This enables multiple Grandmasters to be synchronized to each other and to cross-check one another. Since it is possible for colocated time feeds to fail or to even jump around, TimeKeeper can alert system operators or and/or be configured to automatically switch to a second source if a problem is detected to avoid interruption of time service. TimeKeeper’s holdover option can make use of even a low quality time feed, like a feed from NIST over the public internet, to keep the frequency steady on the local timer if GPS is interrupted (or appears unreliable). TimeKeeper logs all sources to maintain an audit trail.
