The AA should take the G1 devices and Nationwide should take the docking station kits and metal brackets. NB: The brackets and docking station kits are vehicle specific and must be installed into the VRN that is on the packaging AA G1 Upgrade – Ford Transit Custom Issue 101 - Page 3 of 23 Company Confidential and for the use of Nationwide Service Care Ltd ONLY AA G1 Upgrade – Ford Transit Custom Docking station kit contents The contents are – GPS Antenna • GPS Antenna Power Inverter Foam Insert • GPRS 4G Antenna + TNC Crimp • Power Inverter GPRS 4G Antenna • Docking Station Standard Hinge Assembly Fixings • GPS USB Adaptor Cable • Standard Hinge Assembly • Foam Insert for Air Vent Docking Station • Bracket Components • Fixings GPS USB Adaptor Cable AA G1 Upgrade – Ford Transit Custom Bracket Components Issue 101 - Page 4 of 23 Company Confidential and for the use of Nationwide Service Care Ltd ONLY AA G1 Upgrade – Ford Transit Custom Remove Existing Equipment The vast majority of vehicles are installed with AADIS equipment. Carefully remove this equipment and store in STORAGE CRATES ON SITE for disposal by The AA on site. If the crates become full – package the old equipment, air-vents and new/unused antennas in the G1 packaging and hand to the site contact Do NOT leave any installation packaging with the old AADIS – this is the responsibility of Nationwide to remove ‘packaging’ materials from site and dispose of correctly. If needed – flat pack the boxes into boxes and arrange return to Nationwide for disposal AA G1 Upgrade – Ford Transit Custom Issue 101 - Page 5 of 23 Company Confidential and for the use of Nationwide Service Care Ltd ONLY AA G1 Upgrade – Ford Transit Custom Power Invertor Every installation kit contains a new inverter and cables The input and output currents of the new inverter is higher than the original. Consequently BOTH cables must be changed for the new cables – do NOT use the existing cables as this will pose a risk of the cables overheating. Ensure that the inverter is fully secured to the vehicle dash AA G1 Upgrade – Ford Transit Custom Issue 101 - Page 6 of 23 Company Confidential and for the use of Nationwide Service Care Ltd ONLY AA G1 Upgrade – Ford Transit Custom Antennae The G1 docking station uses a GPS and 4G GPRS antenna. Vehicles with 15 or 65 VRNs should already have the 4G and correct GPS antenna fitted {the GPS can be identified as being GREY if correct} – check and change if BLACK} 4G Antenna In earlier vans the DATA M8 antenna has to be changed for the new 4G antenna and the BLACK GPS antenna has to be changed for the grey antenna {NB: If the M8 antenna has to be upgraded always upgrade the GPS antenna regardless of it’s colour} GPS Antenna The 4G antenna hole will require enlarging slightly – ensure ALL drilling swarf is removed from the vehicle roof and protect the bare metal with petroleum jelly AA G1 Upgrade – Ford Transit Custom Issue 101 - Page 7 of 23 Company Confidential and for the use of Nationwide Service Care Ltd ONLY AA G1 Upgrade – Ford Transit Custom Bracket Images The Ford Transit Custom Bracket is a 2 piece bracket + fixing pack + foam insert for the air vent AA G1 Upgrade – Ford Transit Custom Issue 101 - Page 8 of 23 Company Confidential and for the use of Nationwide Service Care Ltd ONLY AA G1 Upgrade – Ford Transit Custom Foam Insert Remove the centre dash panel and LH air vent. The foam insert is provided to block the open air vent pipe. This enables the heater system to maintain air pressure to the other vehicle vents. It is ESSENTIAL that this foam insert is installed Insert the foam insert firmly into the air vent. AA G1 Upgrade – Ford Transit Custom Issue 101 - Page 9 of 23 Company Confidential and for the use of Nationwide Service Care Ltd ONLY AA G1 Upgrade – Ford Transit Custom Parts For Return To Nationwide Vehicle registered with 15 or 65 will NOT be having the antennas changed – they have been pre-installed with the correct antennas These antennas should be packaged into one main site box / boxes along with the vehicle air vents that have been removed and PUT INTO THE AA CRATES ON SITE If the crates become full – package the old equipment, air-vents and new/unused antennas in the G1 packaging and hand to the site contact AA G1 Upgrade – Ford Transit Custom Issue 101 - Page 10 of 23 Company Confidential and for the use of Nationwide Service Care Ltd ONLY AA G1 Upgrade – Ford Transit Custom Bracket Part 1 Bolt the lower bracket into place The bracket has EIGHT fixings as shown. Refit the centre facia AA G1 Upgrade – Ford Transit Custom Self Tapping Screws x 4 into dash Issue 101 - Page 11 of 23 Company Confidential and for the use of Nationwide Service Care Ltd ONLY AA G1 Upgrade – Ford Transit Custom Bracket Part 2 The bracket has EIGHT fixings as shown. Ensure the ‘green arrow’ faces upwards then remove and discard the ‘green arrow’. NB: Some elongating of holes may be needed AA G1 Upgrade – Ford Transit Custom Issue 101 - Page 16 of 23 Company Confidential and for the use of Nationwide Service Care Ltd ONLY AA G1 Upgrade – Ford Transit Custom Bracket Part 7 Secure the docking station to the hinge bracket using the 4 x nuts and washers provided AA G1 Upgrade – Ford Transit Custom Issue 101 - Page 17 of 23 Company Confidential and for the use of Nationwide Service Care Ltd ONLY AA G1 Upgrade – Ford Transit Custom GPRS Antenna Connection Attach the GPRS connector to the connector shown AA G1 Upgrade – Ford Transit Custom Issue 101 - Page 18 of 23 Company Confidential and for the use of Nationwide Service Care Ltd ONLY AA G1 Upgrade – Ford Transit Custom GPS USB Connection Use the retaining bars at the rear of the docking station to secure the cabling with cable ties where required. Secure the GPS USB cable using 2 x cable ties EXACTLY as shown – do not put too much tension on USB – just enough to prevent it vibrating upwards AA G1 Upgrade – Ford Transit Custom Issue 101 - Page 19 of 23 Company Confidential and for the use of Nationwide Service Care Ltd ONLY AA G1 Upgrade – Ford Transit Custom Equipment Testing The AA site contact is responsible for testing the equipment. Do not wait until the end of the session to ask for this to be done otherwise there may be a bottleneck of issues. Halfway through the session, when @ half of the installations have been completed, find the site contact and request that he/she test the installs completed so far AA G1 Upgrade – Ford Transit Custom Issue 101 - Page 20 of 23 Company Confidential and for the use of Nationwide Service Care Ltd ONLY AA G1 Upgrade – Ford Transit Custom Auxiliary Equipment Check The vehicle has several pieces of auxiliary equipment – most powered from the auxiliary fuse-box - including the tracker, the USB socket {where fitted}, etc. Check that these are powered {simple light check} after you have completed the G1 installation.
