FlexiRemap is a software technology developed by AccelStor and fundamentally designed for flash memory. Adopting the methodology of software-defined flash, AccelStor harnesses the power of modern processor architecture with its FlexiRemap technology, which manages the underlying flash memory directly from the kernel level of operating systems. AccelStor FlexiRemap technology features fault tolerance with enhanced data integrity through redundancy. Unlike conventional RAID 5, the implementation of FlexiRemap achieves the same level of protection with greatly reduced overheads from regular operations. On the other hand, the space efficiency is much higher when compared to RAID 1. The journal-based design allows faster recovery upon failure, and at the same time brings performance and endurance benefits in terms of flash management. The software implementation of AccelStor FlexiRemap technology runs on standard server platforms and eliminates the need for proprietary hardware.
