These inputs are then saved for the respective SAT level. There are four different LNB controller operating modes for the 1st softkey menu. The respective submenus are different depending on the function selected for the 1st softkey. LNB-DC (analogous to DC voltage control) The 2nd softkey is used to set the control voltage for the polarisation change-over. The 3rd softkey is used as required to connect the 22 kHz switching signal (to select high band as required). Please use the 4th softkey to set the desired modulation oscillator. For universal LNBs the settings used are usually 9,750 MHz for low band and 10,600 MHz for high band. The preset oscillator frequencies can be overwritten as required in the “LO-Freq” menu, using the number keys. After the has been pressed, the desired Sat level is now set. To show the user what settings have been transmitted, the input is highlighted in green. DiSEqCTM (control signal based on 22 kHz) The 2nd softkey is used to select a Sat level for satellite 1 or 2 from a previously saved satellite list. The 3rd softkey is used to select a Sat level for satellite 3 or 4 from a previously saved satellite list. Please now use the 4th softkey to set the correct modulation oscillator for each. The associated DiSEqCTM command is now displayed in the 5th column (command ...). Pressing the button sends the respective DiSEqCTM command to the Sat system, and thereby switches on the desired Sat level. To show the user what settings have been transmitted, the input is highlighted in green. The associated DiSEqCTM command is displayed here. 34 MEASURING FUNCTION: TP SCAN MODE SCR (also SCIF or single cable systems) The 2nd softkey is used to select the system type. Type 1 offers a range of four output or transmission frequencies. Type 2 offers a range of eight output or transmission frequencies. There are also further detail differences between the types which are however not relevant to operation of the system. The 3rd softkey is now used to select the system output frequency to be measured. The 4th softkey is used to select between two satellite positions the vertical and horizontal Sat polarisation for each. The selected individual output carrier (UB = user band) can also be switched off here. The 5th softkey gives access to the column in which the desired satellite transponder frequency can be input, and underneath it also the appropriate modulation oscillator. There are also explanatory tables under “Overview of the most important DiSEqCTM commands”. Pressing the button now sends the respective DiSEqCTM command to the Sat system, and thereby implements the desired appropriate transponder frequency. To show the user what settings have been transmitted, the input is highlighted in green. SCR in User mode (by type, in the 2nd column) The 2nd softkey is used to set the user mode (your own SCR frequencies). The 3rd softkey is now used to select the appropriate output frequency of the system, previously set individually. These user SCR frequencies are required in the measurement mode (TP scan). They are input here in the column of the 3rd softkey and are saved when the satellite meter is switched off. “Test SCIF” switches on all the SCR carriers (output frequencies) to the single-cable system. Pressing “All Off” briefly interrupts the DC power supply to the single-cable system, thereby resetting these SCR carriers again. However many SCR matrices have their own power supply, so to reset the SCR carriers by briefly interrupting their power supply it is necessary to withdraw the mains plug and reinsert it. 35 MEASURING FUNCTION: TP SCAN MODE SCD2 (Single Cable Distribution, 2nd Generation) = extended single-cable system Up to 32 receivers can be operated fully independently of one another on one cable with this system. Operation in manual measuring mode differs from this somewhat and therefore is described in the following section “Measuring function: LNB/Matrix settings”. User the input of an individual DiSEqCTM command (in “Mode”, first column) After the 2nd softkey has been pressed, the frame byte can be input via the keyboard. After the 3rd softkey has been pressed, the address byte can be input. After the 4th softkey has been pressed, the command byte can be input. After the 5th softkey has been pressed, the data byte can be input. Pressing the button now sends the respective DiSEqCTM command to the Sat system, and thereby implements the desired appropriate transponder frequency. To show the user what settings have been transmitted, the input is highlighted in green. As an example: E0 10 5A 2D 35 corresponds here to a single-cable system of type 2 Here Sat position 1 (Astra 19 degrees) is now modulated to the transponder 11,836 MHz (ARD) with the high band oscillator 10,600 MHz at the SCR output frequency 1,400 MHz. There are also explanatory tables under “Overview of the most important DiSEqCTM commands”. In general: A precise transponder frequency display cannot be achieved using this “USER-DiSEqCTM” menu, since no modulation oscillator can be assigned. Therefore the “SAT-IF” frequency is displayed here. 36 MEASURING FUNCTION: LNB/MATRIX SETTINGS Press the button to call up manual antenna setting. Satellite systems using a universal LNB Using the 1st softkey button “Mode” and the cursor buttons ▲▼, four different types of antenna control are available for selection: “LNB-DC”, “DiSEqCTM”, “SCR” (SCIF) and DiSEqCTM “User” input. With this extended DiSEqCTM standard it is possible to supply up to 32 receivers (userbands) via one cable with any desired number of satellite transponders. The example lists the currently available 12 userband frequencies. The example shows a matrix at SAT position 1 at an LNB with two oscillators at 9750-10600 MHz (lowbandhighband) for 12 output frequencies (userbands, UB). In the example, here the German station “Das Erste” has been implemented on Astra 19 degrees east at 11836 MHz. At position A, Horizontal, Highband. The SAT-IF is 1236 MHz after this implementation. This IF frequency is then implemented as well in the corresponding userband frequencies. Where the list includes a newly generated satellite, it may that a channel scan has to be performed. This is done under: SETUP/Search/Satellite ... Start (see under “Channel scan by satellite lists”). 59 TECHNICAL APPENDIX CALCULATION OF THE SAT-IF FREQUENCY This is done as follows: IF = reception frequency - oscillator frequency The oscillation frequency is made up as follows: 9,750 MHz oscillator frequency is used for a reception frequency between 10,700 MHz and 11,700 MHz. 10,600 MHz is used for a reception frequency between 11,700 MHz and 12,750 MHz. Hence the values for ARD - Das Erste are: IF = reception frequency - oscillator frequency IF = 11,836 MHz - 10,600 MHz IF = 1,236 MHz In measuring mode (TP-SCAN, SPECTRUM, CONSTELLATION) you can input both the Sat-IF frequency (1,236 MHz) and also the transponder frequency (11,836 MHz). For this you must then input the appropriate LO frequency (10,600 MHz) in the LNB-CNTRL menu. 60 TECHNICAL APPENDIX OVERVIEW OF THE PRE-SET SATELLITES The factory settings for the satellites and LNB settings can be found under “SETUP/Installation/Satellites”.
