Between May and October, HP’s ACF Programme counted the impressive total of around 3.3 million counterfeit items that authorities across EMEA have successfully seized with support from HP. It is also thanks to your diligence and support that many of these successes were possible: Our ACF experts received numerous reports and leads that helped to safeguard customers from risky fakes. Please keep this great momentum going and contact our ACF experts if you notice any suspicious products or tender bids.
Items seized in Russia
With the protection of our customers as a priority, HP’s ACF team has also organised numerous new events across EMEA to educate stakeholders on the negative effects of counterfeit trade and how to steer clear of fakes. In the last few months, HP for example presented at events in Azerbaijan, Belarus and Croatia, toured major cities in Nigeria and staged a high-level summit for all of Western and Central Africa in Morocco. CDIs create a big buzz in Europe and the Middle East ACF Customer Delivery Inspections (CDIs) recently created a big buzz when numerous key customers were protected from large amounts of fake printing supplies. In Bahrain, for example, 500 counterfeits were detected during a single CDI. Additionally, HP ACF experts in Russia identified over 1,200 fake print cartridges during a series of CDIs between April and May. In total, our ACF experts conducted about 60 new CDIs, which yielded the impressive total of around 3,700 counterfeit products. These results clearly illustrate the importance of being vigilant.

Numerous new audits keep sales channel clean Around 600 new audits in just six months – ACF experts conducted surprise visits at partners all over EMEA to check their stocks of HP printing supplies. And with about 79%, the vast majority of partners passed their audits with flying colours! HP carries out these dedicated partner audits to ensure that the authorised sales channel is a safe place for purchase. In order to help protect your organisation from counterfeiting and fraud, we recommend you to only purchase from HP’s authorised partners. hp.com/go/anticounterfeit

How to Protect Your Organisation from Counterfeits
HP launches new security labels for print cartridges HP recently launched new security labels for inkjet and toner print cartridges, improving protection of our valued customers from risky counterfeits. Authenticating the security label is crucial for identifying counterfeits, so be sure you know how to check them: • The new security labels have similar holographic features as the current version: tilt the box from front to back and check if the ‘OK’ and ‘‘ symbols on the label move in opposite directions. Then tilt the box from right to left and check if the ‘OK’ and ‘‘ symbols move in the same direction. • Note that there will be one label for toner and one for ink print cartridges, either displaying a toner or an ink icon and the word ‘toner’ or ‘ink’. A toner print cartridge that displays an ink label or vice versa should be considered suspicious. • The new security label again features a unique QR code, which you can validate with your smartphone: capture the code with the HP SureSupply app or any generic QR code reader for instant verification. Alternatively, you can enter the label’s serial number on hp.com/go/ok. Original HP toner print cartridge boxes always carry a security label, while only selected ink print cartridges in Europe, the Middle East and Africa come with a label. As the new labels are being rolled-out, you will see new and current variations of the security labels on the market in parallel; of course, previous security labels can still be checked as usual.
Get to know JetIntelligence’s Anti-Fraud Technology HP’s all-new JetIntelligence printers, built around a breakthrough in toner chemistry, also feature sophisticated technology to prevent users from inadvertently inserting a fake toner print cartridge into their printer. • Activate the new Anti-Fraud Technology: this ensures that each time you install a new print cartridge, the printer will automatically conduct an authentication of the product. • Report if you get notified about possible fakes: if the printer displays a message “Used or counterfeit print cartridge is installed” even though an allegedly brand-new, genuine print cartridge has been inserted, you should report to HP. Please keep in mind that a similar feature is also available for current HP inkjet printers.
