Change in Bit Stuffing Default Setting The factory default for the network interface’s physical Bit Stuffing configuration option has changed from 62411 to Part68. The current default value of 62411 is not recommended for frame relay data because it inserts too many errors in the data traffic. This change affects the following documents and pages:

Added Note for Resetting the Access Unit Procedure In resetting the access unit using the power recycling method, make sure that the async terminal has Flow Control set to None for recycling to take place. This change affects the following document pages:

Change in LMI Default Settings Factory defaults for LMI timeouts and counters have changed to better match service provider suggested values.
LMI Error Event (N2) – Default setting changed from 2 to 3.
LMI Status Enquiry (N1) – Default setting changed from 2 to 6.

Change in the ISDN Switch Type Option If an ISDN BRI DBM is installed on your access unit, only the NI-1 Switch Type is displayed. This change supports the new national standard that all switches should support NI-1. This change affects the following documents and pages:

Added ISDN Line Status A field indicating the overall status of the ISDN line has been added to the DBM Interface Status screen. The new field, Line Status, could display one of the following statuses:
Active – The ISDN line is active and no error conditions exist.
Inactive – The ISDN line is disconnected or an ISDN network alarm condition exists.
Inv SPID – The switch has rejected one of the SPIDs configured.
Inv Local Number – The phone number configured for a B channel is an invalid local number.
Inv Call ID – The incoming call was rejected because the Calling ID did not match the number in any of the enabled ISDN Call Profiles. The rejected Calling ID appears in the BRI-Bn Remote Call ID field.

Change to the Manual Backup Procedures When using manual backup to test a DLCI connection, the DLCI must be set to Inactive on units at both ends of a PVC connection for backup to take place; both ends reset to Active once the DLCI connection is verified. This change affects the following documents and pages:

Note About ISDN BRI DBM Upgrades If installing an ISDN BRI DBM upgrade, you need software release 1.0.1 or greater. Verify the software revision of your unit under the NAM Identity column of the Identity screen. Follow this menu sequence:
Main Menu → Status → Identity Contact your sales or service representative if you need to have a software upgrade.
