channel 1: four • Channel 2: three Connectors: 75Ω BNC Standard: AES-3id-1995 and SMPTE 276M Return loss: >25 dB (0.1 to 6 MHz) Intrinsic jitter: <6 ns For detailed specifications, installation, and setup instructions see: www.grassvalley.com/docs/modular 9
